Having searched the Packages it seems that I can have either a Gnome-based or Java-based GUI for my Ubuntu machine. However, I can get neither to work. Having run R as root, I then run the following command: install.packages("gnomeGUI", dependencies=TRUE) The

100% CPU when running (cran2deb) JGR on Debian
Dear all, I installed the amd64 cran2deb [1] JGR binaries on a fresh Debian testing, and JGR is missbehaving. When JGR starts up, one core of the CPU goes to 100% and stays there, even though I am keeping it idle and not performing any operation. I tried JGR with both sun-java6-jdk and openjdk-6-jdk, debian-liv:/home/liviu# update-alternatives --config java There are 4 choices for the alternative

I have installed java-1.6.0-sun and its development

Upgrading to R 2.5.1 on Ubuntu Feisty 64
Hi there, A new thread was started on the R list about problems to upgrade R to version 2.5.1 and we were re-directed on this list. We are two with exactly the same problem and the same distribution (Ubuntu Feisty 64). We are unable to upgrade to R 2.5.1. The r-base-core package is version 2.4.1 in Ubuntu repositories while all others r-cran related packages are upgraded to R 2.5.1

JGR/Deducer Installation
Hi, Sorry if this is to wrong mailing list. In that case, please point me to correct mailing list. Please also excuse rather long mail - I am not sure what piece of information would be useful for anybody who could help me. Couple of days back I had put a query about box-plots using GUI. I got some excellent suggestions. One of them was to use JGR/Deducer. It worked quite well for my needs.

JGR, Java and Kubuntu 7.04 ...
R-ists Yet again Java rears its ugly head. I have Kubuntu 7.04 running the Kubuntu-repository version of R 2.4.1-1. Yes it isn't the very latest version but this is not the issue here. I want a Windows-like environment and everyone is talking about JGR. I downloaded it and installed it along with rJava. Both compile and install satisfactorily. But when I come to run it: >

iMac Intel Core Duo; OS X 10.4.8; Java 1.5.0_06; R 2.4.1; JGR 1.4-14; rJava 0.4-12; iplots 1.0-5 I'm unable to get JGR or iplots to load using "library(JGR)" or "library(iplots)", respectively. This feels like it might be a classpath or Mac look-and-feel issue, but I'm not sure where to go with it at this point. I've searched the fora and web to no avail. Any
