Plot with Julian dates.
Dear Sir/Madam:
I simply want to draw x-y plot with Julian dates (x) and numbers (y).
Please see below for my program.
In the older version of R, the plot(jdat, miles) worked without any problem.
But, with the new version of R, plot(jdat, miles) does not work any more.
So, I added log="" option (as far as I know, it is a default setting, so
log="" should not be needed).

Hi,
Just to signal that when I want to plot POSIXct variable on x using
format within plot(), I get what I want on the plot but with a number of

Warning messages:

hist function+label second y-axis

I?d like to craete a line not a bar in the hist function, but regrettably I

problem with hist() for 'times' objects from 'chron' package
Hello dear useRs and wizaRds,
I encountered the following problem using the hist() method for the
'times' classes
from package 'chron'. You should be able to recreate it using the code:
library(chron)
# pasted from chron help file (?chron)
dts <- dates(c("02/27/92", "02/27/92", "01/14/92", "02/28/92",
"02/01/92"))

axis() default values for "lty", "lwd", and "col"
Hi,
I would like to recommend a minor modification in axis() which I believe
can simplify the making of plots for publications. I am trying to define
default values for par() in order to make labels bigger and lines thicker,
so that the resulting plots look good when resized for publication
purposes. I ran into the following problem...
axis() does not use par() values as default for

Hi,
I am trying to change the number of the ticks on each axis, but every time I can not succeed and receive the error message shown below even I use the default values:

Error in axis(side, at, labels, tick, line, pos, outer, font, vfont, ...) :

Using logarithmic y-axis (density) in a histogram
Hi,
I am searching for a possibility to display a logarithimic y-axis in a histogram. With plot that's easy (e.g.
plot(1:10, log="y")
but for histograms this does not work the same way: I tried
hist(rnorm(1000), freq=FALSE, seq(-4, 4, .5), ylim=c(0.001, 0.5), log="y")
Which gives the expected histogram but also warnings for my log="y" command

about changing line type and line width in Taylor Diagram
Dear all,
I am new to plotting Taylor Diagram using plotrix package within R, hence
this post. I have written a script which plots Taylor Diagram with one
reference and 7 model values. However the font size, line width and line
type are not clear when saving the diagram as a jpeg file. I tried the
functions lty, lwd and font but no apparent change. I am attaching the
script here. Any help would

no y-axis
HI @ all,
I'm looking for a simple solution to supress the y-axis - but only the drawn
scale - not the values.
Only the numbers should be displayed.
I tried yaxt="n" but there everything of the y-axis is supressed.
Thanks
GeO

Axis line not appearing with axis(tick=FALSE) (PR#8998)
Full_Name: Sean Pieper
Version: 2.3.1
OS: Windows
Submission from: (NULL) (67.188.92.37)
Hi, I am trying to create a qualitative figure for which I don't want tick marks
or numbers, but having some axes would be nice.
If I do:
plot.new()
axis(2,labels=FALSE,tick=FALSE,lty="solid",lwd=1)
I expect this should give me a vertical line on the left edge of the plot, but
nothing

Reset par(xaxp) in plot
R-Helpers;
This seems simple to set graphic parameter, but I tried plot a graph
with 10 intervals in x axis with par(xaxp = c(0, 150, 10) but to no avail:
par(xaxp =c (0, 150, 10))
plot(age, y18, type="n", ylab="Height (m)", xlab=" age (Yrs)", font
= 2)
lines(age, y6, lty = 4, lwd = 2)
lnes(age, y10, lty = 1, lwd =2)
lines(age, y14, lty = 2, lwd =2)

Plot ticks and tick labels: thickness, colour?
I am displaying several series in one plot, and would like to make
them distinct without having to employ a legend.
I managed to color tickmarks, but have been unsuccessful with either one of
a) making tickmarks thicker (without increasing the axis at the same time).
From reading ?axis:
lty, lwd: line type, width for the axis line and the tick marks.
in would appear that I cannot

x axis
Dear R users,
I am quite desperate for help. I haven't used R in a couple of years and I'm currently finishing a masters project and running out of time to figure out my problem. I have read and tried the examples on many websites, in your forums and R Help yet still can't manage to change the x axis. I am using R 2.8.0 on windows.
I'm sure there must be a way to do this as many

Triangular filled contour plot
Hi all,
I am working on a filled contour plot which shows a triangular matrix data
set (as shown below). Is there a possibilty to draw a triangular filled
contour in a equilateral triangle (like a ternary plot)?
Thanks in advance
Johannes

Labeling lines in xyplot
Hello,
I apologize in advance as this example seems really elementary. Below I
have created a simple scatterplot with lines. I would like to label
each line with the name of the village, instead of using a legend. Can
someone please let me know how to do it.
Thanks in advance -- John
