psy version 0.65 released
Dear R users,
psy version 0.65 is on CRAN now.
psy provides several methods used in psychometry (kappa, icc, cronbach,
screeplot (with simulations), non linear mapping, etc.)
A bug has been fixed in function wkappa (weighted kappa): in particular

Is SEM package of R suitable for sem analysis
Dears,
I'm a college student and In doing my statistics homework.
I use R with SEM package as my tool for sem analysis,
but my teacher told me AMOS is more suitable for such analysis.
Could someone help tell me whether it is true
that some commercial software is better accepted in academic fields?
Sorry if I should not post such topics here.

aregImpute: warning message re: acepack and mace
hi,
i'm trying to learn how to use aregImpute by doing the examples provided with
the package, and after installing Hmisc.1.6-1.zip (for Windows),
and running the very first example on R 1.7.1, i get an error message warning
me about "mace" (see below) and acepack.
i found the acepack package, but its filename ends in tar.gz
and i'm finding it difficult to open (because its

aregImpute in Hmisc
Hi,
I have a dataframe ds1.2 - 503 categorial variables

Multiple imputation
Hi all,
I'm currently working with a dataset that has quite a few missing
values and after some investigation I figured that multiple imputation
is probably the best solution to handle the missing data in my case. I
found several references to functions in S-Plus that perform multiple
imputation (NORM, CAT, MIX, PAN). Does R have corresponding functions?
I searched the archives but was not

enhanced MDS
Hi again
Sorry, in looking again at sammon and isoMDS I see that they seem to do
exactly what I want, except that they are non-metric, which means, as I
understand it, that they relate the rank orders of the variables rather than
the actual distances.
Could I use these non-metric MDS packages even if my distances are metric?
Thanks

I have 2 questions on ANOVA with 1 between subjects factor and 2 within factors.

on the web with different solutions.

PCA and automatic determination of the number of components
Hi all,
I have relatively small dataset on which I would like to perform a PCA. I am
interested about a package that would also combine a method for determining
the number of components (I know there are plenty of approaches to this
problem). Any suggestions about a package/function?
thanks,
Nick

Design functions after Multiple Imputation
I am a new user of R for Windows, enthusiast about the many functions
of the Design and Hmisc libraries.
I combined the results of a Cox regression model after multiple imputation
(of missing values in some covariates).
Now I got my vector of coefficients (and of standard errors).
My question is: How could I use directly that vector to run programs such
as 'nomogram', 'calibrate',

concordance correlation coefficient using R
Hi.
I have data which i would want to assess the degree of agreement
between two assays, e.g., to evaluate reproducibility or for
inter-rater reliability. I have used the Pearson product-moment
correlation coefficient. It looks good ranginging between 0.90 to
0.998. Though this looks good. I am told the Concordance correlation
coefficient will give a better picture of how reproducible the assay

R CMD check
I am unclear on whether to run R CMD check pgkname as user or as root on Linux. When running as user, after all the latex, html, and man files are created, I get the following error message:

Has anyone dealt with that message?
When I run R CMD check a second time, all latex, html, etc. are recreated which takes quite a while. Is there

please help me on this problem
Dear all:
I am totally new to R, actually, statistics software.I get two very
simple, even stupid question:
1) where I should put the data file in order to use it , I tried to build
a
work dir in library( package:base) and save the text file (data) there,
then, I use read.table(filename), not work; I tried the full path, still
not work. I must have done something wrong.

RODBC Access
Dear R users,
I am trying to connect an Access database.
The code I use is :
channel<-odbcConnectAccess("Base")
table.db<-sqlFetch(Base,"table",colnames=T)
When I look at the table in R, the table imported lacks the first 41 lines, and the column names are the values of the 42nd record.
Any hints ?

Specifying an appropriate error term in a hierarchical regression
Hi all --
So I'm working through my statistics homework again, and trying to
reproduce the examples in the book (Kirk's _Experimental Design_,
third edition) in R. This is a completely randomized hierarchical
design (CRH-28(A)). The B factor is completely nested within the A
factor. Pages 480-482, for those playing along at home.
I can use:

Difficulty replacing NAs using Hmisc aregImpute and Impute
Hello R experts
I am using Hmisc aregImpute and Impute (following example on page 105 of The
Hmisc and Design Libraries).

read the help pages and example in above sited pdf file, but to no avail.
Here is example of what I did.

I am trying to use HMISC imputation function to perform multiple imputations
