Sorry for the probable repeat post but I can only search the list up to 2002 (is there a better way?). I am using the RH9 RPM from CRAN but packages like AnalyzeFMRI say that tcltk is not found. Dear R Commander experts, I have now had multiple failures in loading R Commander with R version 2.10.1 (most recent one on the CRAN site) on a Mac running OS 10.5 or 10.6. The installation of R Commander seems to proceed normally, but when I try to start up R Commander, it never loads. It appears that it is loading the tcl/tk package that is failing even though I have started up X11 in advance.

Hi UseRs, I've just installed 2.10.0 on Ubuntu hardy, compiling from the tar.gz bundle. install.packages() just says "Error in install.packages() : no packages were specified" The "normal" hardy 2.6.2 version pops up a tcl/tk menu for repositories. I'm assuming I missed a configure option for tcl/tk, but the configure script says that --with-tcltk is the default.

It turns out that the behavior of starting just Tcl was actually a bug. Apparently the intention was to attempt to start Tk regardless of the DISPLAY variable, because some TclTk implementation such as Aqua Tcl/Tk don't require DISPLAY and thus would not be loaded.
