cant login with my samba password only with my linux password
Hello, I have a strange problem with my samba server. When I try to connect with my (Windows)client and samba ask for the password, it's only accepting my linux-user password, not my samba-user password (set with smbpasswd and as root with smbpasswd <user>). And now the strange about it. When i change my sambapassword with smbpasswd, and try to login from my client, then the samba-user

Samba, and NFS. lag?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Afternoon! I have a samba server, which shares out an NFS mounted share. It seems that everything works rather well, except that i get some lag when modifying a file. If i share a directory which is local to the samba server, no lag, everything works perfectly. However, when i share an NFS mounted volume, i get about 30 seconds of lag while writing

Samba 3 domain to AD domain migration.
Good Morning Samba list, I know I don't post here often (or.. maybe ever) but i've been watching along for years. We're in a situation where we have an aging samba 3 domain.  It acts like an old NT domain, samba folks should understand that.  Its just where the capabilities of samba3 landed us.  For many reasons we want to get off of this domain, and on to something more modern, and

Any 24 (or 30) way FXS PCI cards?
It seems to me silly to have a T1/E1 card to connect to a channel bank when you could just have a 24/30 way FXS card in the slot in the first place. Does such a thing exist? Wouldn't Digium have a lot of customers if they could produce one for say < $1000 retail?

rsync bandwidth usage
Hello all, I'm experiencing about 20MBit/s on a 100MBit/s ethernet connection when rsync'ing a lager number on _new_ files. I don't have much exeprience with rsync. I'dd just like to know if thi is an acceptable bw usage and what could be the limiting factors... in order to try to increase this speed. I'm considering using 1000MBit/s dedicated connections and so I'dd

active/active failover
Dear all, I'm rather new to glusterfs but have some experience running lager lustre and beegfs installations. These filesystems provide active/active failover. Now, I discovered that I can also do this in glusterfs, although I didn't find detailed documentation about it. (I'm using glusterfs 3.10.8) So my question is: can I really use glusterfs to do failover in the way described

active/active failover
Hi Stefan, I think what you propose will work, though you should test it thoroughly. I think more generally, "the GlusterFS way" would be to use 2-way replication instead of a distributed volume; then you can lose one of your servers without outage. And re-synchronize when it comes back up. Chances are if you weren't using the SAN volumes; you could have purchased two servers

active/active failover
Hi Alex, Thank you for the quick reply! Yes, I'm aware that using ?plain? hardware with replication is more what GlusterFS is for. I cannot talk about prices where in detail, but for me, it evens more or less out. Moreover, I have more SAN that I'd rather re-use (because of Lustre) than buy new hardware. I'll test more to understand what precisely "replace-brick"

[SOLVED] Rscript path problem on R 2.13.1 for Ubuntu 11.04?
Dear all, I Located my previous problem: an orphan Rscript was still in /usr/local/bin, and since /usr/local/bin came before /usr/bin/ in the PATH, the "wrong" Rscript was called. Removing /usr/local/bin/Rscript solved the installation issue with Ubuntu 11.04+R 2.13.1 but I'm still unsure on the exact details why/where/when the error "Rscript execution error: No such file or

Fatal Error after install of R 2.13.1
I tried to install R 2.13.1 this morning on a Windows XP SP3 machine. I have the 2 previous versions of R running flawlessly. However when I try to open R from my Programs, I get an error and then R crashes. I've seen a few posts with this error but none of the fixes work (rename .RDATA, run as --no-restore). I did the uninstall/reinstall also. Any suggestions as to a solution? Error: Fatal

R 2.13.1 scheduled for July 8
This is to announce that we plan to release R version 2.13.1 on Friday, July 8, 2011. The 2.13.0 release has been quite solid, but some people expect an x.y.1 to roll out on larger installations for the next academic year. Of course, there have also been a sampling of minor bug fixes. Those directly involved should review the generic schedule at
