rgdal on a Mac
I am trying to install the rgdal package on my Mac OS X 3.9. I downloaded and installed the GDAL libraries from Fink and then tried to install rgdal and got the following message. I tried to determine if the GDAL libraries were in my path but I'm not sure how to do that. Any ideas? Thanks. trying URL 'http://www.biometrics.mtu.edu/CRAN/src/contrib/rgdal_0.4-10.tar.gz'

Connecting to PostgreSQL/PostGIS from R (rgdal?)
Hello, I've been trying every now and then to find a cross operating system solution that would let me access PostgreSQL (and PostGIS) from R, or to access R from PostgreSQL. I know of pl/r, which accomplishes the latter, but has yet to be successfully ported to Windows. Similarly, I've tried to use Rdbi and DBI, but I haven't had luck with those on Windows either for connecting to

problem loading rgdal with Rapache, problem solved due to libexpat with apache.
Has anyone had problems with Rapache that don't show up on command line execution of R? I just ran into this loading rgdal in Rapache page and having a problem with loading shared object. The final complaint was that Stop_XMLParser was undefined- this was surprising since grep -l showed it in expat lib and it worked fine from command line. Finally, I noted the search path had apache/lib ahead

Using RGDAL to "copy" header information...
R-geographers... I'm trying to solve a problem to implement a line-by-line tiled processing using RGDAL (read 1 line of an image, process the one line, write one line of the image to a binary file). Everything except for the final step I'm able to do using a combination of RGDAL and r-base commands. Below is the basic structure, the input file "elev" can be any image file
