Contour Plot on a non Rectangular Grid
Dear All, I would like to plot a scalar (e.g. a temperature) on a non-rectangular domain (or even better: I would simply like to be able to draw a contour plot on an arbitrary 2D domain). I wonder if there is any tool to achieve that with R. I did some online search in particular on the list archives, found several queries similar to this one but was not able to find any conclusive answer. I

Equal number of cuts in a contourplot with trellis
Dear R-helpers, I need some help to produce a set of contour plots that I am trying to make in order to compare surfaces between the levels of a factor. For example: library(lattice) g <- expand.grid(x = 60:100, y = 1:25, ti = c("a","b","c")) g$z <-with(g, (-1e-4*x-1e-3*y-1e-5*x*y)*(ti=="a") + (1e-2*x-1e-3*y-1e-4*x*y)*(ti=="b") +

Overlaying trellis xyplot on contourplot
Friends: I wish to overlay data points on a contour graph. The following example produces a nice contour plot, but I have not mastered the concept of using panel functions to modify plots. Can someone show me how to overlay the data points (given after contour plot statement) on the contourplot? --Seth model <- function(a,b,c,X1,X2) # provide model function for contour

Trellis Conditional contourplot
Hello All, I've problems to interpret the contourplot for a binary response dependent variable. For example, I ploted the survived probability for the titanic3 dataset, http://www.geocities.com/useebi/data/CondenContour.jpeg Trellis displayed two panels of contour, one for dead and one for alive. However, the contours between the two panels didn't conform to the rule of

Buggy trellis.focus() with xyplot ?
Hi: (Tried to find a bug report about this issue, but was unable to find it, let me know if this is a known issue) I have been working on an interface to highlight xyplot panels on mouse overs in JavaGD but I have stumbled with what seems to be a bug in trellis.focus. I am using R 2.8 with lattice 0.17-15 *** To replicate the bug: 1.- display an xyplot. For example, from the xyplot help page:

need help with ordering of plots
I want to do a series of contour plots, 4 in all. The data is coming from a data frame named "nd.frame", which has elements "xdf", "ydf", "zdf", and "pndt". I am treating "pndt" as a factor, and it has four levels. I make a call to the lattice graphics routine "contourplot" like so:

add one point to contourplot()
Hi All, I want to add one point to contourplot().  I used contourplot() in my code like contourplot(z ~ a + b |c, data) I understand there is plot.axes argument for filled.contour(), but it  did not work for my code. I also tried plot() and text() for contourplot(), but got this error: "plot.new has not been called yet" Any suggestion for adding a point in contourplot()? Thank you very

contourplot, xyplot, aspect ratio, mfrow
Hi, I am gradually moving from the classical R plot functions to the library Lattice I have some questions about contourplot () and its arguments: 1/ I am working on geographical coordinates which makes necessary that the X (longitude) and Y (latitude) units be represented with the same distance on screen. This was obtained in the classical R plots with plot.default(x,y, asp=1,...) and then

: (Lattice): Overlaying more than one trend surface using contourplot() and wireframe()
Hi, Is there a way to plot more than one trend surface using the functions contourplot() and wireframe(). I have found an add=T in contour(), but no equivalent argument in contourplot() and wireframe()? I have taken the example 11-2 (pages 441-451) from Design and analysis of experiments (Montgomery 2001, 5th edition) to see if this could be done in R. I have managed to plot individual

contourplot:how to get it to label all contours like 'contour'
Hi, one of the nice things about contour is that it labels all contour lines. contourplot only labels each particular elevation a single time. i.e., if there are two contour lines corresponding to z = 45, it will only label one of them. is there a way to get contourplot to automatically label all the contour lines, even those that are repeated? i ask because i want to plot contour plots *w/

How to overlay a global map on a filled contour?
I would like to plot some lat-lon data in a filled contour, and then overlay a map of the globe on top. I am trying something like this: filled.contour(lons, lats, glb.data, plot.axes={axis(1);axis(2);map(projection='rectangular',parameters=0,add =T)} ) The filled contour plots fine, and the map shows up, but only as a very tiny little black rectangle in a small area of the

How to add lines to lattice plot produced by rms::bplot
I have a plot produced by function bplot (package = rms) that is really a lattice plot (class="trellis"). It is similar to this plot produced by a very minor modification of the first example on the bplot help page: requiere(rms) n <- 1000 # define sample size set.seed(17) # so can reproduce the results age <- rnorm(n, 50, 10) blood.pressure <- rnorm(n, 120,

contour plots
Hi All, I'm having difficulty making a contour plot a would like some help. A standard contourplot can be made by having an x,y, and some matrix (shape x*y) with contents: x = 1:10 y = 1:10 cont <- matrix(runif(100,min=1,max=2),nrow=10,ncol=10) filled.contour(x,y,cont) Looks very nice. Sometimes data comes in a different format however. Basically an x and an y, and a vector z with all

Isocontour-lines of spatial data on a rectangular grid (not plots!)
Dear R-Listers, I have spatial data on an equidistant rectangular grid, similar to topographic data. I know that there are quite a few R-packages or base functions that provide nice iso-contours plot, but I don't want a plot, just the smoothed isocontour line of ONE level (e.g. 10 mm). Data sets are large, so it would be preferable if the availability of regular grid data could be exploited,

Contour plots of four two-dimensional matrices
I have four large two-dimensional matrices of which I want to create contour plots. Something like filled.contour(<matrix>) contourplot(<matrix>) works but only gives me one plot at a time. If I combine the four matrices into one three-dimensional matrix, which I'll name "seven", there should be a way of doing something like this contourplot(seven[,,k] for k in 1 to 4)

contour lines for levelplot
Hi, I would like to add contour lines to a (trellis/lattice-) levelplot. Sure, there is the "contour=TRUE" argument, but this uses "cuts=..." (which is usually chosen very high for my plots. I guess cuts=99 is the best you can do (?)) for plotting the contour lines. Furthermore, I do not like the numbering of the contour lines this way. Therefore, I tried to add a

coplots
Hello list members, I am new to this list and don't know very much about what R can do or how to program it, but I am interested in plotting 4 variables as sequential contour plots (or surface plots), something like the conditioning plots for 4 variables (coplot(X1~X2|X3+X4)). To be more specific, I need a tool that will automatically create contour (orsurface) plots of X1 vs X2 vs X3 for

Hydrology plots in R
Hello, I am trying to create a plot often seen in hydrodynamic work than includes a contour plot representing the water speed with arrows pointing in the direction of flow. Does anyone have any idea how I might add arrows based on wf$angle (in the example below) to the plot below? Thanks in advance!
