Serial Console Not Connecting to Dom0 on Ubuntu Server 12 Running Xen 4.1.3
Xen-users,
I have what I think is a bug in the serial console interaction of Xen and Ubuntu. Essentially, the serial console appears to work just fine until it is passed off to dom 0 from Xen. Then it stops communicating with dom0, but still communicates with Xen, if I use the control-A escape sequence. Google will not show me anything related to this.
I have local RS-232 serial console working

Taking the derivative of a quadratic B-spline
Hello,
I have been trying to take the derivative of a quadratic B-spline
obtained by using the COBS library. What I would like to do is
similar to what one can do by using
fit<-smooth.spline(cdf)
xx<-seq(-10,10,.1)
predict(fit, xx, deriv = 1)
The goal is to fit the spline to data that is approximating a
cumulative distribution function (e.g. in my example, cdf is a
2-column matrix with x

Polycom dhcp boot
Hi all
I have a few Polycom 331's but after following allot of advice I can't
get them to provision from a dhcp boot server. We have a sonicwall
router in place.
I can press setup and set the FTP boot server to my * box. From there
th phones boot fine. But I cannot get them to autoprovision.
I have tried dhcp option 66=ipaddres. 66=FTP://PlcmSpIp:PlcmSpIp at 192.168.1.1/

how to guarantee 1/numflows bandwidth to each flow dynamically
I am looking for a simple way to guarantee to each flow
going through my traffic control point 1/numflows of
bandwidth. I thought using SFQ would do this effectively
but it appears to be quite unfair: a very high speed
download that fills the pipe easily starves smaller flows to
the point where it becomes unusable (especially if they are
at all interactive)
Because numflows is dynamic,

Still more questions WRT selecting a mobo for small ZFS RAID
Like many others, I am looking to put together a SOHO NAS based on ZFS/CIFS. The plan is 6 x 1TB drives in RAIDZ2 configuration, driven via mobo with 6 SATA ports.
I''ve read most, if not all, of the threads here, as well as sbredon''s excellent article on building a home NAS, yet I still have a number of unanswered questions.
I was leaning heavily towards the M2N-E for a while,

Question: PV ops Fedora 16 Initialises Hypercall Page Twice?
Xen Developers,
I noticed that my PV ops guests cause the hypervisor to invoke hypercall_page_initialise twice from traps.c (i.e. through wrmsr_hypervisor_regs), for different hypercall_page addresses. Looking at the code, I see hvmloader.c causing one of those, in its main. I read the HVM Loader Xen wiki page, Googled, spelunked the source, etc. but cannot find where / why the other hypercall

NVDIMM sizes and DIMM hot plug
Hi,
I've found out that NVDIMM size and label size matter for regular
(non-NV) DIMM hot plug. If the NVDIMM is not aligned correctly, the
guest OS will not accept the hot plugged memory and will complain with
messages such as
Block size [0x8000000] unaligned hotplug range: start 0x225000000, size 0x10000000
The start address above is also reported within <memory> element of the

Intel SE7210TP1-E giving memory errors
Hi List,
I've been getting the following EDAC memory errors
EDAC MC0: CE page 0xeb0dd, offset 0x0, grain 4096, syndrome 0x45, row 3,
channel 0, label "": i82875p CE
and from this seeing that these errors have been corrected.
Checking cat /sys/devices/system/edac/mc/mc0/csrow3/ch0_ce_count gives
me a count of 4
thus I now know that csrow3 - ch0 is the problem
My question is, how

PS: Apologies for cross posting if you are on the Poweredge list.

Error installing VM: "Process exited while reading console log output"
Hi,
I'm trying to install a qemu-kvm virtual machine on a Debian GNU/Linux
squeeze amd64 host, using virtinst 0.500.3 and libvirt 0.8.3.
First I tried this command as a normal user (in groups kvm and libvirt):
$ virt-install --connect qemu:///system --name test1 \

Multiple comparisons when interacction
In the model:
lm.1 <- lm(variable ~ BLOC + TIL * YEAR , data=selvanera)
I found TIL*YEAR interaction significant. Then I am trying to compare
means of the different levels of TIL inside every YEAR using:
mc.2 <- glht(lm.1, linfct = mcp(TIL*YEAR="Tukey"))
summary(mc.2, test = univariate())
but it does not work.
There is any way of doing this, like the SLICE option in

unsafe_symlink change (Re: CVS update: rsync)
The patch from 2-1/2 years ago for changing copy-unsafe-links to follow
unsafe links on the destination side also included essentially this patch.
When I looked at it, however, I asked why in the world is unsafe_symlink()
doing strdup() in the first place. I think you could get rid of the
calls to strdup() and the new local variables and possibly do a couple
casts inside the function instead.

Test the result of a hiera_hash() lookup
Hi folks,
Is there a way to test the result of a hiera_hash() lookup in a manifest? I
am trying to use hiera to do most of my configuration, like this for
example:
mysql::grants:
''user1@localhost'':
privileges:
- select_priv
''user2@localhost'':
privileges:
- select_priv
- insert_priv
- lock_tables_priv
I have a wrapper
