Naming a random effect in lmer
Dear guRus:
I am using lmer for a mixed model that includes a random intercept for a
set of effects that have the same distribution, Normal(0, sig2b). This set
of effects is of variable size, so I am using an as.formula statement to
create the formula for lmer. For example, if the set of random effects has
dimension 8, then the lmer call is:

1. A typo in the /etc/shorewall/interfaces file has been corrected.
2. Previously, the "add" and "delete" commands were generating
incorrect policy matches when policy match support was

Help with ca.jo and cajools (Johansen's Cointegration)
I am trying to run a conintegration analysis. I am a former user of S-Plus and understand the output of the coint and VECM output, but I am having trouble understanding the equivalent output in R.
Here is what I ran

Logging only files transferred not directories
Hello,
I'm running my rsynce server on Win2k3 Server. One client under Linux and
another on Win2k3 Server. The problem is not really OS related though.
My Server 2k3 client command is:
C:\Progra~1\cwRsync\bin\rsync -rtv --ignore-errors --stats --delete
--delete-during --delete-excluded
--link-dest=/cygdrive/d/previous/c/backup.1 --files-from=files-from.txt

Table Command (PR#1182)
Full_Name: Manisha Desai
Version: 1.3.0
OS: UNIX
Submission from: (NULL) (156.111.36.213)
There may be a bug in the table command.
The value of 0 does not appear to show up (at least in this version of R).
The following is an example:
> blah<-c(rep(1,100),rep(0,100))
> table(blah)
Gives the following:
blah
1
100
Doing a summary shows that blah does contain values of 0.

Windows Offline Folders
Am running Samba 2.2.7 on Red Hat 8.0 with Windows 2K clients patched to SP4
Creating off line folders works fine but if any file is modified off line
and then sync'd back when the laptop is reconnected to the network it comes
back with an unable to connect - access denied message. But I can quite
happily copy the files over manually.
I have attached the log file (log level = 3) for the

This sounds like a very interesting proposal. Many compilers clone
loops and use dynamic checks to enforce invariants in one copy of the
loop. Is this intended to be similar to that style of approach?

Asterisk 13 High CPU usage
Hi all,
I was using 13.5 but upgraded today to 13.9 (13.10 came out a few hours
after I upgraded).
On both 13.5 and 13.9 asterisk seems to use 100% of the CPU. This usually
happens a few hours after starting asterisk. A restart of asterisk gets the
CPU back down, but only for a little while.
There asterisk box has no call traffic flowing through it, just 15 or so
registrations.
I'm sure

OPUS support in Asterisk 13
Hi all,
Sorry if this has been asked before. I searched a lot, but found
conflicting answers, so hoping for some clarification.
My question is does Asterisk 13 support OPUS? If so which version exactly?
If asterisk 13 requires a patch, which is the correct one and where do I
get it?
Kind regards,
C

Differences between Chan_SIP and PJSIP with NAT and STUN
I'm dialling from the snom and every few calls asterisk sends media to the
phones external IP and it works!
And then now and again it sends the media to the phones internal IP and I
hear nothing. I'm really at a loss.

bad seagate drive?
Hi list,
I''ve got a system with 3 WD and 3 seagate drives. Today I got an email
that zpool status indicated one of the seagate drives as REMOVED.
I''ve tried clearing the error but the pool becomes faulted again. Taken
out the offending drive and plugged into a windows box with seatools
install. Unfortunately seatools finds nothing wrong with the drive.

Direct printer port access in Wine?
Hi:
I have a Windoze program which uses the printer port for interfacing
(not printing). So far, it has indicated when I run it with Wine that
the printer port is found but the attached hardware is not responding.
I also can't print anything in Wine, but perhaps I can make some
progress with that as I have recently found some documentation on the
subject.
Can programs that access the

Policy base forwarding issues
Hello All,
I am trying to setup a linux box as a forwarding router based of src IP. The
problem is that it does forward the pkts to the intended server specified in
the ip rule, but it also forwards it to the original dst (dst specified in
the pkt).
Here is the setup:
