Netcdf and Raster Package Questions, Need .asc File for GIS
Hello R-Group, I am new working with netcdf files and the raster package in R.I am trying to read in a netcdf file using the package "ncdf".I am able to get the lat, lon and parameter I need and can plot using fill.contour.Ultimately, I am trying to create a .asc file to reafd into GIS.I am using the package "raster" to read the parameter. When I read in with

filled contour plot with contour lines
I'm stumped, can anyone find my error in this sequence. for(j in 1:(varsize[4]-1)) temp <- get.var.ncdf(nc=input, varid="p_foraging",c(1,1,j),c(varsize[1],varsize[2],1)) filled.contour(x, y, temp, color = terrain.colors, plot.title = title(main = paste("Everglades Wood Stork Foraging Potential \nYear", (2000+j)), xlab =

Labelling contour lines
I am using contour to draw contour lines onto a photo (jpeg) of a leaf on a white background. I have two problems: 1) The contour gets plotted at right angles to the jpeg image. I guess this is a problem of referencing the start and end points of the image matrix but I can't see how to over come this other than loading in a second image that has been rotated 90 degrees and plotting the

overlaying a contour line in a levelplot
Hello there, I am creating a series of images using levelplot but I also want to overlay a contour for a particular value as reference. Here is the levelplot command for the image: print(levelplot(d~x+y,data=t,cuts=20,scales=list(draw=F),xlab=NULL,ylab= NULL,col.regions=heat.colors(100)[100:1]),split=c(1,1,1,1),more=T) and then to add the contour plot (I only want a contour at level 5):

Rotating margin text
R 2.14.1 OS X Colleagues, I am making a graphic with two y-axes. I create the label for the right-side axis with: mtext(side=4, line=1, "Some text") The label is rotated 90° counterclockwise. I would prefer that it be rotated 90° clockwise. However, srt is not supported for mtext and las does not offer this option. Is there some other means to rotate the text string? Thanks in

How-to-rotate-plot-title
I wonder whether it is possible to rotate the title of the barplot on the top right corner of the attached layout. It would be more readable if the whole string were rotated by 180 degrees (mirrored). Thank you very much. numerical issue in contour.default?
Dear R developers, I found a small issue while plotting contours of data containing both "usual" and "very small" numbers. It appeared with both R 3.0.1 and R-Devel on Windows, and I could reproduce it on Linux. Would it be possible to solve this before the upcoming release? Thanks a lot for developing this great software! Thomas Example: ######## set.seed(357) z1 <-

Possible to "add" filled.contour(...) to existing plot?
By any chance is it possible to "add" filled.contour(...) to an existing plot like you can do using image(..., add = TRUE). I looked at the filed.contour(...) and levelplot(...) documentation, but it didn't seem to be possible. I would like to add filled.plot(...) as shown below instead of using the image(...). Filled.contour seems to provide the smoothing interpolation

how to rotate a triangle image(ZMAT) ?
Hello R users... how to align this Zmat (triangle image) in X axis? I would like that the triangle's base become in the X axis and the triangle's height become in the Y axis Is there some trick for make this? Thanks. Cleber ######################## my test and try f <- function(x,y){ z=1-x-y z[ z < (-1e-15) ] <- NA return( -100*x+0*y+100*z ) } x = seq( 1, 0,

can I rotate a matrix
useR's, I want to be able to rotate a matrix 90 degrees, clockwise. For example, > mat [,1] [,2] [,3] [,1] 1 2 1 [,2] 3 2 6 [,3] 4 5 3 I want to rotate it, so that it looks like this... SUMMARY: making contour plots using (x,y,z) data
Folks, A few days ago, I had asked a question on this mailing list about making a contour plot where a function z(x,y) is evaluated on a grid of (x,y) points, and the data structure at hand is a simple table of (x,y,z) points. As usual, R has wonderful resources (and subtle complexity) in doing this, and the gurus of the list showed me the way. Here's a complete working example. One might

How to rotate an axis?
Hi everybody, I'm trying to build a trilineare coordinate system with R. For that, I need to rotate an axis. Does anybody know, if it is possible to rotate an axis, created with the command axis(), about for instance 60 degrees? I'm looking foward to any ideas and hints and want to wish everybody a merry merry christmas. Thanks in advance. Etienne Stockhausen

Using image/contour with unevenly spaced data...
Is it possible to plot unevenly spaced data with image/contour function? Below is an example of the type uneven data that I'm trying to plot with image/contour functions. For example, I would like to have the x-distance on the x-axis and y-distance on the y-axis and then the temperature values determine the color used. Unfortunately this data was sampled such that it is not evenly

adding contour lines to a filled.contour
Hi all, Does anybody know how to add contour lines to a filled contour plot? I want to draw a single contour around values that are above a certain level (e.g., significant). The problem I'm having is that since the filled.contour command actually draws two plots (data and the key), adding contour lines paints them over both plots. Any suggestions? Thanks, Andy #~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
