Why is bubbles() creating empty png graphs?
This code below produces empty XXX.png files - if I use plot(), it works
and if I enter the commands
png(filename=fn)
bubble(positions, do.sqrt=FALSE, main=q)
dev.off()
manually, it works as well.
I am lost - any help appreciated.
The weird thing is that it worked before I made some changes... (I don't
have a copy of the working version...).

using spplot (sp package) with 5 quantiles
Hi,
I'm using R 2.5.1 and gstat 0.9-39 library and I'm working with the
jura data set provided by gstat library.
I tried to plot a graph of metal concentrations (let's say Cd) with
the command spplot, but I realized that the default lags are equally
distributed between Min and Max. I did:
library(gstat)
data(jura)
jura.pred.xy <- jura.pred

diffusing GIS data in maps
Hi-
I am trying to find a way to diffuse GIS data on a European map. I have a
dataset consisting of particular locations scattered across Europe,
along with magnitude and value information. I can plot these as discrete
points with something like the following:
"geocode" is a dataframe with four columns: LAT; LONG; MAGNITUDE;VALUE.

bubble(circle) plot help.
I need help creating a bubbleplot, like a simple pseudo three dimensional scatterplot of circles whose sizes index a 3rd variable. I initially came across this at http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/graphcode.php?graph=73 but the circleplot function does not exist in fbasic as listed in the document.

Preferred way to create bubble plots?
I have to create a number of bubble plots, and am wondering what methods folks prefer for this task. I've been experimenting with the symbols() function, with text() to provide plot labels. Any opinions on the relative merits of this method versus others? One criterion would be the ability to fine-tune the placement of text labels. I would like to use lattice, but haven't found a way to

Bubble plot on shapefile - projection issues?
Dear R help list,
?
I am working on some data from a study on the habitat use and movement patterns of fish using a marine protected area in Hawaii.? We have a number of acoustic receivers in a MPA, and any time a tagged fish passes within range it records the date and time of detection.? I am trying to make bubble plots?showing the number of detections for each fish at each receiver.? I have been

Finding common an unique elements in character vectors
Dear R-list,
I have a problem which I think is quite basic, but so far google has not
helped me.
I have two vectors like this:
vector_1 <- c(Belgium, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Netherlands,
Portugal)
vector_2 <- c(Denmark, Luxembourg)
I would like to find the elements in vector_1 that are not in vector_2
so that i get a vector with these countries: Belgium, Spain, Greece,

2D Matrix Plot
Hello Everyone,
I am Naive user of 'R' statistical environment and still i'm in learning
mode.
I would like to know how to plot 2D data graphically. i.e. how to color code
each cell in 2D Matrix depending on it's value --- red equals bigger numbers
and blue indicates smaller.
For example my 2D matrix is
*4* *109.32* *108.06* *104.48* *3* *111.9* *105* *107.56* *2* *115.32* *

can you recommend a good manual for R that starts with a data set and gives
demonstrations on what can be done using R? I downloadedR Langauage
definition and An introduction to R but haven't found them overly useful.
I'd really like to be able to follow some tutorials using a dataset or many
datasets. The datasets I have available on R are

All the things run finely but Once I run the predict.gstat function it gave the error message - "memory.c", line 58: can't allocate memory in function m_get(). I run this code on LINUX sever but result is same. Would any one please be able to give a solution for

spatial cross-correlation
Hi;
I cannot find in the R html documentation a way to evaluate
cross-correlation in 2D data sets.
I would like to evaluate cross-correlation in a series of moving windows
between two maps.
i,e, specify several windows inside the complete 2D spatial matrixes and
for each one ofthese windows evaluate the 2D cross-correlation (commonly
conducted in the spectral domain).
Thanks in advance and best

default value for cutoff in gstat variogram()
I wonder what is the default value for the argument 'cutoff' when not
specified in the variogram.formula function of gstat. Computing
variogram envelops within gstat, I am comparing the results obtained
with variog in geoR and variogram in gstat, and it took me a while
before understanding that the cutoff default value is not the maximum
distance.
Can Edzer tell us about it?
