values in between
Hey there
I have two vectors:
y<- c(0.4, 0.0, 0.2, -0.2, -0.6, 0.2, 0.0, 0.0, 0.4, 0.4, 0.2)
In the vector y, I want to access (in the order given) all of the values in
between each of the specific values of given.
I understand subsetting with y[i], but how do I get to ssomewhere in
between -0.6 and 0.2?
Thanks

Ordering List Items Chronologically
Dear colleagues,
Is there a way to order list items by date? I have a series of surveys in a list where the name of each list item is the date the survey was taken but the list items are out of order. Each data frame has a variable in it with the survey date as well, if that helps.
Yours, Simon Kiss

Months in alphabetical order rather than chronological order in graph
Greetings
Though I have months in chronological order in my data table, the data
were sampled every other month (i.e., February, April, June, August,
October, December), every time I try to plot them (on the x-axis) they are
plotted in alphabetical order. What am I missing?
Cheers

how to get f(x)=___ from a piecwise function

What I want to do is find an easy method to get at f(x) for some x I have
NOT specified in the above vector. For

chronological clustering
Does anybody know of any R functions to perform chronological clustering
as explained in:
Legendre, P., S. Dallot & L. Legendre. 1985. Succession of species
within a community: chronological clustering, with applications to
marine and freshwater zooplankton. American Naturalist 125: 257-288.

chronological scatterplots
Greets Folks,
I've been wrestling with how to better control plotting of time data and
just can't seem to see the right path. My dataset has thousands of points
distributes across a number of years. I would like to plot the responses
according to increasing time with nice boundaries - perhaps integer months
- along the abscissa. However, the earliest time occurs mid-month and I

Formatting outputs:(chronological object)
Hello everyone,
I have a data generated in a way similar to the following
library(chron);library(zoo)
date<- seq(as.Date("1990-01-01"),, as.Date("2000-12-31"), by = 1)
obs<- zoo(rnorm(length(date), mean = 10, sd = 2.5), order.by = date)
monthly<- function(date) as.Date(as.yearmon(Date))
result<- data.frame ( Date = obs = aggregate(obs, monthly, sum))

sorting by date
Hello,
I have set up a data.frame and one of the columns contains a date of the
form (with slashes as separators):
mm/dd/yyyy
I would like to use formulas on other columns in the data.frame organized
by date, for example:
tapply(var1, sort(date), mean)
However, when I try sort(date) it sorts based on the first two entries in
the date field:
9/1/2001 9/1/2002 9/1/2003 9/2/2001 ...
5.6 7.5

Help setting up relationships needed
This is a bit of a long question, but to those of you with some
experience, it should be fairly simple I think.
I have a notes page that should list all notes the user has entered for
all books chronologically like this.
Book One: This is the note.
Book Four: This is the note.
Book One: A different note, entered later.
Right now my models are:

Adding Records to a Table in R
Dear R friends,
I am currently working with time series data, and I have a table(as data

1985-05-01 135 4500
1985-06-01 120 1750

reshape2 issue continued
Hi again all,
Several replied ASAP that I also needed reshape loaded and not just
reshape2.
Hmmm tried that and I had some output but not the correct format.
What I need is to run simulations of time overlap between species as per
the simulation program data input constraints:
The basis for the simulations is a species by _time-use matrix in which
species are arranged in rows, and time

Sorting and getting occurrences of search in hit
Is there any way you could get the number of occurrences of the search
in one hit?
In a result I get the ferret_rank and ferret_score but not how many hits
the search generated in the current record.
I would also like to be able to sort after this when I search.

output data by date?
Dear Helpers,
I have a dataset X, with no missing values, everything is in order, R reads
it correctly, and I have already done some statistical analyses on the
dataset. The data are in order by date (six sampling dates in one year,
earliest to latest) and I now want to generate boxplots for each parameter
for each date.
However, R outputs the boxplots in some order that I do not understand (eg.

Array as time series?
Dear R-helpers,
I have 4-dimensional atmospheric data (x,y,z,t), which I want to analyse
on spatio-temporal diversities.
As far as I understand there only exists the possibility to construct
time series as two-dimensional matrices (mts).
For the moment, I hold it in different objects:
1. a four-dimensional array for the spatial related analyses
2. a two-dimensional mts timeserie, which was

Adding Records to a Table in R

Associative arrays
I just started playing with rails this week and am working on porting our
existing website to rails
in our navigation we have a list that has the days of the week that link to
the articles for those days.
this seems to be working when I had it in the template it would give me the
array I was looking for so I decided to move it to the helper so that I
could use it on all my templates.

No years() function?
Hi,
I'm trying to aggregate date values using the aggregate function. For example:
aggregate(data,by=list(weekdays(LM),months(LM)),FUN=length)
I would also like to aggregate by year but there seems to be no
years() function.
Should there be one? Is there any alternative choice?
Also, a hours() function would be great. Any tip on this?
Thanks in advance!
