RWeka
Hi, I downloaded RWeka successfully. (At least I do not see, where I could have made a mistake.) Then I tried to load it by the library-command. To my surprise this did not work. Result: library(RWeka) Fehler in .jinit(c(system.file("jar", "weka.jar", package = "RWeka"), system.file("jar", : Cannot create Java Virtual Machine Fehler: .onLoad in

How can one use R-code and R-functions within C-Code?
Dear everyone, the following problem: Our group has written a lengthy program in c++, to which we would like to add some additional features. Because we are not sure if those features are actually useful, we would prefer to take a "quick and dirty" approach just to try them out. The additional feature is that in every iteration of the algorithm membership-probabilities should by

screensavers in general
Hi, I tried some windows screensavers with Wine. Most screensavers start with the configuration screen without a possibility to start the main screensaver part. It's the same thing when I rename a screensaver file from 'somewhat.scr' to 'somewhat.exe' and try to run it with a doubleclick on my Windows 2000 PC. (*.scr: the screensaver starts, *.exe: the configuration screen

R save very huge matrices in files
I have to work with really huge matrices (about 1000*1000 or more). And I want to save those matrices in some file on my computer. I tried to do so by using the command write.tabe(SMatrix,file="C:/Programme/rw1061/SMatrix.txt",sep=" ",quote=FALSE,row.names=FALSE,col.names=FALSE) SMatrix is the matrix I want as a file. Unfortunately this does not work. Error message: Error:

track a stolen laptop via rsync
My wife's Windows XP laptop was stolen a couple days ago. Every night the computer automatically preforms an rsync to a Debian Linux computer (the dumb-dumbs didn't steal that). My question: if the laptop successfully connects to the Linux box can you think of anyway I can use this fact to track the computer (maybe an IP address from its location., etc.)? By they way I could really care

Fitting function with if-clause (nls; e.g. heaviside)
Hallo! I want to fit a function. The function is e.g.: y = c+m1*x if x<0, c+m2*x if x>=0 where m1, m2 and c is a parameter and x, y are variables of a data frame. I think using nls is appropriate. But I do not know, how to type this formula in nls. Can anybody help? (If there is a possibility to use a Heaviside-function this would be enough.) Karl

More problems with lattice and postscript
Dear List members, I am trying to produce some trellis graphics and to save them in a postscript file but I only get blank files. R behaviour is certainly strange because I use a loop to generate the graphics (see code below). When I change the loop variable myself the postscript graphics are OK. I am using R 1.9.1 (2004-06-21) on Debian GNU/Linux which I try to keep updated on a daily basis. I

nls fitting problems (singularity)
Hallo! I have a problem with fitting data with nls. The first example with y1 (data frame df1) shows an error, the second works fine. Is there a possibility to get a fit (e.g. JMP can fit also data I can not manage to fit with R). Sometimes I also got an error singularity with starting parameters. # x-values x<-c(-1,5,8,11,13,15,16,17,18,19,21,22) # y1-values (first data set)

Time is off by an hour in my XEN vm
Hello, I''m hiring a XEN virtual machine running Ubuntu at a hosting company. My XEN virtual machine is hosted on a server which has some other VM''s running on it. They all use ubuntu or debian. locking and gfs
Hi there,I run samba as a PDC and tried to make this PDC high available with redhat cluster suite and gfs. I experienced the following problem while doing this: If I set the option locking = no in smb.conf it takes about 4 minutes to copy a file of 1GB size. If I set locking = yes it takes about 1 hour. Im not sure if locking = no sets locking off for all locking options. At least I need locking

understanding zfs/thunoer "bottlenecks"?
Currently I''m trying to figure out the best zfs layout for a thumper wrt. to read AND write performance. I did some simple mkfile 512G tests and found out, that per average ~ 500 MB/s seems to be the maximum on can reach (tried initial default setup, all 46 HDDs as R0, etc.). According to http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/ArchitectureWP_062806.pdf I would
