Installing R on Red Hat Linux, Tcl/Tk
Hi,
I've been trying to install R on Red Hat Linux 9 for some
potential users of my R/TclTk application. I tried using the
rpm for R 1.7.1 for Red Hat Linux 9. It told me that I needed:
libtcl8.3.so
so I looked for a binary release of Tcl 8.3.x on
http://www.tcl.tk/software/tcltk/8.3.html
but found that the link to the Tcl 8.3.x binaries pointed to
ActiveTcl 8.4.x . I couldn't see

Re: R-help Digest, Vol 17, Issue 25
hello,
I'm trying to use R to take an image matrix and paint it into a
tcltk canvas. I'm using R-1.9.0 within ess-5.2.0 on a linux
machine running the 2.4.30-31.9smp kernel. I'm using the
ActiveTcl8.4.6.1-linux-ix86 tcltk libraries.
When I run the following comands, however, I get an R segmentation
fault:

Installing a Tcl/Tk Extension on OSX
Dear R-Community,
I need the Img tk extension for my R package. It all works on my Ubuntu
machine (libtk-img). However I experience a great deal of trouble when I
try to install the package on OSX 10.5 or 10.6 (in fact I'm not able to
do it).
As I understand it, the ActiveTcl with it's teacup package manager do
not have an effect on the the x11 tcl installation which R accesses.

Batch mode creates huge diffs, bug(s)?
So the short summary of my problem is, the batch file rsync creates is HUGE
for a very small change. The idea is to create workstation image with
partimage, update it with some software and send the image update diff over
the wire to a large number of destinations over a satellite link, but the
batch file updates are several orders of magnitude too large. I don't know
exactly how partimage

I would like to try Tcl/Tk library on Windows.
I installed ActiveTCL 8.3.4.3 and add the environment variable TCL_LIBRARY

recompile R using ActiveTcl
Dear all,
While running some code requiring the "tcltk" package I have realised that my
version of R was compiled with the Tcl/Tk libraries included in Fedora 6. It
would be for me better to use the ActiveTcl libraries (which I have
under /usr/local), and I'm aware that this probably means to recompile R with
the proper configuration variables.
But...is it by any chance

Presenting R Results in Webpages
I apologize in advance that this question is not specific to R, but I thought some R users may be using this in their work process flow.
I would like to be able to have a tool (prefer "scriptable") that will take two images and some pre-written text and put it on an simple webpage.
That is, it would look something like the following:

file_column does not work with update model
When I am creating a model, everything works but not during update
(where I use Model.update_attributes(model_attributes) ).
I get the error:
Do not know how to handle a string with value ''image_xxx.jpg'' that was
passed to a file_column. Check if the form''s encoding has been set to
''multipart/form-data''.
The form is indeed multipart. Does

Link R with Tcl 8.6 on Windows
Dear all,
I am working on an R package intended for CRAN that requires Tcl version 8.6 because of the TclOO tcl extension and the -angle option for canvas text items.
R for Windows currently still ships with Tcl 8.5. Does anyone have experience with linking R under Windows to a Tcl interpreter of version 8.6?
When I link R 3.2.2 (installed from the binary on Windows 8) to a custom Tcl

help with graphics
I'd like to use lattice to make graphics under conditional structure like :
if (TRUE) { barchart(....)
dev.print(png, file = "image1.png", width = 600)
}
but there's nothing in the output file. It seems that it's too long to print graphic into the graphical output and the saved file is a blank picture.
it works if I do that without the conditionnal structure.
it doesn't

Two identical copies of an image mounted result in changes to both images if only one is modified
Hi,
I''ve observed a rather strange behaviour while trying to mount two
identical copies of the same image to different mount points.
Each modification to one image is also performed in the second one.
Example:
dd if=/dev/sda? of=image1 bs=1M
cp image1 image2
mount -o loop image1 m1
mount -o loop image2 m2
touch m2/hello
ls -la m1 //will now also include a file calles "hello"

Creating a Bootable Image file
Newbie Question:
We are using RHEL 5.2 with the 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5xen kernel. I am trying
to follow instructions that I found to create an bootable image by doing
the following:
I first created a 10 gig file and formatted the partition using the dd
and mkfs.ext3 commands:
dd if=/dev/zero if=generic.img bs=1024k count=10000
mkfs.ext3 -t ext3 generic.img

Installing one channel GUI
Hello,
I'm trying to install oneChannelGui on my computer. For this purpose, I've
tried to carefully follow the manual, and done the following:
1. I've installed the Affy power tools
2. I've installed TCL from
http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActiveTcl/ (by following the link at the
right side of the page, and installing activeTCL8.5.0.0)
Nonetheless, when I try running
