R and Wordpress
Dear R helpers, I have a question regarding wordpress and R. I have asked this question in Wordpress support ( http://wordpress.org/support/topic/368312 ) but there is no answer so far, maybe the R community can have a better answer. I followed the excellent tutorial on r-statistics-blog ( http://www.r-statistics.com/2010/02/r-syntax-highlight-on-your-blog-a-wordpress-plugin/ ) to enable syntax

OT - use of R
Hello, is there an up-to-date reference for how many people use R? I'm giving an R demo and want to cite wonderful R usage stats. How many people use it (or download it)? How often is R used in peer-reviewed pubs, etc. Is there any whiz-bang citation that says something like "R is great and developed by the best minds in statistical computing." Any thoughts? -Andy

R's Spearman
Hi all, I am trying to figure out the formula used by R's Spearman rho (using cor(method="spearman")) because I can't seem to get the same value as by calculating "by hand". Perhaps I'm using "cor" wrong, but I don't know where. Basically, I am running these commands: > y=read.table(file="tmp",header=TRUE,sep="\t") >

How to load a big txt file
Dear list, I need to read a big txt file (around 130Mb; 23800 rows and 49 columns) for downstream clustering analysis. I first used "Tumor <- read.table("Tumor.txt",header = TRUE,sep = "\t")" but it took a long time and failed. However, it had no problem if I just put data of 3 columns. Is there any way which can load this big file? Thanks for any suggestions!

Meta-Analysis of proportions
Dear colleagues, I'm conducting a meta-analysis of studies evaluating adherence of HIV-positive drug users into AIDS treatment, therefore I'm looking for some advice and syntax suggestion for running the meta-regression using proportions, not the usual OR/RR frequently used on RCT studies. Have already searched already several handbooks, R-manuals, mailing lists, professors, but... not

[LLVMdev] /llvm/include/ADT/Trie.h?
In a discussion on IRC, Micheal was complaining about the semantics of StringSet, specifically how the iterators work. DannyB mentioned that we have a Trie class, so I decided to check it out. Lo and behold, I couldn't find _any_ uses of it, and when I deleted it from my system and did a clean rebuild, everything was fine. Looking at the log, the last substantial change to this class was in

How to add two different axis to one plot?
Hi all, I need to put two different axis to one plot. On the top of the plot, I need to put one axis, with increments from left side to the right side; then at the bottom of the same plot, I need to put another axis, with increments from right side to the left side and showing a different unit. How do I do that? By the way, is there a "hold" command for plotting? If I first plot a

Confusion with Converting Factors to Dates using as.date
Dear R-Helpers: I'm having a problem getting dates into the correct format. I have a data frame, which is based on a .csv file that I imported into R via read.table. R has converted my date variables to factors; when I use the as.Date command, most of the values are converted "correctly" (and by this I guess I mean converted "as I wish them to be") but some have not been.

Dear R help, Apologies for the less than informative subject line. I will do my best to describe my problem. Consider the following matrix: mdat <- matrix(c(1,0,1,1,1,0), nrow = 2, ncol=3, byrow=TRUE, dimnames = list(c("T1", "T2"), c("sp.1", "sp.2", "sp.3"))) mdat In my actual data I have time

Hello Micheal, this reminds me of something, that I experienced in the past. Why would the server! complain "Unknown CA"? A plot similar to violin plot
