Fitting a model with an offset in bigglm
Dear all, I have a large data set and would like to fit a logistic regression model using the bigglm function. I need to include an offset in the model but when I do this the bigglm function seems to ignore it. For example, running the two models below produces the same model and the offset is ignored bigglm(y~x,offset=z,data=Test, family=binomial(link = "logit"))

Question on RandomForest in unsupervised mode
Hi, I attempted to run the randomForest() function on a dataset without predefined classes. According to the manual, running randomForest without a response variable/class labels should result in the function assuming you are running in unsupervised mode. In this case, I understand that my data is all assigned to one class whereas a second synthetic class is made up, which is assigned

Tabulation and missing values
I think this is one for Gabor. I don't seem to be able to find my way to an answer despite numerous rereadings of factor and table. Here is a toy example: ### Some data EthnicCode <- c("European/Other", NA, "European/Other", "European/Other", "Pacific", "European/Other", "European/Other",

randomForest: too many elements specified?
I getting "Error in matrix(0, n, n) : too many elements specified" while building randomForest model, which looks like memory allocation error. Software versions are: randomForest 4.5-25, R version 2.7.1 Dataset is big (~90K rows, ~200 columns), but this is on a big machine ( ~120G RAM) and I call randomForest like this: randomForest(x,y) i.e. in supervised mode and not requesting

randomForest predictions with new data
Hi I am new to R, randomForest and I have read about how to use it in your old mails. I have also run the predictions examples from CRAN. But I still don't understand how to use it right. The thing that I don't understand is how to run the result from the randomForest on one line (post) with newdata to get a good guess. What I mean is if I put in a new observation of iris how do I

RandomForest Proximity Matrix
Greetings R Users! I am posting to inquire about the proximity matrix in the randomForest R-package. I am having difficulty pushing very large data through the algorithm and it appears to hang on the building of the prox matrix. I have read on Dr. Breiman's website that in the original code a choice can be made between using an N x N matrix OR to increase the ability to compute large

about randomForest
hello, I want to use randomForest to classify a matrix which is 331030?42,the last column is class signal.I use ? Memebers.rf<-randomForest(class~.,data=Memebers,proximity=TRUE,mtry=6,ntree=200) which told me" the error is matrix(0,n,n) set too elements" then I use: Memebers.rf<-randomForest(class~.,data=Memebers,importance=TRUE,proximity=TRUE) which told me"the error is

Quintum Tenor AX and Echo
Let's try this again. I have a Quintum AX Tenor gateway sending calls to Asterisk from BT analogue lines connected to FXO. The agents hear an echo on their side but incoming callers hear the conversation fine. I can't seem to find the problem. Anyone seen this issue before? <p style="margin: 0; padding: 0; border-collapse: collapse; font-family: Tahoma, Arial, Sans-Serif;

Memory limits for MDSplot in randomForest package
Hello, I am struggling to produce an MDS plot using the randomForest package with a moderately large data set. My data set has one categorical response variables, 7 predictor variables and just under 19000 observations. That means my proximity matrix is approximately 133000 by 133000 which is quite large. To train a random forest on this large a dataset I have to use my institutions high

randomForest - classifier switch

I am using this code: > set.seed(71) > rf.model <- randomForest(similarity ~ ., data=set1[1:100,], importance=TRUE, proximity=TRUE) Warning message: The response has five or fewer unique values. Are you sure you want to do regression? in: randomForest.default(m, y, ...) > rf.model Call: randomForest(x = similarity ~ .,

RandomForest tuning the parameters
Hi Sacha, On second thought, perhaps this is more the direction that you want ... X2 = cbind(X_train,y_train) colnames(X2)[3] = "y" regr2<-randomForest(y~x1+x2, data=X2,maxnodes=10, ntree=10) regr regr2 #Make prediction predictions= predict(regr, X_test) predictions2= predict(regr2, X_test) HTH, Eric On Tue, May 9, 2023 at 6:40?AM Eric Berger <ericjberger at gmail.com>

Integrate functions with loops
Hi i am having a problem with the 'integrate' function the function i want to integrate has the form sum(vector^x) i have defined the function with a for loop first - integrandtotest <- function(x) {a<-rep(0,len=2) for (i in 1:2) {a[i]<-t[i]^x} sum(a) } the results gives errors ########### Error in integrate(integrandtotest, lower = 0.1, upper =

randomForest crash?
I am attempting to use randomForests to look for interesting genes in microarray data with 216genes, 2 classes and 52 samples. My data.frame is 52x217 with the last column, V217 being the class(1 or 2). When I try lung.rf <- randomForest(V217 ~ ., data=tlSA216cda, importance= TRUE, proximity = TRUE) the GUI crashes. Convergence problems with survreg()
Dear R mailing list, I'm trying to fit a censored regression model to a large (dimension of the design matrix is 2e5 by 7) right truncated data by means of the survreg(Surv()) function, as suggested by Paul Johnson on his "R Tips" web page. Possibly due to the sensitivity to the initial values of the Newton-Raphson routine in use by survreg(), resulting regression outputs turn

lme plot
Hi all, I have a questions regarding mixed effects models: I'm trying to plot e.g. fitted vs residuals for each level of the random effects, and i'm getting the same error. I guess this might be a problem of the graphic capabilities of R. Is there any way to obtain those plots? library(nlme) attach(ergoStool) names(ergoStool) [1] "effort" "Type"

bimodal data
Hi, Does anybody have a good tip of how to treat bimodal data to perform statistical analyses? My data set ranges from -1 to 1 (any values are posssible in between) and most data are either close to -1 or close to 1. They are the results of a two choice experiment where individuals could choose more than once in either direction and scores were calculated. Simone Simone Immler
