problem building an R package under Windows XP with calls to NAG C routines
Hello all,
I was able to create R packages under windows XP in the past using the
dynamic NAG C library for windows XP (Mark 6).
Recently, I changed computers and I am now using the static NAG C library
for windows XP (Mark 7) to create a simple R package (called "test") which
simply returns random numbers simulated using repetitive calls to a NAG C
routine (uniform random

Summary: recursion over list
Dear all,
Some days ago, I asked to the list a way to recursively handle lists
objects, so that on can apply a function only on terminal nodes.
Thank you for all the answers.
You will find here a little summary of answers with comments:
- lapply allows the user to apply a function on all the items of a list,
supposing this is a list with a unique depth (like:

I have been working on building a new version of the Wavethresh package for

Making a Package
Hello.
I have what I know to be a simple question, but never having done anything like this it is
pretty tough.
I'm trying to write an R package. I have a collection of functions that I loaded into R and
then used package.skeleton(). After editing everything in the resulting folder, call it
NewPackage, I tried to follow along with some instructions I found for Windows users.

User package - Simple Ports
R experts,
I created a package X for R 1.8 that I want to re-install for 2.0.1. In
addition to downloading/installing Perl and Rtools as directed in the
README.packages file and ensuring that they appear in my path, I have
modified X's DESCRIPTION file to include all required fields.
Additionally I have deleted the "built" line since the make process
will add that. The source

writing a simple package in R 2.0 under Windows XP
Dear listers,
I have developped a set of functions that I would like to package on a
Windows XP plateform for some friends (this would be more simple than to
deliver them as a source text file without handy help). I am working under
Windows XP.
Of course I have gone through the manual "Writing R extension" and try to
sort out what a most simple "packaging" for beginner

Firefox keyword searches for R & S-Plus
If you've 'rediscovered the web' with Firefox (http://getfirefox.com), you
might find this tip handy. Suppose you want to search the (local) R
documentation for information about the lme function. Wouldn't it be nice
to just type into the browser address bar:
r lme
and have the search performed? Here's how (on Windows):

A question in R
I started to learn the R language, but I didn't suceed to use an external file.
Let say that I have an excel file called "test1.xls" in the directory
"C:/program files/R/rw2000/external_files" that looks like that:
name mark
yair 80
yosi 70 ...
In the appropriate directory I wrote this:
x<-read.delim("test1.xls")

Building a package under WIN2000 / rw2.0

But runs into some linker errors like e.g.

My enviornment looks like this:

R installed from the rw2001.exe setup file.
I guess that the R under rw2001.exe was build with
some other compiler?

I want to make a compiled version for windows.
(I work with windows 2000 and R 2.0)

Version names
I have Windows XP build scripts that look for R in a variety
of folders and if multiple ones are found, takes the last
one. For example, I currently have the following
in \Program Files\R :
rw1060
rw1062
rw1071
rw1071beta
rw1081
rw1090
rw1090dev
rw1091
rw1091pat
rw2000
rw2001beta
Note that it currently correctly gets rw2001beta but if I
add rw2001 then it will not pick it up since

library in R2.0.0

I upgraded to 2.0.0 version and did everything as I used to do

I installed windows binary, copy/paste other than bundled
packages.
I got e.g.

own personal functions (they are not on CRAN). So I went
