circular statistics plotting
Hi all, I'm new to the list here, and I have what I think is a simple question. Using the "circular" package, is there a way to plot the mean and variance on top of a rose diagram or other plot of the data? Thanks in advance... - Jason Jason Horn Boston University Department of Biology 5 Cumington Street Boston, MA 02215 jhorn@bu.edu office: 617 353 6987 cell: 401 588

non-zero sequence of numbers
Can anyone think of a way to create a pretty() sequence that excludes zero? Or a way to remove the zero from a sequence after using pretty()? R.app window size
Hi all, This is a question for any of you who use R.app (OS X). Is there any way to resize the quartz plot window from within R? I know that you can resize the window by dragging the corner of the window, and fro the preferences panel. But is there a way to specify the window size from the console? I want to specify the size of the plot window from inside an R function. Also a

RMySQL Error Messages, crashing R
I am having trouble getting RMySQL working with R. It did at one point, work with an older 1.x version of R, but now with R2.2.1, I am getting the following messages on my OS X 10.4.5 system: RS-DBI driver warning: (MySQL mismatch between compiled version 4.0.24 and runtime version 4.1.14) if I then try to run any further db commands such as dbConnect, R crashes with a bus error. R-alpha: Equations in Plots
Paul Murrell and I are making some progress with making mathematical expressions available in graphs. The idea is to use R expressions to represent the mathematical expressions. So far we have (or will soon have): R LaTeX x^i x^i x[i] x_i alpha \alpha Alpha \Alpha hat(x) \hat{x} \widehat{x} bar(x) \bar{x} \overline{x} x+y x+y x-y x-y x/y x/y (x) (x) {x} {x} frac(x,y)

reading a character translation table into R
I have a txt file (attached) that defines equivalents among characters in latin1 (or iso-8859-1), numeric &#xxx; codes, HTML entities and latex equivalents. A portion of the file is shown inline below, but may not be rendered well in this email. I'd like to read this into R to use as a character translation table, but am stuck on two things: - The 5 fields in the file are

Underlined font
Hi all, Is there a simple way to place underlined text in a plot? Hershey vector fonts seem to have a single underscore character ("\\ul"), but no underlined font. Plotmath (ref: ?plotmath) comes very close with: R> plot(0:1,0:1, type="n") R> text(.1, .1, quote(bar(Hello))) but that's overlined, not underlined. Also: R> text(.2, .2,

rails on emacs - need a working .emacs sample
I would like to hear from some one who has ecb, multiple modes with ruby mode + html mode, rails mode all working together and playing well. I had ecb working with Ruby syntax highlighting. That was a no-brainer since I just had to apt-get them on my Debian Sarge box. It got a bit more comlex after I got most of the .el files in the articles http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/emacs/RubyOnRails

Trying to understand unicode character entry, goes into postgres DB backing rails, saved to yaml as \
Examine the Unicode standard''s code page collection for "Latin small letter a with macron". Nets U0100.pdf "Latin small letter a with macron" appears on chart as 0101. This is a hexidemial number which points to U+0101 as its code point. Converting 0101 to decimal gets you 257, this is the same as the HTML entity code. HTML code point is 257. That is &257; gives

home on nfs
Hi, I have the home directory of a user on an nfs server and mount it on a client. When the user logs in, they end up in the root directory rather than in their actual home directory and need to cd into it. The user can read and write to their home directory, so it kinda works fine --- but only kinda. When the user starts emacs, some of the settings in ~/.emacs are not applied, but the saved

You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

TDM400P slow getting line tone
Hello all, I just installed a TDM400P with 2 FXO modules on my asterisk server. The card works perfectly. To get users to ring out from my SIP phones i setup an extension with 0 that basically does something like this: extension => 0,1,Dial(ZAP/g1) where g1 is the group of the two FXO channels extension => 0,2,Hangup This works exactly as i want so users basically can dial 0, wait for

Still looking for small fxo sip gateway
I've been looking around for a small external sip fxo gateway, sending emails to possible vendors, etc, and can not seem to come up with anything that fits. Suggestions anyone? (No channel bank & T1 card suggestions, please. I've also just completed an eval of the Mediatrix 1204 which does not support the requirements.) The market between two fxo pstn lines (pair of x100p's) and
