Still problems with "step()" function
Hi R users:
I don?t know if anybody have had the same problem with 'step()' funtion.
If I type the commands

converting coordinates from utm to longitude / latitude
Hi,
is there a function in R to convert data read with read.shape and which is originally in UTM coordinates into longitude / latitude coordinates?
I found the convUL() function from the PBSmapping package but I have no idea how I could apply that to the read.shape object.
Many thanks,
Werner

error message with stats package fx cor R aqua v1.14
Hello,
Sorry if this is somewhere in the archives but i couldn't find it. I
am using the funtion cor() and inputting a large matrix with a column
of 0, for which i get NA's for. I'm looking for a way to overcome
that divide by 0 error btw but my real issue is this:
I specify the method as pearson but the error messages always say kendall

conversion of LL coordenates to UTM problems (ED50-WGS84 format)
Hi R-Users,
I have plotted a region whose polygon coordinates are given in shp format ED50 UTM (zone=30) ) using "readShapePoly" in library(maptools).
Now I need to plot a set of points in that region (my.dataframe, with X and Y geographic coordinates), which have been read using GPS in Longitud-Latitud form (using WGS84 system), so I first need to convert these Longitud-Latitud data

Bubble plot on shapefile - projection issues?
Dear R help list,
?
I am working on some data from a study on the habitat use and movement patterns of fish using a marine protected area in Hawaii.? We have a number of acoustic receivers in a MPA, and any time a tagged fish passes within range it records the date and time of detection.? I am trying to make bubble plots?showing the number of detections for each fish at each receiver.? I have been

from long/lat to UTM
Hi:
Is there any function in R which can convert the
long/lat to UTM(Universal Transverse Mercator)?
There are quite a few converters on Internet.
However, the interface is designed as input->output
which I can not convert lots of locations at the same
time.
Another question is whether there is a function in R
which can tell the time zone from the location's
lat/long?
Thank you!

Wrong values when projecting LatLong in UTM
Hi R helpers,
I tried to convert a list of LatLong coordinates (in DD format) into UTM
zone 11 NAD 27. I first tried this from PBSmapping:
library(PBSmapping)
LatLong<-cbind(c(56.85359, 56.85478),c(-118.4109, -118.4035))
colnames(LatLong)<-c("X","Y")
attr(LatLong, "projection") <- "UTM"
attr(LatLong, "zone") <- 11

2 questions about cluster analysis
Hello everyone!
I have two questions regarding cluster analysis with the package 'cluster'
:
1. I have a dissimilarity matrix in csv format, and I would like to use
it to generate a dendogram using 'hclust'. How do I make that matrix
compatible with the function? I think it has to be similar to the objects
generated by the 'dist' function. Any ideas?

Virtio-win RPM?
I should have this in my head by now...
I tried migrating a physical Windows host last night using virt-p2v CD.
It ran for 3 hours and then died. I'll get details later from the log
but as I think about it, I'll bet it died because I never installed
virtio-win in my Fedora migration server.
The documentation says do "yum install virtio-win" - but this is RHEL

Converiting longitude/latitude to utm
Dear all,
I have been trying to convert coordinates from longitude/latitude to utm
but I got an error. As soon as the longitude coordinate is greater than 90,
I get the folloowing error message: "error in pj_transform: latitude or
longitude exceeded limits"
Here is what I did:

spTransform longlat to utm
Dear all,
I am trying to project my LongLat-maps to a plane.
The ultimate purpose is to do a search of points in vicinity of other points using overlay-commands (sp) with radius in km.
I am applying spTransform (package rgdal) and it gives my some curious results.
An example.
Let's take a point lying somewhere in Germany, zone=32U
x <- 8.968735
y <- 49.454735

[RFC] A new multidimensional array indexing intrinsic
After having spoken to Johannes, I think we had a classic
misunderstanding on what "extending" means.
1.
The most obvious why for me was changing GEP to allow variable-sized
multi-dimensional arrays in the first argument, such as
%1 = getelementptr double, double* %ptr, inrange i64 %i, inrange i64 %j
(normally GEP would only allow a single index argument for a
pointer-typed base

Counting elements in 2 rows of a matrix
Dear R-users:
Sorry to bother so late with this question, which surely has simple answer.
I'm working with matrices that contain either "1" or "0", for example:
[,1] [,2] [,3] [,4] [,5]
A 1 0 1 0 0
B 0 1 0 1 0
C 1 0 1 0 0
D 1 1 1 0 1
I want to count the number of "1" common to, say, A and B, the

Como controlar la altura de "colorkey" en levelplot de RatserVis
Hola miembros de la lista,
Estoy utilizando la función levelplot del paquete rasterVis para graficar

provocar cambios. Alguna idea de por qué no está funcionando?

Problem installing packages
Dear R-experts,
I'm a new R user and so far have no complains about ir. However I
still can't figure out how to install packages. I'm running the R 1.5.0
(Carbon) under OS X. I just downloaded some packages from CRAN (Tree,
among them) and moved them to the library folder in R. When the R session
started, I was expecting that using the command library(tree) would do it,

Plot por factores
hola a todos y todas,
Estoy haciendo un estudio sobre las mareas y tengo dos variables que
quiero relacionar, la altura del mar y el tipo de marea viva, muerta o
intermedia.
Unos datos simulados podrían ser:
> datos <- data.frame(v1=sin(1:50), v2= rep(c("a","b","c"), each = 5,
> len = 50))
Ahora mi pregunta, si dibujo la altura de la marea sería:
