Handshake exception in Rserve [Broadcast]
We had something similar, and as far as I recall the problem turned out to
be that we had not set the config file to allow remote connections.
This would probably be better put on the Rosuda mailing list:
http://mailman.rz.uni-augsburg.de/mailman/listinfo/stats-rosuda-devel
Hope this helps,
Matt Wiener

Dear all,
I'm trying to use R-functions from Java. I want to use the Package Rserve.
Everthing is installed and I can run my Java-testprogramm.

Rconnection r = new Rconnection();
double[] d = r.eval("rnorm(10)").asDoubleArray();
...
But now I get always arrays with ten "0.0", which is not correct
I suppose, that is is a problem from R, because at the fist time (last

Rserve/RandomForest does not work with a CSV?
Hi all,
We're using Rserve and RandomForest to do classification from within a
Java program. The total is about 4 lines of R code:
library('randomForest')
x
y
future
fit<-randomForest(x,y,no.action=na.roughfix,importance=T,proximity=T)
p<-predict(fit, future)
What is very frustrating is that we have tried this two different ways
(both work in R):
1. Load x, y, and future

'system' command through Rserve
Hello,
I've installed an Rserve instance on a remote server. I have no problem
interfacing with it and running most commands. I have loaded some R
scripts on the remote server, and one of them contains a system command
to copy a file (created by the script) onto another server. When I run
the script on the remote server itself, the script works as I intend: it
creates a .csv file and uses

DetachedEval Issues
Hello everyone,
I have been attempting to make use of the newly implemented detachedEval functionality and I am having a few teething issues.
My code works fine when tested with both the Client and the Server on a single machine, but issues arise when I run them separately.Possibly because the local / local connection is running voer a Unix socket rather than tcp proper?

Rserve (Anyone?)
REXP has an asBytes() method. Will this capture the output of an R plot
function if a proper graphics device is used? It appears R insists on
sending plot output to a file. Kind of strange since it insists on loading
all your data into memory before it can do anything.
If so then does anyone know what this would be? I prefer png or jpeg.
Example:
c is an RConnection

Help with Rserve
Dear colleagues:
I'm very interested in Rserve because I'm trying to model (time
series) remotely using a terminal (Windows XP) over a database in a
server (Windows Vista) by internet.
My first question: Is Rserve the solution to work remotely with R (for
time series analysis) with databases?
If this is the solution I have the next problem:
The client application of Rserve works over

Cannot Compute Box's M (Three Days Trying...)
Does it work if you supply the closing parenthesis on the call to boxM?
The parser says the input is incomplete and a missing closing parenthesis
would cause that error..
// create a string command with that variable name.String boxVariable =
"boxM(boxMVariable [,-5], boxMVariable[,5]";
// try to execute the command...

How to create a table structure in Java code?
You are entering the quoting hell - you are missing quotes and escapes for \n. it would be much more reasonable to use the rConnection.assign method instead of pasting any content through the parser.
Cheers,
Simon

Fetching Warning Messages
Hi,
I am facing one problem of fetching R warning messages in Java Code
using Rserve. It is easier to trap R Error messages by using catching
RSrvException. I came to know one way of fetching R Warning messages, i.e.
using "withCallingHandlers", below is my Java Program, which uses
withCallingHandlers of R :

How to create a table structure in Java code?
I suspect that you are looking for something like:
read.csv(textConnection(
"5.1,3.5,1.4,0.2,setosa
4.9,3,1.4,0.2,setosa
4.7,3.2,1.3,0.2,setosa
4.6,3.1,1.5,0.2,setosa
5,3.6,1.4,0.2,setosa"
), header = FALSE)

How to create a table structure in Java code?
Thanks! I just figured it out (thanks to "Beyond Compare") and was coming here to post back.
The boxM test doesn't work with that (now, finally working) REXP structure, but I probably now need to create a table or something and parse that structure.
So much fun! :)
Thanks again.

RServe - How to use 'createReference' method?
I need to input a txt, or xls, file from a client to R, using RServe.
>From what I've been reading, the best way to do this, is using the
'createReference' method, from REngine package.
But I couldn't find any documents exemplifying it's use. I got to upload a
file from java? And then? How do i refeer the file to this method?
Best Regards,

Cannot Compute Box's M (Three Days Trying...)
Just print the string you are asking to R to evaluate. It doesn't make
any sense as an R expression. Fix that, and things will work.
