When R is run from a terminal session, all of these capabilities are reported true. R is running on FC4. As the purpose of this script is to output the png file to a browser, it is unable to complete because of this. Any ideas are appreciated. We have an identical

Xvfb and R
Hi I have recently installed and implemented Xvfb (X virtual frame buffer) so that I can create jpegs using R over CGI (SUSE Linux 8.1 and Apache 1.3). I have noticed that in order to do this, a file (Rplots.ps) is created in my cgi-bin directory everytime a cgi script is run. This could cause problems though as I have a multi-user system where it is possible that two different users will run

Use of xvfb : X11 cannot allocate additional graphics colors. Consider using colortype="pseudo.cube" or "gray"
Hi, I use R in remote access on a Debian server. I need X11() to create graphical things so I use xvfb-run (Virtual X server environnement) R to allowing X11() capabilities to R. An other technique is to connect in shh -X to execute my R script. With the connection ssh -X, my R script is well executed. BUT when I use Xvfb, some graphics are created but an error occured and stop the script.

Using jpeg() function over cgi
Hi I have seen a few posts to this list regarding problems accessing the x11() device over cgi - namely, when trying to create a graphic using the jpeg() function, everything is fine from the command line but it won't work over cgi, producing the error: "Unable to open connection to X11 display" Has anyone actually solved this particular problem satisfactorily? Please reply

jpeg in batch mode
Hello, I am running some commands in batch on a server that I SSH into; some of the commands call jpeg(). If I continue to stay signed on (with my xwindows working on my machine) then the jpeg() command works (with a single caveat, below). If I leave it and sign off (with a nohup command in front of my BATCH) then jpeg gives me an error like this: Error in X11(paste("jpeg::",

xvfb question
First, I realize this might not be the right group. Please feel free to redirect me :-) I recently upgraded from CentOS 5.6 to 6.0. Since the upgrade, Xvfb will, on occasion, "just stop" (ie the process disappears from the system, as opposed to still being there but not working). I can't find any tracks anywhere that it might have left behind that might be clues as to why it

R Interface handholding
Hello, I need a bit of handholding with R, specifically, with writing packages for it. I'm a systems programmer, and am, on the request of several users of our software, working on generating R interfaces. For starters, I've written the following R function (which compiles): SEXP myincr(SEXP Rinput) { // Returns input integer incremented by one int input; SEXP returner; PROTECT(Rinput =

Problems for runing R in BATCH to generate PNG/JPEG files
Hello all: After I compile the R-1.7 with the follows in Linux7.3: configure --with-x --with-jpeglib --with-libpng --x-includes=/usr/X11R6/include --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib and make and make install. The R is able to generate PNG/JPEG files from the command line. However, when I put the same commands in a batch file and run: R --gui BATCH R.Batch.file It gave me a error in the

jpeg() on UNIX
Dear R users, I am currently having difficulty migrating a web application from XP to a SGI UNIX since when I run R in the background (i.e. in a process started from the web server) the graphics device jpeg() requires, but cannot connect to, X11. I could go via bitmap() and PS but wondered if there was another way forward. I am currently running R version 1.6.2. Ideally, I would like may R

Background color with jpeg and png devices
If I change the background color of a plot, with par(bg="red") for example, I get a plot with a red background when I use the postscript or X11 devices. With the png or jpeg devices, the background is white. Is this the intended behavior, or a bug? Is there anyway to get a non-white background with the png device? I'm using R-1.1.0 on Linux.
