Choosing a column for analysis in a function
Hello all, I'm having a problem concerning choosing columns from a dataset in a function. I'm writing a function for data input etc., which first reads the data, and then does several data manipulation tasks. The function can be then used, with just giving the path of the .txt file where the data is being held. These datasets consists of over 20 different analytes. Though, statistical

integration problem with gamma function
Dear R-list members, I have a problem with translating a mathematica script into R. The whole script is at the end of the email (with initial values for easy reproduction) and can be pasted directly into R. The problematic part (which is included below of course) is <--- Original Mathematica ---> (* p_svbar *) UiA = Ni (Dsi - 2Di A + A^2)/2; UiiA = Nii (Dsii - 2Dii A + A^2)/2; psvbar =

Minor logical bug in rbind.data.frame ?
When attempting to merge 3 data frames, one of which has fewer columns than the others, rbind.data.frame correctly refuses to perform the bind. However, the error message given is a bit obscure due to a logical bug in the match.names() internal function to rbind.data.frame. Illustration: ## Three data frames with same column variable names: > foo <- data.frame(v1 = c('a',

Issue with seek() on gzipped connections in R-devel
Dear all, In R-devel (2011-09-23 r57050), I'm running into a serious problem with seek()ing on connections opened with gzfile(). A warning is generated and the file position does not seek to the requested location. It doesn't seem to occur all the time - I tried to create a small example file to illustrate it, but the problem didn't occur. However, it can be seen with a file I use for

Replacing an instruction in a post-RA pass
I'm writing a pass that looks at the operands of certain non-commutable instructions and swaps a couple of them if certain conditions exist (a register bank conflict in the instruction). If the conflict exists, I build a new instruction which has the 2nd and 3rd operands swapped (using BuildMI). Then I want to get rid of the original instruction. I had done some searching and found that

Weird Mongrel error: Not starting.
Hi list, I have a problem with Mongrel which is really bugging me. I would really appreciate any help that anyone can provide to help me in solving this problem. 1. My setup: Apache front_end with mod_proxy_balancer in front of 4 mongrel/rails instances of my application. Rails 1.2.5 Ruby 1.8.6 Mongrel 1.1.1 2. I noticed that the CPU consumption on my server was 100% being consumed by ruby so I

[PATCH net] virtio-net: add missing virtqueue kick when flushing packets
We tends to batch submitting packets during XDP_TX. This requires to kick virtqueue after a batch, we tried to do it through xdp_do_flush_map() which only makes sense for devmap not XDP_TX. So explicitly kick the virtqueue in this case. Reported-by: Kimitoshi Takahashi <ktaka at nii.ac.jp> Tested-by: Kimitoshi Takahashi <ktaka at nii.ac.jp> Cc: Daniel Borkmann <daniel at

Counting number of datasets and appending them
Hi there, I have a question on how to read a bunch of dataset, assign each of the dataset to a matrix in the memory, and append them. Suppose I have 20 dataset saved to different .rda files named gradeFileData1, gradeFileData2,...., gradeFileData20. And I would like to read them each into a dataset in the memory, then combine them. I wrote something like: e1<-new.env(parent=.GlobalEnv)

Applyiing mode() or class() to each column of a data.frame XXXX
Hi everyone, I am attempting to use the apply() function to obtain the mode and class of each column in a data frame, however, I am encountering unexpected results. I have the following example data: v13<-1:6 v14<-c(1,2,3,3,NA,1) v15<-c("Good","Bad",NA,"Good","Bad","Bad")

fixup for debug package and R2.4.0
A number of users have spotted a terminal problem with the 'debug' package under R2.4.0, along the lines of > mtrace(x) > x() Error in attr(value, "row.names") <- rlabs : row names must be 'character' or 'integer', not 'double' This arose from a bug in 'rbind.data.frame' in R2.4.0 itself. The bug is fixed in R2.4.0 patched, so the

recursive methods for concatenating sets of files
Hello, I would like to read sets of files within a folder, perhaps using recursive methods. Right now, I rename the files before import. It would be even better to do this without renaming files, without providing explicit filenames, perhaps by importing files based on chronology, and translating each filename into a header? Please excuse my ignorance, and help cure my clunky programming

Mongrel not starting: `initialize_without_backlog'': Cannot assign requested address - bind(2) (Errno::EADDRNOTAVAIL)
Hi I have a rather strange problem with mongrel and I would be grateful if anyone could assist me with resolving. I have an application running mongrel 1.1.1 and rails 1.2.5 with ruby 1.8.6. It was all working fine and starting as expected. But I did a server reboot once and mongrel has refused to start up since. I get the following error:

read.table reads "i" as NA_complex_
I just noticed that read.table() and type.convert() interpret the string "i" as a missing value of type complex. > str(read.table(text=c("i\ni\ni\ni\n"))) 'data.frame': 4 obs. of 1 variable: $ V1: cplx NA NA NA ... > str(type.convert("i")) cplx NA If there are other strings in the column it makes the column character so most people

EFI: ipxe + syslinux = Failed to read blocks: 0xC
Hello dear list, Using VMware I built a test setup of a server with dhcp, tftp and a http-server and several pxe-clients with EFI mode turned on. This setup worked, albeit with the exponential-like decay of IO rate I described earlier. The work-around of using HTTP works beautifully though. So it was time for the next step. Migrate this setup to our automated testing environment that runs

dimnames in array
Hello, I'm working with an array; I'm trying to make it so that an array of dim(42,2,2) has names whose length corresponds to that of the array, and am hoping someone with experience with this can see what I'm not doing correctly: data11 = array(0,c(41,2,2)) y = lsoda(x0,times,fhn$fn.ode,pars)#This is make.fhn() from colloc infer package# y = y[,2:3]
