randomLCA
Can anybody, please, explain me how many parameter are estimated using randomLCA? For examples, model "dentistry.lca2random" estimate 1 scale (or variance, b_j) parameter and 2 position parameters (a_cj)? Doesn't it? Do I need at least 4 diagnostic tests for such a model? What happens if I specify options blocksize and byclass? How many diagnostic tests (or rater) I need?

Converting root ext3 to ext2?
Can anyone comment on whether or not it is possible to successfully disable the journal of an ext3 root file system prior to reboot? My application is to try and make sure there is no journal prior to installing and rebooting into a system which does not support ext3. I know that as long as the root is cleanly remounted r/o with no journal updates pending, this will be compatible. I'm

R on a computer cluster
Dear all, I usually run R on my laptop with Windows XP Professional. Now I really want to run R on a computer cluster (4 processors) with Suse Linux Enterprise ver. 10. But I am new with computer cluster. Should I modify my functions in order to use the greater performance and availability than that provided by my laptop? Is there any R manual on parallel computations on

Resize journal on root filesystem
Hi all, I'm trying to resize a journal on my root filesystem. This is Ext3, kernel 2.4.19, latest e2fsprogs + htree patch. I've remounted my root filesystem as ext2, but still when I 'tune2fs -O ^has_journal' I get ---- The has_journal flag may only be cleared when the filesystem is unmounted or mounted read-only. ---- So, how can I increase the size of the journal? including images in a plot
Does anyone know if it is possible to incorporate image files (e.g., jpgs or gifs) in an R graphic? I would like to make a scatterplot in which each point is a small picture of the animal represented by each value. Each picture would be a graphics file. Is there some way to use such files as plot symbols in R? Cheers, Steve -- -------------------------------------------------------- Steve C.

Other users home share contains contents of my home share
I have 3.2.7 as part of an Openfiler install. I have a homes share setup, but when I view any other users home share (\\server\otherusername) I see the contents of my own home share. I have the server joined to AD with winbind, and I am in a group that is listed as the owner of the other users home share, with rwx. What I am trying to do is allow a domain group access to all of the home shares via

Strange dmesg messages
Guys, I'm getting strange messages on my new server with dovecot-1.1rc4 + lda + sieve + ldap + postfix + suse10. This server is in production since monday, and worked fine until today. The only thing I had changed was dovecot from 1.1rc3 to 1.1rc4. I already enabled mail_debug, but I got any erros after that. Does anyone have any idea of what is happening? [FOR REVIEW ONLY] ESX work in progress
The following patches are where I'm currently at with ESX support. I can now import a domain from ESX along with its storage. Note that I'm not yet doing any conversion. In fact, I've never even tested past the import stage (I just had an exit in there). The meat is really in the 4th patch. The rename of MetadataReader->Connection was because the Connection is now really providing

[ESX support] Working ESX conversion for RHEL 5
With this patchset I have successfully[1] imported a RHEL 5 guest directly from ESX with the following command line: virt-v2v -ic 'esx://yellow.marston/?no_verify=1' -op transfer RHEL5-64 Login details are stored in ~/.netrc Note that this is the only guest I've tested against. I haven't for example, checked that I haven't broken Xen imports. Matt [1] With the exception of

Non-domain MFPs cannot access server
I have a Samba 3.4.7 server with ADS authentication. Windows clients have no issues, but non-domain MFPs cannot access shares, even with guest ok = yes. The MFPs can scan to a Samba 3.2.7 server, configured with Openfiler. This line is the same on both servers Got user=[printers] domain=[] workstation=[RNPE96472] len1=24 len2=24 This is what comes next on the working, 3.2.7 server:

prediction, gam, mgcv
I fitted a GAM model with Poisson distribution using the function gam() in the mgcv package. My model is of the form: mod<-gam(y~s(x0)+s(x1)+s(x2),family=poisson). To extract estimates at a specified set of covariate values I used the gam `predict' method. But I want to get estimate and standard error of the difference of two fitted values. Can someone explain what should I do? Thank
