RODBC on Mac OSX pointers?
Hi,
I'm trying to get to grips with accessing my postgresql tables in R
using RODBC. I have Mac OS 10.2.8 (Darwin 6.8) installed and R 1.8.0
installed from source and I have updated RODBC to 1.0-4.
On the ODBC manager end, I am using OpenLink software's iODBC
Administrator and I've set up a User DSN called "PostGRES" - odbctest
suggests that this is functioning:

It was easy to set up MySQL but I struggled immensely to get the stock

RODBC - problems using odbcDriverConnect without DSN
Hi,
I'm trying to use RODBC without having to set up a DSN, using hte
direct connection string in odbcDriverConnect. My connection attempt
looks something like:
> odbcDriverConnect(connection = "SERVER=localhost;DRIVER={/usr/lib/odbc/libmyodbc.so};DATABASE=myDB;UID=reader;PASSWORD=insecure;")
And this returns the message:

FW: Problems connecting with MySQL using odbcDriverConnect (RODBC package) on Linux
I think I figured this out. I should not have put the Driver name in
braces. Changing it from {MySQL} to MySQL seems to work.

Reading SQL Server Tables using RODBC
Hello Everyone,
I'm still quite new to R and am having trouble reading SQL Server Tables using RODBC. I've looked though the RODBC documentation as well as material I found online and in the book "Data Manipulation with R," but I just can't quite seem to get things to work.
Right now, I have code that looks something like:
channel <- odbcDriverConnect

RODBC not connecting from my Mac
iODBC appears no longer to come standard with OSX, so I installed unixodbc and set it up following instructions here: http://www.boriel.com/en/2013/01/16/postgresql-odbc-connection-from-mac-os-x/
I connected to my remote database with isql -v mydsn. No problem. Then I tried from R:
> library(RODBC)
> pg <- odbcConnect("mydsn") # waited for a couple of minutes before pressing

RODBC and Excel 2010 xlsx
Hi List, just to know if the issue is only a problem of mine or if it is a
general issue due to the new MS Office pack. I'm using R 2.11.1 32 bits in a
Windows 7 x64 with the MS office 2010 x64 installed. I can import .xls files
normally (the same way I did with my Excel 2007 32 bits). But the function
odbcConnectExcel2007 isn't able to import .xlsx files now that I have the

Importing data by odbcConnectExcel in 64 bit
I have probably an old question.
I have R.3.0.1 installed in 64 bit windows 7. The odbcConnectExcel in RODBC
library does not work. Tried odbcConnectExcel2007 still does not work.
Any ideas.
Thanks

RODBC: how to set the data-source?
Hello,
I want to try to connect R to PostgreSQL.
I have found that there are three ways:
DBI or RODBC or RPostgreSQL.
I tried around with DBI and RODBC but didn't get it running.
In both cases I'm not clear about how to set the driver/data source.
I get this error:

understand the instructions of the commands but can't see to connect to the
database. I have installed the Access Database Engine from the Microsoft
website. I get the following errors when I try to connect:

rodbc or unixodbc error
Hi,
I'm trying to establish a connection to a MySQL database, and am using the
rodbc package for it. This is in a GNU/Debian Linux box, with the
corresponding Debian unstable packages. I can login to my MySQL databases
from any shell and directory, so the problem is probably not there. Here's
an example of what I'm doing:

64 bit use of odbcConnectExcel
Hi All,
I'm using R 2.11.1 on 64 bit windows XP. The little function I wrote below
I use often to import the first 1001 lines in an excel sheet to R. This
works fine on the 32 bit version of R but fails on the 64 bit [both on the
same machine, using the same function, importing the same .xls file]. The
message from 64 bit R is:
