Dear group, I am nearly beside myself. After an entire night spent on a niggling little detail, I am no closer to to the truth. I loaded an Excel file in .csv form into R. It apparentely loads as a list, but not the kind of list you can use. Oh no, it converts into a list that cannot be converted into an integer, numeric, or vector, only a matrix, whihc is useless without integers.

Dear help group, Just fyi a markov chain is a sequence of transitions between states (say A,T,G,C - on a gene) with a given probability for each transition. In this case there'd be 16 different kinds, each with a different weight. Hi there! I have found a trange problem with getting pairs()-plots to show properly in latex \subfloat environments. If i generate images of these plots with pdf() and include them in subfloats, they will either show up in grayscale, or sometimes the datapoints of the pairplots are missing. I have a file Server CentOS 5.10, its on the internet, so I compress all csv into one file using (tar -czvf compressed_files.tar.gz *.csv) on this server so that I can download them as one compressed file to save bandwidth, Disk space on this server available is 50Gig, so when I copy the files onto Redhat EL 5.9 and decompress them using (tar -zxvf *.gz) It decompresses maybe 80% then get error:
