R Package: mmlcr and/or flexmix
Greetings I'm a relatively new R user and I'm trying to build a latent class model. I've used the 'R Site Search' and it appears there's not much dialogue on these packages On mmlcr, I've gotten it working, but not sure if I'm using it correctly. On flexmix, I can only seem to get results for one class. I'm attaching my code below - if anyone

comparing columns in a dataframe
hello, I am hoping for some advice regarding comparing variables from 3 versions of a spreadsheet which have been combined into a single dataframe. The aim is to identify which rows have been changed. The dataframe contains 177 rows of data (each cell contains text). 'intersect' produced a file with 35 rows, 'union' a file with 303 rows and 'setdiff' a file with 130

Why is looping in R inefficient, but in C not?
Hey, I just read another post about calling R from C. Someone on stackoverflow (DWin makes me suspect its David W.?) referenced this: http://www.math.univ-montp2.fr/~pudlo/R_files/call_R.pdf Which made me think: Why is a loop in R bad, but in C not? And where exactly does looping cost the most? I wrote a piece of code for my bachelor's thesis where I loop from 1 to 500, and estimate a

Change log(J) to log(J+1) to stop log(0) from occurring in harModel
I think the code is part of the RTAQ package but is not included in it, as I obtained it from https://r-forge.r-project.org/scm/viewvc.php/pkg/RTAQ/R/HAR_model.R?view=markup&root=blotter&sortby=author&pathrev=1028. It is not my code and I make no claim to other's good work, and apologize if I should even be posting it I am not sure, but in the transform function it allows to

Switching log(J) to log(J+1) to avoid log(0) in HAR-RVJ model
I am working with xts dependent data, and my code is as follows (the problem is explained throughout): dat <- getdat("prices") dat <- read.zoo(dat, sep = "",format="%d/%m/%Y %H:%M", tz="", FUN=NULL, regular=TRUE, header=TRUE, index.column=1, colClasses=c("character", "numeric")) dat <- as.xts(dat)

error in survival analysis
This is a simple R program that I have been trying to run. I keep running into the "singular matrix" error. I end up with no sensible results. Can anyone suggest any changes or a way around this? I am a total rookie when working with R. Thanks, Rasika > library(survival) Loading required package: splines > args(coxph) function (formula, data, weights, subset, na.action, init,

Ryan's Q Post-Hoc for ANOVA
I'm using lm to run an ANOVA, and would like to use Ryan's Q as my post-hoc (as recommended by Day and Quinn, 1989, Ecological Monographs). I can't seem to find any methods in the base stats package that implement this post-hoc. Is there a good package of post-hoc methods out there, or has someone written a method for Ryan's Q previously? Thanks! -Jarrett

How to pick colums from a ragged array?
I have a large dataset (~1 million rows) of three variables: ID (patient's name), DATE (of appointment) and DIAGNOSIS (given on that date). Patients may have been assigned more than one diagnosis at any one appointment - leading to two rows, same ID and DATE but different DIAGNOSIS. The diagnoses may change between appointments. I want to subset the data in two ways: - define groups

segfault reading large BLOB from SQL Server
I am getting segfaults when I try to read a large binary object from a SQL Server database via RODBC. I am using the FreeTDS ODBC driver, and it has been working fine when reading from this same database. I have included relevant parts of the session below. Each row of the v_MAFiles view holds a text, html or pdf version of a document. The FileType entry is one of TXT, PDF, or HTML. If

Makefile patches
I have sent some patches to some Makefile.am's as well as to some configure.in's, particularly for building without gcc and gmake. Can someone review those patches, and/or commit them? (we are working at the CVS head these days, no?) I cannot build in Solaris without gcc/gmake, for example -- running "autogen.sh" in the ao project with the native Solaris compilers causes

Changing some values within a variable
Hi I'm new to R and would like some help with a couple of problems. I suspect the solutions are quite simple. I have a data.frame (data) with 40 variables and 5238 observations created from ~150 text files using read.table. I would like to change some of the entries within two different columns. Firstly, in the Group column I have groups A and B, I would like to select all As and change
