RGL 3D curvilinear shapes
Dear useRs,
I'm trying to simply fill in the area under a curve using RGL. Here' the set

rgl.postscript
Hi,
I am having an issue when creating a postscript file from RGL window. It
seems to cut off some of the axis labels. Here is the code I am using.
I created a 3D plot using RGL_0.71 with R 2.5 on Windows XP.
z1<-c(5,4,1,4.5,2,3,2,1,1)
z2<-c(6,8,7,7.5,5,3.5,4,1,1)
z3<-c(3,2,4,7,3,4.5,6,2,3)
x1<-seq(1,9)
x2<-seq(1,9)
x3<-seq(10,18)
y1<-seq(8,0)
y2<--1*y1

axes3d/bbox3d - axis values not fixed
Hello,
I'm using the rgl package and plotting a plot with it. I'd like to have all
the axes values auto-hide, but I want to plot a series of characters instead
of the values of the measurement for 2 of the axes. So in the end I will
have one axis (z actually) behave per normal (auto-hide) and I'd like the
other two axes to be custom character vectors that auto-hide.
Example:
x <-

rgl.postscript() failure when saving a scene
Dear all,
I write to the community to know if other people
expierenced the same problem. I want to save a rgl
scene where I plotted a 3d cloud of spheres whose
radius is set proportional to a given variable and
coloured by another group variable and with 95%
ellipsoids for distribution of any group.
I had no problem at all for coding but I had two

Correct scaling of axis in persp3d plot
Hi,
I want to format my axis in my persp3d plot.
With my data, which I attached I created a persp3d plot with the following code, which I summarized from different code snippets I found:
library(rugarch)library(rgl)library(fGarch)fd <-as.data.frame(modelfit,which ='density')color <-rgb(85,141,85,maxColorValue=255)x <-seq(-0.2,0.2,length=100)y <-c(1:2318)f

3d plotting from a 2d array
Hi,
I'm new to R and am learning the ropes of r-help and programming.
I'm attempting to plot a 2-D mesh in 3-D using the persp function. I've
positioned the graph using phi and theta, but I'm having trouble overlaying
color onto the actual surface according to the surface's "z" values. I've
tried the "col" feature but it doesn't put a flowing

scatterplot3d with categorical data
Dear users,
I'm trying to produce a 3d bar plot but the x and y dimensions have categorical
data -- so I only want 3 points on each axis. So I try:
require(scatterplot3d)
mymat<-data.frame(
x=c(1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3),
y=c(1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3),
z=c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9))
scatterplot3d(mymat,
type="h", lwd=5, pch=" ",
xlab="xlabel",

Adding Text to a persp plot using specific coordinates
Hi folks,
I'm experiencing some hassle to add some text on a persp plot...
Here is the code to generate the persp plot:
x <- seq(-1.95, 1.95, length = 30)
y <- seq(-1.95, 1.95, length = 30)
z <- outer(x, y, function(a,b) a*b^2)
persp(x, y, z,xlim=c(-2,2),ylim=c(-2,2),zlim=c(-8,8), phi=30, theta=-30,nticks=8,ticktype="detailed")
I've tried the text() function :

readLines with space-delimiter?
Hi,
I am reading a large space-delimited text file into R (41 columns and many
rows) and need to do run each row's values through another R object and then
write to another text file. So, far using readLines and writeLines seems to
be the best bet. I've gotten the data exchange working except each row is
read in as one 'chunk', meaning the row has all values between two quotes

plot3d origin
Hi all,
I am trying to do a 3d plot where the x,y,z axes intersects with the origin
(0,0,0) using the plot3d() funtion in the rgl package without success. I
looked back at the past archives on this subject and someone suggested using
djmrgl package. I searched and found it, installed it but when I try to load
it I get the error ...

number of ticks in a persp() plot
Hi, I am trying to specify four ticks (at 0,1,2,3 for the y axis) in a persp
plot but the defaults overrule my specification and I obtain seven of them.
Is it possible to gain full control over them in such a plot? Here is my
code:
matlines=matrix(c(1:7,3:9,3:9,2:8),nrow=7,ncol=4)

3d barplot in rgl
Is there anyway to plot a matrix using a 3d bar plot. Something like
bar3 in matlab?
The example in demo hist3d does a 3d barplot for binned data, but has
anyone tried something for a simple matrix with spaces betwen bars
and axis labels using matrix dimnames or 1,2,3?
stages<-letters[1:3]
A<-matrix(c(
0.21, 0.21,0.03,
0.55, 0.58, 0.09,

How can I place axis annotations away from axis?
Hello Experts
I have the following codes and data for 2 interpolation plots.

3D Graphics
Dear All,
I have made a scatter plot and placed a plane within it using scatterplot3d.
However, I have been asked for the data points to be a surface plot or have
the plane more closely resemble the data rather than show trends.
I have since tried to use the rgl package. Why doesn't this package use the
window which already contains graphics?
I have one axis with decreasing values and two

rgl: axis/viewport/box problems in persp3d()
Dear expeRts,
I am a new user of rgl, below is my first trial to plot a simple function in 3d.
I managed to put the axes in the right locations, but:
(1) The xlab, ylab, and zlab arguments are ignored; how can I put in axes labels?
(2) Since I removed the axes in persp3d() the viewport is too small; is it possible
to keep the size of the viewport?
(3) The box is not correctly drawn, there

Dirichlet surface
Dear list members,
I want to draw surfaces of Dirichlet distributions with different
parameter settings.
My code is the following:
#<begin code>
a1 <- a2 <- a3 <- 2
#a2 <- .5
#a3 <- .5
x1 <- x2 <- seq(0.01, .99, by=.01)
f <- function(x1, x2){
term1 <- gamma(a1+a2+a3)/(gamma(a1)*gamma(a2)*gamma(a3))
term2 <- x1^(a1-1)*x2^(a2-1)*(1-x1-x2)^(a3-1)

overlaying points and lines on a surface3d rgl plot with axes
Hi R users and experts,
I am interested in learning more about the use of 3D plots. Specifically, I
want to add points and lines to a surface plot. And get the axes and labels
plotted also. Here is what I have tried with an example data set :
library(rgl)
vol2 <- 2*volcano # Exaggerate the relief
library(reshape)
mvol2 <- melt(vol2)
str(mvol2)
# First, persp and persp3d plots do not succeed

rgl.postscript generating pdf: floating xlab, font size, transparency
Hello,
I very much enjoy rgl! But when converting the screen output to pdf
using rgl.postscript I have encountered three problems:
(1) I don't seem to have control over font sizes and point sizes (of
added points) in the pdf output. I tried cex from "plot" but that
does not have an effect. Initially I got some plots where fonts and
especially points were far too small. But now

greek letters in rgl plot3d
Dear RGL experts,
I haven't been able to add greek letters to my rgl plot3d.
I have tried "expression" with no success.
Here is the interested bit:
> library(rgl)
> cb <- cube3d()
> plot3d(cb,xlab=expression(alpha),ylab="",zlab="",box=FALSE,alpha=0.5)
The expression(alpha) appears as "alpha", rather than as a greek symbol.
I suspect greek
