Systemfit
OK, Let's try this again! Here is the reproducible script; it is long because I had to copy the panel dataset here. My question is related to systemfit; I don't know how to get the result for the entire panel.

Sadly you failed to set your email program to send plain text and the data is corrupted at my end.
I also think you need to reduce the size of the data set... the intent here is to increase your understanding, not debug your particular analysis.
I will say that I am having a very challenging time understanding what you are trying to accomplish though. What are the equations that you think need

... and the mailing list is picky about attachments... whatever you attached did not conform to the stringent requirements mentioned in the Posting Guide. Pasting the code right into the email is usually safest, though you DO have to post using plain text (as the Posting Guide indicates) or your code may get mangled by the automatic html format removal.

Unless there is good reason not to, always cc the list -- there are lots of
smarter folks than I on it who can help.
I may or may not have time to look at this. Hopefully someone else will.

ask for help on nonlinear fitting
I have a table like the following. I want to fit Cm to Vm like this:
Cm ~ Cl+Q1*b1*38.67*exp(-b1*(Vm-Vp1)*0.03867)/(1+exp(-b1*(Vm-Vp1)*0.03867))^2+Q2*b2*38.67*exp(-b2*(Vm-Vp2)*0.03867)/(1+exp(-b2*(Vm-Vp2)*0.03867))^2
I use nls, with start=list(Q1=2e-3, b1=1, Vp1=-25, Q2=3e-3, b2=1,
Vp2=200). But I always get 'singlular gradient' error like this. But
in SigmaPlot I can get the result. How

(no subject)
Hey everyone, I'm trying version 1.0rc2, via the rpm at ATrpms. I'm running on CentOS
4.3 on an Opteron system. I have this running stably on a 32 bit system, but I'm
crashing constantly on a 64 bit system.
Here's what I'm getting in my mail logs when I try to log in via IMAP:

The survival rate at a certain time
Hello there,
I am doing analysis on survival data. How do I pick out a probability of
survival at a chosen landmark time(for example, 3 years, 4 years) from
the result of "survfit"? or any other functions? As I know, the result
of 'survfit' only have the probabilities for all event or cencor time.
Thank you very much

Tell the difference between characters
Dear all,
I just want to determine if the characters in a character string are the
same or not. For example,
temp <- c("aa", "aA", "ab")
How do I determine the first one have the two same ?a?, and the second and
third have the different characters? Thanks in advance.

Reconstruct a dataset
Dear all,
I have a dataset that looks like this:
inividual var1 var2 ?
1 1 1 ?
2 1 2 ?
3 2 1 ?
4 2 2 ?
? ? ? ?
I will random sample 2 individuals from this dataset based on a set of
random numbers, e.g.,
rn1 <- c(0, 0, 1, 1), rn2 <- c(0, 0, 2, 0), rn3 <- c(1, 0, 0, 1), rn4 <-

Shorewall blocks LISa on port 7741
Hello, all.
I''ve been trying to get shorewall to get LISa working on my Gentoo box. It
works as long as I have shorewall turned off, but whenever I turn it on, it
seems to block all LISa activity. I have TCP port 7741 opened (as per
lisa-home.sourceforge.net), and nmap says it''s open. Ethereal indicates that
LISa is communicating via TCP port 7741, from 127.0.0.1 to

Recurrence plots in R using different colours
Hello,
I am an absolutely beginner with regards to R, so forgive me for my
potentially very stupid questions.
I have been attempting to create recurrence plots using R. The data I am
using is based on a mutually exclusive and exhaustive coding scheme with
over 40 individual codes which can be assigned to 6 higher order categories.
When I carry out the usual rqa command, my plot is pretty much

GEE model
Hello there,
My name is Lisa and I'm doing analysis using genelized linear model-GEE
model because I have some repeated measurements on the same patients (in
a bilateral eye disease case). It would be very appreciated if you could
shed some light on what function to use in R.
Thank you very much

Characters and Numeric Values in One Matrix
Dear R-Users,
I want to ask a question for a colleague of mine. He wants to put a
character vector and a numeric vector into one matrix and still have the old
character and numeric type for the respective columns.
Unfortunately, I am just starting using R and I could not help him.
Is there an easy and straightforward way to do this in R?
Maybe a little example facilitates understanding our

Arguments of a function
Dear all,
I have a question about how to set arguments in my own function. For
example, I have a function that looks like this:
my.f <- function(a = x1, b = x2)
{
x1 = equation 1
x2 = equation 2
x3 = equation 3
y = a + b
}
x1, x2, and x3 are temporary variables (intermediate results) calculated
from other variables within the funciton. I want to use two of these three

OpenLinux 2.2: LISA install leaves root access without password

I believe I''ve found a bug in the installation process of OpenLinux 2.2
