geoR, plot of variog4 lines incomplete
I'm using R for Mac OSX version 1.14 (2129) and the geoR package version 1.6-5 (the current version in the R repository). I'm running R in OS 10.4.6 on a Mac G4 iBook (933MHz, 640 MB DDR SDRAM). I searched the R archive and did not find a posting on this issue. I want to use the variog and variog4 functions of geoR to characterize the pattern of spatial autocorrelation of tree

anova analysis on factors...
Hi all, If we wanted to study the effect on the mean of the hourly data based on the hours within a day... and we wanted to do Anova analysis... We have two choices: Please see below: Why are these two approaches giving very different p-values? And which one shall I use? Thanks a lot! 1. treating the hours as double/floating numbers: anova(lm(hourlydata~as.double(hours_factors))) Df Sum

help on setting boundaries for generating random numbers
Dear All,   is there a way to set low and high limits to a simulation with rlnorm()?   as an example:  a <-rlnorm(500,0.7,1)     I get the summary of   Min. 1st Qu. Median Mean 3rd Qu. Max. 0.1175 1.0590 2.1270 3.4870 4.0260 45.3800 I would like to set limits so that the simulated values minimum would be greater then 0.5 and maximum of less than 30. If during simulation a

Promedio elementos vector

instrumental variables regression using ivreg (AER) or tsls (sem)
Dear friends, I am trying to understand and implement instrumental variables regression using R. I found a small (simple) example here which purportedly illustrates the mechanics (using 2-stage least-squares): http://www.r-bloggers.com/a-simple-instrumental-variables-problem/ Basically, here are the R commands (reproducible example) from that site: # ------ begin R library(AER)

question about the results given by the Box.test?
Hello, I am using the Ljung Box test in R to compute if the resiudals of my fitted model is random or not. I am not sure though what the results mean, I have looked at various sources on the internet and have come up with contrasting explanations (mainly because these info deal with different program languages, like SAS, SPSS, etc). I know that my residuals should appropriate white noise( is

Factor Analysis Output from R and SAS
Dear Users, I ran factor analysis using R and SAS. However, I had different outputs from R and SAS. Why they provide different outputs? Especially, the factor loadings are different. I did real dataset(n=264), however, I had an extremely different from R and SAS. Why this things happened? Which software is correct on? Thanks in advance, - TY #R code with example data # A little

metafor
I had found the author's (Wolfgang Viechtbauer) earlier meta-analytic code in R, MiMa, useful. so I have been exploring metafor using an example dataset from MiMa. metafor provides a lot more. However, MiMa provided parameter estimates, standard errors, z values, etc. for individual moderators in the meta-analysis, but I don't see how to obtain these from metafor. Have you any help

Getting vastly different results when running GLMs
Dear R gurus I am analysing data from a study of behaviour and shade utilization of chimpanzees. I am using GLMs in R (version 2.13.0) to test whether shade/sun utilization is predicted by behaviour observed. I am thus interested in whether an interaction of behaviour (as a predictor) and presence in the sun/shade (also predictor) predicts the counts I have for the respective categories. I have
