an info on 3d representation
Dear list,
sorry to waste your time. I downloaded R and I like it very much.
However, my main interest is in plotting 3D graphics form imported data
(points and lines in a 3d space). I imported data in a very elegant way
but I wasn't able to find in R something similar to the simple "splot"
function of WGNUplot (I don't need persp, image, contour: my values are

how to draw the legend about color from 3d picture
I have drawed a picture with persp, it's 3d map with different color,
indicate different altitude. In gnuplot, the corresponding command
'splot' will generate a picture beside to indicate the relationship
between color and altitude. But in R, how to draw it? I have read the
manual of legend, but they are all about how to draw a legend with
colored text, not a continuous varing color

Variable scope R 2.6.1
I have the following procedure which worked just fine for in R 2.2.0.
Recently I upgraded to 2.6.1 and now get an error:
> ScatterOutlier(pass_500_506[1:1000,6:12], marginal_500_506[,6:12])
Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : object "out" not found
Note that I use the same workspace (and hence data) as in 2.2.0.
When I make sure that the object "out" exists at

one way to solve bad looking density plots in postscript
Hi,
When R generates density plots and these are exported to postscript(
a=matrix(1:100,10,10);image(a,col=rainbow(100);dev.copy2eps(file="image.eps")
)
The result often looks bad when rendered on screen. The help page states that this is because programs use anti-aliasing. That seems to be true - turning off anti-aliasing for gs (-dGraphicsAlphaBits=1) of in OSX's preview makes

anomalias estandarizadas (precipitacion, temperatura, etc) y que me permita

use aov or lme for split plot design?
Dear all
I'm not sure if I did the right analysis for my specific split splot
design. We are
studying biomass increase with different CO2 concentrations with four
different
functional plant groups (e.g. grasses, herbs, broad-leafed trees and
conifers). Of each
functional plant group we have four species. The design is orthogonal.
The design is:

Need help: R for repetitive tasks
Dear R users,
First of all I would like to thank all of you who replayed to my previous
questions and problems. Thank you a lot for being great and helpful
community. I highly appreciate your suggestions and ideas even if I do not
respond after my question! But it means that your help was exactly what I
needed. Thank you again!
Now the following question I need help:
Suppose I do have a

"Too many raster images" in devPS.c
Hi,
I am finding the recently added [1] functionality of embedding raster
images into plots on R devices very useful! Thanks to Paul Murrell and
others for providing that. I noted that in
https://svn.r-project.org/R/trunk/src/library/grDevices/src/devPS.c
a macro is defined: #define MAX_RASTERS 64, and consequently, I get

trouble installing building packages from source using R 2.6.0 on Ubuntu Gutsy AMD64
I have recently upgraded to Ubuntu Gutsy and, for the first time, am
using a 64-bit installation. After failing miserably to install R from
source, not a problem for me in the past with a 32-bit install, I went
the route of using the Debian Etch build. This went smoothly, but I am
unable to update my numerous R and BioConductor packages, getting
non-zero exit status errors on each package. Is

rsync is great
I'm not on the list but I just wanted to throw my positive feedback out
there. I've been using rsync to backup work that I generate within a
lab to an offsite system. If I lost this data ...
So great.
In standard community fashion, though, I want to throw an idea out
there. It would be nice if there were an option like:
--delete-if-too-old
Currently I run a cron job which copies
