Rotating Titles
Hi All,
I am looking for help in rotating species titles produced using the
strat.plot( ) function in the rioja package. This function produces a
stratigraphic plot of paleoenvironmental data. Currently the titles of each
species are plotted vertically while they are typically plotted at a 45
degree angle in other programs. Does anyone have any idea of how to rotates
these titles?

Rioja package, creating transfer function, WA, "Error in FUN"
Hi, I am a new R user and am trying to construct a palaeoenvironmental
transfer function (weighted averaging method) using the package rioja.
I've managed to insert the two matrices (the species abundance and the
environmental data) and have assigned them to the y and x values
respectively. When I try and enter the 'WA' function though, I get an 'Error
in FUN' message (see

text/mtext axis labels on graphs
Hello everyone
I have problem with axis labels on graphs, I have my code as below:
plot(0,0,xlim=c(1,ncol(PA)),ylim=c(1,nrow(PA)),main="Stratigraphic
Range",xlab="Time
Bins",ylab="Taxa",cex.axis=1.5,cex.lab=2,cex.main=2.5,mgp=c(5,1.5,0),xaxt="n")
text(1:(length(strat_name)), y= 0, adj=1,
srt=45,labels=strat_name,xpd=TRUE, cex=1) #adds text to x

mtext adj= wrong with several las= (PR#7188)
Dear all,
Our quite basic function mtext() does wrong adjustments in some parameter
configurations. This gets obvious when using multi line texts: There is no
way to properly adjust text perpendicular to axis 2, for example.

Change labels of x-axes in Plot of stl() function?
Hi all,
How can the label of the x-axes in the plot() of a stl.object be adapted?
e.g.,
When plotting: plot(stl(nottem, "per"))
In the labels of the x-axes is “time”. How can this be changed to e.g.,
“Time (dekade) “?
It does not work with xlab or others anymore…
Thanks,
Jan

Plotting two y-axis vs non-numeric x-axis
Hi dear all, the following code is correct. but I want to use non-numeric
x-axis, for example
if I replace time <- seq(0,72,6) by
month <-
c("Jan","Feb","Mar","Apr","May","Jun","Jul","Aug","Sep","Oct","Nov","Dec","Pag")
Ofcourse I use factor(month) instead of

How can I fit the secondary y axis legend on my graph?
Dear All,
Having a bit of trouble with plotting two y variables on the same
graph. I cannot manage to get the secondary y axis label on to the right
of the axis - it gets plotted beyond the graphic window I assume?! The
way I constructed the graph is thus:
plot(data[,3],data[,2],axes=F, type="b") ## plots my data from two
data colums without axes - fine
axis(1, at=data[,3])

plot error -- figure margins too large
Hi,
I am trying to plot my dataset, consisting of one column with numeric values and one column with group IDs.
The set is similar to the following df.
df <- NULL
for ( i in 1:20)
{
tmp1 <- runif(1000,0,5)
tmp2 <- cbind(tmp1,i)
df <- rbind(df,tmp2)
}
Now I would like to plot the numeric column, stratified by the group IDs, in a single figure.
First, I partitioned the frame

Plot frame border to start at zero?
Hello,
I am creating plots of hourly precipitation and accumulated
precipitation (on different axis, see attached image). I was wondering
how can I have the plot frame (black border) start at zero, it looks
like it is plotted less than zero?
The code I use to create the png files is below:

plotting 2 Y-axes, aligning the 0 value
Hi,
Being a novice to R, I would like to create a graph in R with 2 axes.
One of the 2 only has positive values, the other one also has negative
values. The part I'm struggling with is how to align the 2.
Rather than starting to plot the data from the x axis, I would like to
start plotting the positive values on the right axis only as of the 0
value on the left axis.

labels in (box)plot
Dear users,
I would like all the ticks on a boxplot (x and y) to be labeled
I have checked all the par() arguments but couldn't find what I'm
looking for
Here is an example to show it:
df <- structure(list(SPECSHOR = structure(c(1L, 1L, 1L, 3L, 3L, 3L, 3L,
3L, 4L, 4L), .Label = c("cotau", "dibic", "eqgre", "gicam"), class =

Graphics - plotting two graphs
Hi,
I wanted to plot 2 lines on a single graph. Each graph has one axis that can be common. The code that I'm using is:
-------------------------------------------------------
par(mfrow=c(1, 1))
x1 <- c(2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12)
x2 <- c(10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60)
y1 <- c(10,12,15,22,34,21)
y2 <- c(40, 130, 150, 145, 40, 30)
par(las=1, mar=c(4, 4, 2, 4))

Different y-axes
Hi All,
I have checked everything I could find abot graphics, but still cannot
solve the problem.
Are there any ways to make a graph that plots two lines and two
different y-axes, each of them has a scale that is related to the
respective line. For example, y1 has a range 1:50 and y1 ranges 0:1. The
x-axe is the same for both.
Thank you in advance.

losing x-label when exporting to PNG
I have a simple barplot that looks fine in the R
graphics device window. However when I export it to
png I am losing the x-label. It must be an obvious
problem but I cannot see it. Trying to resize the plot
does not seem to help. Code is below.
Any help gratefully received.

r: plots
hi all
i have another probably simple question.
I have three variables say x, y and z. x and y are quite large and z is
relative small.
how can one plot the three variables on the same graph with two separate
axis?
(one for x and y and the other for z)
e.g.
x<-c(101,110,150,167,120)
y<-c(120,135,175,95,200)
z<-c(0.001, 0.15, 0.6, 0.8, 1)

would like to move the xlab and the ylab closer to the axes. Do I

Labelling a second y-axis
Hi,
I am using the following code as an example function to create
multiple y-axes on one plot. I have it working fine however, I can't
seem to add a label on the second (right) axis. I have tried adding
ylab="y2" in the axis call but, that didn't work; any ideas?
Thanks,
Jesse
Code:
function() {
par(las=1,xaxs="r",mai=c(1,0.75,1,1))
x<-1:10
