Spatstat - K2 index
Hi all,
I'm using spatstat to investigate the spatial structure of an arid shrub
population. The first-order intensity of my data does not appear to be
homogenous, so I would like to use inhomogeneous techniques. I realise
there is a inhomogeneous K-function available in spatstat, but there
doesn't not appear to be one for the pair-correlation function (O-ring
statistic). As such I was

Peculiar Problem with DNS
Hi,
I have hit a very peculiar problem with DNS.
We are using BIND9 as DNS with Samba (Ver 4.7.5). Off late we added a
new A record into one of the Zones using RSAT. It is not visible either
through RSAT or when we query using samba-tool. We search using RSAT or
samba-tool, it results in '0' matches.
However, when we attempt make a new entry with same name and IP, it
reports an

Another peculiar behaviour, this time with BIND 9 DNS with DLZ
Hi,
String of peculiar behavior continues...
Samba Version 4.7.5, Bind Version 9.8
No. of Samba-AD-DC Servers : 4 (dc1, dc2, dc3 & dc4). All FSMO roles are
on dc1.
All the while all things were perfect. Yesterday, due to some reason,
the BIND Service on dc2 stopped. This resulted in none of the other
domain controllers could resolve the names. On dc2, only named service
was stopped but

windows/g95 peculiarity
I'm not looking for an answer here, this is just a report of a
peculiar event I've observed
and can reproduce.
I'm developing a g95 (20050129) compiled package on windows xp pro
using R-2.1.1, and gcc-3.4.2 (mingw special). An older version of the
F95 package compiled and ran without problems. The new version of the
package includes extensive changes in the code.
The package has a

Peculiar timing result
I have been timing a particular model fit using lmer on several
different computers and came up with a peculiar result - the model fit
is considerably slower on a dual-core Athlon 64 using Goto's
multithreaded BLAS than on a single-core processor.
Here is the timing on a single-core Athlon 64 3000+ running under
today's R-devel with version 0.995-5 of the Matrix package.

ctl-D, cancel, ctl-D yields seg fault (PR#2773)
Full_Name: Robert Dodier
Version: 1.2.0 (2000-12-15)
OS: RH Linux 7.1
Submission from: (NULL) (128.138.88.127)
If I start up R and just do:
> <ctl-D>
Save workspace image? [y/n/c]: c
> <ctl-D>
then R segfaults.
"gdb `locate R.bin` core" reports:
(gdb) where

However, if I use q() then there is no segfault:

several bugs (PR#918) lists and matrices
## Thomas rightly points out that list() is not the best structure for

a peculiar LVM failure on CentOS 6 run as a VMware 5.5 guest
Hello listmates,
I have encountered a rather peculiar situation.
We have a Centos 6 VM (64 bit) running on a VMware vSphere 5.5 server. It
was running just fine until one day I decided to reboot it and it just
would not boot up. Effectively, dracut failed to initialize the LVM, much
like under the scenario described here:

Peculiar behavior of attached objects
I've just discovered R and think it is terrific. I quickly reproduced
results with a few lines of R commands that 7 years ago I had to do with
a larger fortran code and many calls to NAG routines. (I'm mostly a
computational plasma physicist, but occasionally delve into statistical
analysis of data.)
But I've come accross a very peculiar behavior of attached objects that

Peculiar difference between two Samba servers
I have two Samba servers acting with Server role: ROLE_DOMAIN_MEMBER running Samba 3.2.5.
Both have shares in their smb.conf, both are joined to Active Directory, and are using pam, nis, etc. so that users can authenticate against them (without having to re enter their passwords for each share) and see all permitted files.
Clients are a mixture Macs running OS X 10.5 and Windows clients. Windows

bin/55346: /bin/sh eats memory and CPU infinitely
Hi!
It seems /bin/sh in 4.8-STABLE has problem with SIGCHLD processing.
In short, it often fails to process it correctly, zombies float
around, jobs are not marked as finished in jobtab[] that fills memory
and takes much CPU to be processed.
Run this one-liner using /bin/sh and see hundreds of zombies:
#!/bin/sh
while :; do : & done
A kernel will halt this as soon as it reaches limits and

visualizing transition probability matrices
Dear List,
I have a couple of (~200) 3x3 transition probability matrices (ie each
defines a Markov chain). They are all estimated from the same
underlying process, so it ie meaningful to take their elemetwise mean
and standard deviation. [1]
First question: supposing that they are given in a list l, how do I
get their elementwise mean and standard deviation? Fortunately, the
mean of trans. prob.

Oblivion Horse armor Bug
Ok, I know this is a well known bug but I can't find a solution (if there is one).
When you mount a horse outfitted with armor from the horse armor addon the game just crashes.
Is there any way i could solve this? maybe by using njative windows dlls or playing around with winetricks?

Peculiar Boot Failure
Here's an odd one:
If I disable the FLOPPY DISK in the BIOS
of my ASUS Terminator K7, then FreeBSD
(4.8-STABLE) will fail to find the HARD DISK
when it boots.
More details:
Disable floppy in BIOS, try to boot machine.
BIOS sees hard disk (primary master, 20GB Seagate)
Boot loader loads
Kernel loads and boots
Kernel finds atapci0, ata0, ata1
But, kernel never sees ad0 and boot

Peculiar Polycom IP6000 behavior
Here's a strange thing.
I'm deploying Asterisk 1.6.2.9 with a pile of Cisco 79xx phones. For
conference rooms we're using Polycom IP6000's. We bought two of them
brand new.
When I configure one phone with a username(SPIDR-3758)/password , it
works fine. The other phone won't register with it's
user(SPIDR-3749)/pass pair. When I try to use the first phone with the
