Excluding a term on a search
Hi there, I have a model with indexed fields (F1, F2, F3...). I have a field-based search (+F1:..., +F2:...), and a global search (which queries all fields with the given terms). Both of them works ok, but I would like to exclude a term from the global search (though it should remain indexed to support the field-based search), is it possible? Thanks in advance. -- Posted via

disabling automatic indexing in acts_as_ferret
I''d like to be able to enable/disable the automatic indexing of documents acts_as_ferret does. Something like MyModel.disable_indexing MyModel.enable_indexing would be perfect. I need this because I do some indexing that requires visiting the parents of the model objects and my import method imports the children first, so the information isn''t there yet. I''d like to

Possibly same issue as ''duplicate search results'' topic?
Unfortunately I''m a newbie to ruby, rails, and acts_as_ferret. Also, I''m working in code I mostly didn''t write, so I''m kind of unsure of things. So this may be a dumb question. It also may be the same issue as the topic ''Duplicate search results'', but I''m not sure. When I update column values with

AAF Sorting by date - what am I doing wrong?
I''m trying to sort my search results by Date, in descending order. I''ve done quite a bit of reading through the forums here, and I''ve tried two different suggestions. This just returns results in the same order as a search without a sort: sort_fields = [] sort_fields << Ferret::Search::SortField.new("ferret_created_at",:reverse => :true)

pagination in acts_as_ferret
I''m just wondering where I would put the pagination for search results when using "acts_as_ferret". At the moment my search code is.. def search @query = params[:query] || '''' unless @query.blank? @results = Tutorial.find_by_contents @query end end Cheers SchmakO -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

undefined method `add''
We''ve been running into problems with ferret indexing lately. The problem is intermittent and some times it persists. acts_as_ferret for Ferret 0.10
Hi all, the current acts_as_ferret trunk is now ported to Ferret 0.10. Get it while it''s hot at svn://projects.jkraemer.net/acts_as_ferret/trunk/plugin Nearly everything works, besides this: - all queries are ORed (no way to tell the QueryParser to build AND queries by default) - more_like_this is broken I''m working with Dave to fix these things soon. acts_as_ferret with Mongrel and Edge Rails
Hi there, Has anyone tried acts_as_ferret with Edge Rails and Mongrel? When I install the plugin to a project that has Edge Rails frozen, and the Mongrel gem installed, I can''t start the server. There''s no error, it just doesn''t start. I''ve used acts_as_ferret in the past with WEBrick, and stable Rails releases without a hitch. If I remove the

acts_as_ferret causing strange behaviour
I posted this issue as a bug on the acts_as_ferret trac (http://projects.jkraemer.net/acts_as_ferret/ticket/36) but need to get this working asap. so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. To try and sum this up in better terms than I used in the original bug report, the problem I am experiencing seems to be related to the fact I am using inheritance in my controllers. I

Multiple Models w/ acts_as_ferret
I have multiple models all with: acts_as_ferret :fields => [...] (models = profiles, blogs, comments ) When I restart the server and perform any crud operation on one of the above models, the index is created/updated. If I then go and perform any crud operation on ANOTHER model, ...the index from that first model is being updated. Any ideas? Can acts_as_ferret handle this? Thanks
