RMySQL LoadLibrary failure: Invalid access to memory location.
Hi.
I'm sorry to revisit a problem that's been much discussed, but I haven't yet
been able to overcome it.
I am running R 2.5.1 on Windows XP Professional 5.1 (Service Pack 2), and I
believe I have MySQL 5.0.45 installed (I downloaded and installed
mysql-essential-5.0.45-win32.msi from

principal component analysis for class variables
Dear Forum,
I have a class variable 1 (populations A-E), and two other class variables,
variable 2 and variable 3. What I want is to see if the combination of var 2
and var 3, will give me a pattern that allows to distinguish populations.
I found several packages like ade4, with pcaiv function and factoMineR. but
there are not working. Using the ade4 package, when I try to build the pca:

equality of values
Dear list,
I'm trying to do a loop where I should choose a cell of a data frame
comparing it with another. The code actually works for the majority of the
loop but for some reason it doesn't and I can't figure out why.
When I tried to understand why I've noticed this:
> dif[11]
[1] 118.8333
> linhasUpdate[10,6]
[1] 118.8333
> dif[11]==linhasUpdate[10,6]

Dear r helpers,
I'm trying to run the models of the BIOMOD package and got this message:

Error in nnet.default (x, y, w,...): **initial value in 'vmmin' is not finite*
What does this mean? and how can I correct it?

I'm trying to use rsync.
my /usr/local/etc/rsyncd.conf is:
log file = /var/log/rsyncd
pid file = /etc/rsyncd.pid
syslog facility = local5
[padrao]
comment= Arquivos para Configuracao Maq RedHat
path=/usr/adm/padrao
read only=no
list = yes
I want to write in /usr/adm/padrao with the command
"rsync -uve ssh ./oi2 drcpc1:/padrao/oi2"

R2wd error in wdGet
Dear list,
I'm trying to use R2wd package. I've installed the package and try wdGet().
However a error message came up. I'm presently using R 2.15.0
> wdGet()
Error in if (wdapp[["Documents"]][["Count"]] == 0)
wdapp[["Documents"]]$Add() :
argument is of length zero
Does anyone knows what this means?

Error in installing packages
Dear list,
I'm trying to install a package but every time I select the option form the
menu this error message appears:
> utils:::menuInstallPkgs()
Error in read.dcf(file = tmpf) :
Line starting '<!DOCTYPE html PUBLI ...' is malformed!
Do you have any clue of the reason why is it happening? I'm using a older
version (2.9.2) but it always worked perfectly!

problems in installing biomart
Dear Forum
my machine runs Ubuntu 9.04. I am trying to install Biomart, what I realize
is that something is missing and it can't install XML, RCurl but I don't
know what more to do, I looked in previous posts but I did not find
infoprmation that helped.

reading Excel file
Dear all,
I was using older version of R (installed early). I install new version of R (R.2.9.0) but i could not find package "xlsReadWrite" to read Excel file. Is there any alternatives to read Excel file ?
I hope it should be.
I need help although it is minor querry.

how to use the switch statement
Good morning,
I am trying to recode the values of a column in a data frame and,
instead of using a long series of if/else statements I would like to use
a switch (as it is, for instance, in the C programming language).
I have a column of this type:

7 days confusion over lists
Hello,
I am a Masters student and I am working on my thesis modelling smallholder
farms using a program in R. I have modified the original code and I am
having some issues with lists that I cannot figure out.
Originally, I had list file defining lists such as: Param, Crop1, Crop1,

Barplot label
Dear all,
I am trying to make barplot from matrix with "beside=FALSE". I have 165 labels in my bar plot. When i plot the label horizontally below the barplot, then all labels are not appear in the plot due to lack of space. I used the following function:

Importing many files from a single code
Dear R users,
Does somebody know the way to import many files by a single command in R ? I have 50 files in a directory and now, i am importing the files repeatedly (one by one). If there is a way to import all files at a time, it makes much more easy and save times too.

RMySQL installation problem
Hi List,
I'm running R2.5.1 on WinXP. Downloaded RMySQL_0.6-0.zip from http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/RWin/bin/windows/contrib/2.6/ and the installation seemed fine. However, when I tried to load the package, the error occured:

converting a list to a data.frame
Hello,
I have a list with n numerical components of different length (3, 4 or 5
values in each component of the list); I need to export this as a text
file where each component of the list will be a row and where missing
values should fill in the blanks due to the different lengths of the
components of the list.
I think that as a first step I should convert my list to a data frame,

how to increase row number
Hi
I think this may be simple task but creating trouble to me.
In my calculation, i have got large number of rows (5546) and column 182 but i am not able to see all the rows. May be somebody have idea how i can see all the rows ? I will be greatful if any body help me.

Mathematical annotation axis in lattice
Dear list,
making mathematical expressions in plots is not difficult: expression(phi[1]) for example. At this moment I am stuck in creating a vector of expressions:

lab <- letters[pos]
