trellis.graphic in for-loop
Hi list,
I am unsuccessfully trying to produce a serious of trellis barcharts from
within a for-loop. The barcharts work outside the loop. What am I missing?
Example attached.
Thanks Herry

Understanding padding in lattice
Dear R-users,
I am trying to understand what the different padding arguments in
trellis.par.set are exactly controlling the space around lattice plots.
I have used the following code as a basis for testing but it did not
really help me to visualize how the value of each argument changes the
margins and the plotting area. I guess a better way to visualize the
effects of these padding items

lattice: defining graphical parameters
Dears,
could anyone give me some advice how to change some plotting parameters for a lattice graph?
I need to adjust the following:
-reduce outer margins (like par(mar=c(0,0,0,0)) with base graphs)
-modify positions of labels (like par(mpg=c(0,0,0)) with base graphs)
I already did some research, but got confused by the huge amount of settings with the lattice objects.
I know that the road

Controlling graphics parameters in lattice
I'm just starting to work with lattice graphics, and am
having difficulty understanding how to control various graphic
parameters (font sizes, etc.). [I'm actually using xyplot
via plot.effect() in the car package, and would like to be
able to set some global defaults.]
I read ?xyplot and ?trellis.par.set-- which contains no complete
list of parameters, just a reference to

Customised legend in lattice
Hi List,
Am trying to customize a legend in trellis: Draws 2x5 lines in 5 colors and
2 linetypes. I would like to add two more items to the legend showing the
key for the line types above the colored legend.
Any suggestions welcome - thanks Herry

Problem with viewports, print.trellis and more/newpage
Dear R-users,
I have got the following problem. I need to create 4x2 arrays of
xyplot's on several pages. The plots are created within a loop and
plotted using the print function. It seems that I cannot find the proper
grid syntax with my viewports, and the more/newpage arguments.
The following script is a simplification but hopefully will suffice to
illustrate my problem. Any suggestion

Location of grobs etc on lattice output
Is there any way, after use of print.trellis(), to obtain the
co-ordinates of the plot region, e.g., in what are then the
native co-ordinates?
e.g.
library(DAAG)
library(lattice); library(grid)
data(cuckoos)
pushViewport(viewport(layout=grid.layout(2, 1)))
pushViewport(viewport(layout.pos.row=1))
cuckoos.strip <- stripplot(species ~ length, data=cuckoos)
print(cuckoos.strip,

lattice question: how to change the dot on boxplot to line
Hi,
How does one change the dot for the median in a boxplot drawn using
lattice? I have been looking at

Lattice device page options-margins
I am using lattice to make figures as pdfs:
trellis.device(device = "pdf",file = "Figure6.pdf",color = FALSE)
I need to specify some blank space on the left-hand margins (the pages
will be bound so we need about 0.5 inch)). I have tried a number of
solutions but none seems to work (e.g. par.set). Can this be done when
initiating the plotting device? Or is the some other way

Lattice: distance of Y-axis label from plot
Basic question: I looked around quite a bit, still having a little trouble
manipulating the distance between the Y-axis label and the plot. In this
case, I would like to move the Y axis title closer to the plot.

[R-sig-Geo] plot() and Jpeg() increase font size and resolution
Thanks to Edzer and Roger,
I can now plot with increased font sizes. However, jpeg still does not
reproduce these, nor does it show up in high quality. What I would like
to do is produce some highresolution jpegs.
Any help would be appreciated

Lattice, ggplot, and pointsize
Hi!
When inserting R plots into a document using odfWeave, I fought for a
while to get Lattice plots use the same text size as base plots. I
eventually discovered that specifying a point size via e.g.
svg(pointsize=10) has no effect on Lattice plots. One needs to adjust
the size manually via:
trellis.par.set(fontsize=list(text=10, points=8))
This is also developed for both Lattice and ggplot2 by

changing settings on a barchart (lattice)
Hello!
I apologize - I never used lattice before, so my question is probably
very basic - but I just can't find the answer in the archive nor in
the documentation:
I have a named numeric vector p of 6 numbers (of the type 6 numbers
with people's names to whom those numbers belong). I want a simple bar
chart.
I am doing:
library(lattice)
trellis.par.set(fontsize=list(text=12)) #

trellis margin sizes in absolute units
Dear R users,
I have a lot of experience with traditional R graphics, but I decided to turn to trellis as
it was recommended for spatial graphs by the sp package. In traditional R graphics
I always first set the size of the device region absolute units (e.g. mm) and then I
firmly fix the inner margins with mai and the outer margins with oma also in absolute units.
What is left from the device

How to set the parameters in Trellis Graphics (by Lattice package)
Dear R users
I plot the trellis graphics by using the lattice package. Everything is
OK. Now, I want set
some parameters of the trellis graphics.
1. The tick label site. By default, only two tick labels had been output in
x-axis of my plot.
I want output four or five tick labels. In the traditional graphics system,
it will be very easy.
Just not output the axis in plot by use the parameter

on trellis.par.set/get (reproducing figures from Pinheiro & Bates)
Dear R users,
I would like to exactly reproduce a figure like the 1.5 or 1.9 or 4.13

Mixed effects models in S and S-Plus.
Not for the sake of it, but because I have my own data I would like to
plot in that fashion
(no colors)
If I write
plot(ergoStool)
I can get a good informative plot with colors, but I would like to have
a B&W one instead.
