What does persp() return?
I want to plot some 3D points on top of the grid produced by persp().

Adding Text to a persp plot using specific coordinates

I'm experiencing some hassle to add some text on a persp plot...
Here is the code to generate the persp plot:

persp, add lines/highlights
Hello R-sters,
I'm trying to add several lines to a response surface that I've plotted
using persp(). I've tried lines() using the "trans3d" function but I've
been unsuccessful in getting it to work (R v2.0.1). Essentially, I'm
trying to highlight one or more of the surface wireframe lines in a
bolder (or different) color. Any tips from those of you who have some

lines on persp plot - proper depth ordering
Hello R-help!
I am trying to draw series of lines in 3d, and I am not sure how to get the
depth set up properly - lines that are in front of other lines appear to be
behind and vice versa. I've been doing this by first generating an empty
persp plot, then adding lines via the data into trans3d followed by lines
(this is probably a bad approach, but it was the first one I could get
working).

persp plot + plotting grid lines
Dear all;
Does anyone know how to add grid lines to a persp plot? I've tried
using lines(trans3d..) but the lines of course are superimposed into
the actual 3d surface and what I need is something like the plot shown
in the following link:

How do I add a rug to a 3d 'persp' plot?
Hi all,
I have a (hopefully quick) question. I've got a fascinating set of fitted
surfaces in three dimensions corresponding to local linear multiple
regressions. I'd like to add rugs to the X and Y axes (corresponding to my
independent variables) in order to get a sense for how many data points I'm
working with to graph various portions of the surfaces. The trouble is, I

Hello,
I am trying to plot selected data points to a preexisting persp plot
that satisfies a condition. I used the following statement -
text(coords[,1], coords[,2], names(act[which(act > 8.75)]), cex=0.7)
But I get all the points labeled, instead of the points that satisfy
the condition specified. Is there any way to plot only the points I
want? Also can this be done using

I have successfully fitted the model

persp(), par() and axis()
Dear R experts,
On explanation of persp() parameters the last item is:
...: additional graphical parameters (see `par').
However, setting the `tcl' parameter has no any effect.
I guess that axes are added to persp() in somewhat freakish
way, and have nothing in common with axis() function.
I found the very useful trans3d() function in persp() help
page, and I'd like to use it

distance to eye in persp()
Hi
the manpage for persp() has a wonderful section where a the trans3d
() function
is used with points() and lines() to add red dots and a green sinusoid
to the Mexican hat surface.
Does anyone have a way to tell what distance a point is from the eye/
camera?
Take the following line:

persp and lines()
R-sters:
I'm interested in keeping data plotted in persp to preserve the wireframe
look, I'd just like to change one of the lines drawn (in either the x or y
direction) into a different color so that it stands out.
Or is there some way to add a line (say, via lines(), or abline()) to a
persp() plot at the designated x or y that would follow the z surface
contour? I could add a line

contour lines on persp plot
Hello folks,
I am a beginner R user. I have been able to make a 3D surface plot using
'persp'. The surface is made by a grid of lines emanating perpendicularly
from each of the x and y axes at regular intervals.
I can get rid of that grid by setting 'border=NA'.
Can anyone suggest some ways to replace the grid with contour lines, to
create a 3-dimensional contour map?

drawing lines in 3D (rotating them)
Hi the list,
I write a short function to draw lines in 3D, showing then turning.
At some point, I add "delais" to slow down the rotation.
So two questions:
1) I try to find a library to draw animate lines in 3D but I did not
find. That surprise me since it is very simple to do. Did I forget to
look somewhere ?

Adding 3D points
I would like to add individual points and lines to a persp()
plot that I generated with the geoR package. It is a kriged
surface map of a field plot and I'd like to overlay my
sampling points on it but am having some trouble. I loaded
the scatterplot3d package, but I can't seem to use the add
parameter with it. Any suggestions?

Contour lines in a persp plot
Hello folks,
i'm a R beginner and i want to put in a same plot both contour lines
and persp plot.
For example,
fn<-function(x,y){sin(x)+2*y} #this looks like a corrugated tin roof
x<-seq(from=1,to=100,by=1) #generates a list of x values to sample
y<-seq(from=1,to=100,by=1) #generates a list of y values to sample
