Security hole in mgetty+sendfax
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hi, a security hole has been found in the auxiliary fax scripts "faxq" and "faxrunq" in the mgetty+sendfax package. It has been in there since the first day those scripts were written. Due to improper quoting in these shell scripts, it''s possible to execute code with a foreign user id, and get root access to the machine. The

using mapply to avoid loops
Hello, I would like to use mapply to avoid using a loop but for some reason, I can't seem to get it to work. I've included copies of my code below. The first set of code uses a loop (and it works fine), and the second set of code attempts to use mapply but I get a "subscript out of bounds" error. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Xj, Yj, and Wj are also lists, and s2,

Hi there, I'm brand new to R, so let me know if this question is not appropriate for this list. I've been reading through the documentation and have tried a number of things, but am pretty much stuck so far. Tinn-R and R 2.15.0 integration
Hello, This is WJ. I downloaded R(2.15.0) and Tinn-R(2.3.7.1) from http://sourceforge.net/projects/tinn-r/ for my computer (window 7 OS). I want to know how to integrate Tinn-R with R(2.15.0). So far, I was able to find some web-site has step for integration, so I updated the following steps. Open the file 'Rprofile.site' and add the following lines to the end of the file:

Errore : requires numeric/complex matrix/vector arguments
Dear R users,I'm a new user of R. I'm trying to do a LM test an there is this type of error: Error in t(mX) %*% mX : requires numeric/complex matrix/vector arguments. To be clear I write down the code in which mY ( 126,1 ) mX (126,1) mZ(126,1) are matrix. LMTEST <- function(mY, mX, mZ)#mY, mX, mZ must be matrices!#returns the LM test statistic and the degree of freedom{iT =

save objects of own function to workspace
Dear R-helpers, I created an own function which looks like this s_elternmz <- function(Var="balt") { Dg_a<-mz[,c("asbhh","apkz",Var)] colnames(Dg_a)[colnames(Dg_a)=="apkz"]<-"bpkzm" colnames(Dg_a)[colnames(Dg_a)==Var]<-paste(Var,"_m",sep="")

x[x$a=="q",,drop=TRUE]
I'm trying to select a subset of a dataframe while dropping some factors. While the dataset gets smaller all Factor levels remain and I need to get rid of them. Strangely enough, I am almost certain that the same code on the same data worked OK earlier today - and it is not the first time that I'm not able to replicate earlier results with this command (I know, I might just be going

Current status on _outgoing_ Swedish/Dutch DTMF CLIP for TDM400 FXS interfaces?
Hi all, I have been looking at the code for both the zaptel driver (wctdm.c/wcfxs.c) and the asterisk channel driver (chan_zap.c) trying to figure out how much of this that has been implemented. So far I can see that the current stable 1.0.9.1 zaptel driver don't have the SETPOLARITY ioctl that would be required to properly signal the Swedish/Dutch CLIP, but the 1.2 beta1 has this

Read vector as multi-dimensional data in R by row

comparative density estimates
I have two series of events over time and I want to construct a graph of the relative frequency/density of these events that allows their distributions to be sensibly compared. The events are the milestones items in my project on milestones in the history of data visualization [1], and I want to compare trends in Europe vs. North America. I decided to use a graph of two overlaid density

Reading a bunch of csv files into R
Dear R users I am struggling from a data importing issue: I have some hundreds of csv files needed to be read into R for futher analysis. All those csv files are named in one of the three formats: (1) strings: e.g. London_Oxford street (2) Integer: e.g. 1234_5678 (3) combined: e.g. London_1234 I intend to use read.csv("xxxx_xxx.csv") but I only dealt with sigle documents before and

complex NA's match(), etc: not back-compatible change proposal
This is an RFC / announcement related to the 2nd part of PR#16885 https://bugs.r-project.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16885 about complex NA's. The (somewhat rare) incompatibility in R's 3.3.0 match() behavior for the case of complex numbers with NA & NaN's {which has been fixed for R 3.3.0 patched in the mean time} triggered some more comprehensive "research". Supperscript, subscript and double lines in the main/sub title and using greek letters
Dear R-help, I am trying to express myself as best as I can here. If you also use Latex to edit math reports or other languages with similar editing method, you'll see what I'm talking about. My sincere appologies if my question is not clear enough to some extend, as also I'm not able to provide my code here because I don`t know which one I can use... When editing the title in R
