Lazy loading... advices
Hello,
I am looking for more information about lazy loading introduced in R 2.0.0.
Doing
?lazyLoad
I got some and there is a 'see also' section that points to
'makeLazyLoading'... But I cannot reach this page.
My problem is: I recompiled a library that uses a lot of functions from
other libraries (of course I can give details if needed). I load it in my
computer: library(svGUI),

Question about .Rd syntax
Hello all,
In one of my packages, I have the following warning with R-devel, but no
problems with R 2.1.0, or R patched:

Functions with \usage entries need to have the appropriate \alias entries,
and all their arguments documented.

where can I download package svIO?
Hello,
today I upgraded R to 2.10 and Tinn-R to 2.3.3.1.
Tinn-R needs the package svIO, but it is not available anymore on the
package lists.
Every session I start R and chose the CRAN-Mirror I receive the following
warning:
Bitte einen CRAN Spiegel f?r diese Sitzung ausw?hlen ---
Warnmeldung:

package ?svIO? is not available

How to detect if R is running on Mac OS X?
This question is probably trivial, but I don't find the answer. I have
code that is different for Windows, Unix/Linux and Mac OSX. The man page
of .Platform tells that .Platform$OS.type is the right way to test for
it... but it also tels that it returns either "windows" or "unix". Is
Mac OS X reported as "unix"? If yes, how do I make the difference?
Thanks,

R GUI considerations (was: R, Wine, and multi-threadedness)
Hello,
Following a discussion initiated on r-devel, that mentions SciViews-R
and other GUIs issues for R, I would like to make comments (and would be
happy if these comments would initiate interesting initiatives).
A big, big problem with SciViews-R is that a part of it is written in
Visual Basic 6, a M$$$$ language, not supported any more, buggy, non
transposable to other platforms, etc,

commercial software selling a R module - question about GPL license rights
Hello all,
Sorry for this email not directly related to R developement. I just come
from a nice demonstration session from Scitegic about their Pipeline
Pilot (PP) software, and especially their 'R collection' which brings R
calculations into the software
(http://www.scitegic.com/documents/RStats_Collection.pdf).
I looked carefully on the way they do it: they pass data from PP to R

R GUI For Which User?
I also agree with Philippe Grosjean that there is a need to investigate the
effects of different types of GUIs on software "usability". To do that,
however, there is a need to develop a set of appropriate metrics, and to
understand that the appropriateness of a given metric (and ultimately a given
type of GUI) is likely to be conditional on the type of user.
My sense is that the

SciViews GUI
HI:
After following all the instructions on how to install the SciViews package from CRAN I still can't make the GUI show. Can someone give me a hint on how to do this? I have tried library(svGUI), library(svDialogs) and so on with the rest of the packages. I have also placed all the 'sv' packages in my Rprofile but nothing works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Cross-platforms solution to export R graphs
Hello Rusers,
I have worked on a R Wiki page for solutions in exporting R graphs,
especially, the often-asked questions:
- How can I export R graphs in vectorized format (EMF) for inclusion in
MS Word or OpenOffice outside of Windows?
- What is the best solution(s) for post-editing/annotating R graphs.
The page is at:
http://wiki.r-project.org/rwiki/doku.php?id=tips:graphics-misc:export.

Power (^) 10x slower in R since version 1.7.1... What next?
OK, I have made a little search about this "problem" that apparently occurs
only on Windows platform... (but I am sure most of you are already aware of
it): the slow down is due to the adoption of a different algorithm for pow
in mingw 3.x. This is motivated by some other changes in mingw. Here is a
quote of Danny Smith that did this change:

R is a virus, spyware or malware (gasp!)
After a search session in Google, I found this page:
http://www.prevx.com/filenames/X1993788672854780728-0/RGUI.EXE.html
which classifies Rgui.exe (clearly stated as "R for Windows GUI
front-end") in a database of virus, spyware and malware!

sciviews installation
Hello
1. a few months ago, I had sciviews working fine with R (rw2001) under
windows XP
2. now, upgrading to rw2011, the stuff seems fine (every package
installed),but I find a conflict when launching sciviews:
- it runs, apparently
- but when I try to work ("import/export In: text" for instance), it
asks for Rcmdr ("Would you like to install it now?")
3. Rcmdr is already

Feedback about SciViews?
Hello,
This message is little off-topic in R-help. Sorry for that, but not all
interested people are wired yet to r-sig-gui

comprehension.
A preview version of SciViews (a Graphical User Interface for R under
Windows, http://www.sciviews.org) was released a few weeks ago. Since then,
