help with Tukey Mean-Difference Plot
Dear R users, I would appreciate for some advise how to generate a Tukey Mean-Difference Plot with the tmd function part of the lattice library. I have two test results (log transformed) which showing a correlation on a scatterplot. However the correlation line is parallel displaced depending on a clinical condition. I thought to a Tukey Mean Difference Plot would show me the difference

Problem with Weighted Variance in Hmisc
The function wtd.var(x,w) in Hmisc calculates the weighted variance of x where w are the weights. It appears to me that wtd.var(x,w) = var(x) if all of the weights are equal, but this does not appear to be the case. Can someone point out to me where I am going wrong here? Thanks. Hello All, Has anyone written a function for the distribution function of a *doubly* non-central F-distribution? I looked through the archives, but didn't find anything. Thanks! Wolfgang

R codes for g-and-h distribution
hi! I would like to ask help how to generate numbers from g-and-h distribution. This distribution is like normal distribution but span more of the kurtosis and skewness plane. Has R any package on how to generate them? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! Form, Filame Uyaco --------------------------------- [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Export knfsd/ext3 on doubly patched kernel(knfsd/reiserfs) OK?
Hi - if I have a doubly patched kernel (2.4.5) (1) Apply gkernel/CVS ext3 patches (2) Apply Neil Brown/Reiserfs team knfsd and reiserfs patches Will ext3 be exportable by knfsd (i.e. inherit automagically the nfsd_operations thingies from ext2) or does it need further patching? -- Chan Shih-Ping (Richard) <cshihpin@dso.org.sg> DSO National Laboratories 20 Science Park Drive

oplock behavior of samba 3.2.6 causes corruption of netscape mailbox files, mails seem to be received doubly or triply
Hi guys, we're running a samba server on a sles 9 with sp2. The server hosts the netscape mailbox files for our users in our terminal server environment. There were never problems with these files. After upgrading from samba 3.0.21 to 3.2.6 (sernet-built) the mailbox files of nearly all users got corrupt while working with netscape. We got the following symptoms. The users seem to receive

Doubly Multivariate LME
Dear R: I am trying to fit a doubly multivariate LME (DM) where I have two response variables measured on two occasions per person. Specifically, reading and math scores measured at the beginning and ending of a school year. The response variables have a correlation of r = .85. The response variables in the data matrix are stacked in a vector with a dummy code flagging each outcome and with

doubly multivariate analysis in R
20 subjects were measured in 5 conditions (thus repeated measures) and for each subject in each condition there are 4 response measures (thus multivariate as it is a combined score that needs to be compared across the conditions). So, using a multivariate approach to repeated measures this is a doubly multivariate analysis. I would appreciate any suggestions as to the best way to do such a

Bounding or constraining parameters in non-linear regressions
Dear R-Users, Being an engineer and not a statistician, my desired course of action may either be impossible or very simple. I am attempting to fit a non-linear model to some measured data. One term in the model contains a square-root, but in the course of regression, this term turns negative and an error occurs. I started using Micrsoft's Excel Solver, and then I turned to NIST's

dataplot oen source? (was: RE: FW: re: GUI's for teaching)
IIRC, the license stated in the source code of dataplot is rather restrictive. I don't think one is allowed to use the source as can be done with GPL code. FW: re: GUI's for teaching
Have a look at the GUI on dataplot, NIST's plotting software. It is implemented in tcl/tk. The site states it is "public domain software" -- open source? I can't find anything about the license. In any case... http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/software/dataplot/ Brett A. Magill, Evaluator Research, Assessment, and Evaluation Saint Louis Public Schools Brett.Magill at

read-in, error???
Dear Users! I encountered with some problem in data reading while I challenged R (and me too) in a validation point of view. In this issue, I tried to utilize some reference datasets ( http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/strd/index.html). And the result departed a bit from my expectations. This dataset dedicated to challenge cancellation and accumulation errors (case SmLs07), that's why this

NIST StRD linear regression
NIST maintains a repository of Statistical Reference Datasets at http://www.itl.nist.gov/div898/strd/. I have been working through the datasets to compare R's results to their references with the hope that if all works well, this could become a validation package. All the linear regression datasets give results with some degree of accuracy except one. The NIST model includes 11 parameters,

Creating a map with central Asian countries
Dear all, I am trying to create a map for central asian countries(Kazakhstan, Uzbekstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenstan, and Tajikstan). I tried google for shapefiles and Rdata files of central asia, but I can't seem to find them. There is only a world map and individual maps for each countries. If I use individual maps to create this map, how do I put them on a same graphic with different colours?

Calculation of Central Moments
Dear R helpers If for a given data, I need to calculate Mean, Standard Deviation, Mode, Median, Skewness, Kurtosis, is there any package in R, which will calculate these moments? Individually I can calculate these, but if there is any function which will calculate these at a stretch, please let me know. Maithili The INTERNET now has a personality. YOURS! See your Yahoo! java binding in central maven repository
Hi, The last libvirt artifact published to the maven central repository was 0.4.7 in 2011. The libvirt.org/maven2 repository is updated, but - sometimes the libvirt.org webserver is not responding and that breaks the build. - for similar reasons projects depending on other maven repositories can not upload to central repository Can we get back updates to maven central repo? Best regards,
