border of a polygon in contour.kriging - geoR
Dear all,
When a conventional kriging and then a contour plot is limited with a polygon (as possible with krige.conv and contour.kriging), the
polygon border is displayed in black by default.
> kc<-krige.conv(CZdata,loc=pred.grid,borders=czpoly,krige=krige.control(obj.m=ls))
> plot(CZcoord,xlab="x",ylab="y",type="n",asp=1)

get vector data from contour
I have carried out a spatial interpolation (Kriging) using surf.gls()
The contour plot looks very plausible and the image plot is o.k too.
The problem is, hovever, that I need the vectorized isoplethes, as in
contour().
Unfortunately, I found no solution to get the internal data from
contour().
Is there a possibility to extract contour lines as x-y-polygon from a
grid without hacking plot3d.c?

about contour - get contour coordinates - exclude area display
Dear all,
I wonder about what could actually be possible with the function "contour":
1/ - the definition of contour lines is most often meaningless when the contours are drawn in areas where no real data points exist.
It can however happen that irregular distributions lead to more or less irregular clouds of data points. Interpolations (eg: loess
regression, GLM, etc...) are however

Could we make filled.contour() more suitable for PDF viewers?
Note that I sent this to r-devel, yesterday.
However, it didn't appear on the mailing list.
So, I'm resending it.
Today, I plotted the following:
> filled.contour (,,z, color.palette=terrain.colors)
It looked OK, in R.
However, when I created a PDF document, the plot (and other similar plots)
had grid (and other) lines in it, that shouldn't be there.
Note that this problem is more

Creating a polygon from an unordered set of points
Hello,
I have the contour of the shoreline of a lake. I have measured data points
away from the lake shore signifying a particular depth. The data is not
ordered as a polygon and hence trying to draw it creates a series of lines
all over the place. I would like to turn the points into a ordered set that
results in a smooth polygon.
I have tried a "nearest point" approach. An example

overlaid filled contour plots
I'm trying to make a set of contour plots of bivariate kernel density
estimates, showing three such plots overlaid,
similar to this plot

except that I would like to have the contours *filled* (using
transparent colors). To make this reproducible, I've
saved the results of KernSmooth::bkde2D() in the following file:

Can I calculate the area of a polygon?
Hello,
I'm verry new in R.
My Problem:
I have a PostgreSQL-Server with installed support for the R-Language.
And now I have a table with a Polygon like this:
test_db=# select * from geo where id=1;
id | koerper
----+---------------------------------
1 | ((0,0),(0,2),(2,2),(3,3),(5,0))
(1 row)
Now, I need to know the area of this object. Please, can you tell me, if

Inverting polygon
Hi
I'm using polygon to delimit an area on a plot. However my intention is
to "superpose" the outside area of the polygon (I want to cover an
extrapolation of contour(interp(...)).
Is there an easy way of doing it ?
Thanks

krige and polygon limit problem
Dear all,
I'm new on R and this mailing list. We work on spatial rainfall estimation
with R and Grass.
We have a problem with the krige function from the sgeostat package. We would
like to limit the estimated area with a polygon limit.
I use a 50 points polygon to describe my work area. The krige function work
quiet well without limit. But if I use this option I have the following error

Get contour of a map
Hello everybody,
I search a function which returns the contour of map with levels like contourLines, but I would like this function return the border of the map too, because the function contourLines cannot consider the corner of the map and it is not adapted to fill polygon after that.
Thanks in advance

contour lines intersect
Hi,
Sorry if this is already known...
contour() sometimes draws contour lines that intersect.
Is there a temporary fix?

Plot contour inside a polygon
Dear,
I am trying to plot contours (with filled.contour function) inside UK area, so that no contours are plotted over the sea. I was wondering if anyone can help me with this task and if I can get any suggestions how to do that.
Thank you,

Plotting a polygon with xyplot
Dear R helpers
I would like to plot a string of points as a polygon in xyplot. I'm a bit
lost as to how to get the points plotting in the correct order. I would
also like some hints on how to render or fill the polygon.
Scrpt below and data file attached

countour and poygon shading
Hi,
I have a contour plot and I want to shade a polygon (the area below a line)
but the polygon shading wipes out the contour lines. Does anybody know how
to shade the polygon and still see the contour lines? Thanks.

Overlaying a single contour from a new data array in levelplot
Dear R-Help community,
I am trying to overlay a single contour line over a correlation plot using
levelplot in the lattice package. These are the two arrays:
1) a correlation plot over Africa - so each grid square is a different colour
dependent on correlation - this is in an array: result_cor with dim[465,465]
2) a single contour line from a ***different data source*** - this is from data

Center of Closed Contour
I am searching for a utility in R which will determine the mean location of
a closed contour and eventually record the location in an ASCII file. By
means of the contour utility in R, I am able to produce an image of a contour,
but I am seeking a procedure which will produce the coordinates of the
center of mass of the contour. From my actual set of data, the contour
utility will produce several

merge maps from shapefile to lattice
Hi everybody:
Could anybody help how I solve the next problem?.
I'm doing interpolation maps of tropospheric ozone of my region, and after
create it using IDW, and kriging methods, I want from shapefiles (*.shx,
*.shp, *.dbf, *.sbx & *.sbn ) create contour over the interpolation maps.
Could anybody tell me how do it?.
Thanks in advance.

Fill a polygon with a pattern
What is the simplest (namely: minimum number of libraries or conflicts)
way to fill a polygon with a pattern?
For example, suppose I have (in a graphic file, like a jpeg) the
drawing of an "X". Then I fill a polygon (like a triangle) with
this pattern, and get something like:
X
XXX
XXXXX
XXXXXXX
(where the border "X"s could be truncated).

gradient fill of a grid.polygon
Dear list,
Following a recent enquiry, I've been playing with the idea of creating a
colour gradient for a polygon, using the Grid package. The idea is to draw a
number of stripes of different colours, using the grid.clip function. Below
is my current attempt at this,
library(grid)
rotate.polygon <- function(g, angle=0){ # utility function, works fine

filled maps
Hi R-Help,
I would like to make filled contour maps of ocean data overlaid by
costlines from the map package.
I can draw the filled contours and the coastlines om the same plot, but
the filled contour also covers part of the land. To get rid of that I
tried to draw a filled coastline map on top of the filled contour, but
the filled map only draws the closed contours - so most of the land is
