how to use solve.QP
At the risk of ridicule for my deficient linear algebra skills, I ask
for help using the solve.QP function to do portfolio optimization. I
am trying to following a textbook example and need help converting the
problem into the format required by solve.QP. Below is my sample code
if anyone is willing to go through it. This problem will not solve
because it is not set up properly. I hope I

Very inaccurate circles
Hello,
Please take a look at the attached plot and let me know if this is
normal. The circle has radio I am using R 2.9.2 inside OS X Leopard.
The plot was generated with:

plot(c(-5,0,0,5), c(0,5,-5,0))
symbols(0,0, circles=c(sqrt(25)), inches=FALSE, add=TRUE)

If I resize the x11's plot window I can manage to make the circle pass

Group=????
Good Day list,
I have worn out my google toolbar today looking for a way to
determine which group an incoming call belong to, but have not been very
fruitfull in my endeavors.
I am trying to figure a way to determine which group the
incoming call that I just answered is part of so I can do some
branchinbg scripts in my dialplan. I know I can control my dialplan
logic by creating separate

Adding/Removing Headers with Sendmail
Hi,
I posted this query a few weeks ago but never received a response. I'm
guessing that I didn't put things right, so here is another go.
The company that I work for currently has email addresses in the format
of:-
firstname.surname.ext at example.com
Which we use for various marketing campaigns (therefore the .ext bit is
variable).
Currently we have this setup as distribution

Session (stored in db) not working in testing mode
Hi,
I just switched from storing my sessions on disk to storing them in
MySQL. Changing environment.rb ''config.action_controller.session_store =
:active_record_store''. But now all my tests fail. I get the following
error:

Stuck in the Rd
Having almost written a Tcl program to convert S help to Rd format, I
have one problem that I have failed to solve after reading 'R-exts'. Is
there a tag something like '\item' that works in a similar way but
doesn't have to be after an '\arguments' or '\value' tag? I'm trying to
include sections on 'MODEL PARAMETERS' and 'DESIGN

[Release-testers] 3.9.1-rc2 is ready for testing
Here's the failing tests for rc2 on SLES11.3 (glibc 2.11, libstdc++4.7).
I've done some amount of triaging what some critical elements of the
failures are. Unabridged log is attached.
Failing Tests (94):

[3.8 Release] RC1 has been tagged
Unfortunately I'm having lots of trouble with rc1 at this point:
* libcxxabi can't build, because it requires unwind.h, which we do not yet have on FreeBSD 10.x (Ed Maste is working on it for 11.x, but that is not ready for general consumption).
* The test-release.sh script has no option to disable only libcxxabi, you can only disable libcxx, libcxxabi and libunwind together (maybe this

Numerar filas según valor en una columna
Hola, amigos;
Les presento mi necesidad, a ver si ven cómo resolverla.
Necesito saber el numero relativo de las filas de un data frame, para
poderlos pasar como argumentos en unos scripts de Praat.
Me pasaron un csv con esta estructura:

GLMM using lme4
Dear R-experts,
I am running R version 2.7.1 on Windows Vista. I have a small dataset which consists of ?chick ID?, ?year (0, 1)?, ?hatching order [HO, defined as first, second and third-hatched chick]?, and the binary outcome of interest ?death (0, 1)?. So a subset of my dataset looks like this on a txt file:
y ID Yr HO
1 1 1 First
0 2 1 First
0 3 1 Second
0 4 1 First
1 5 1 First
0 6 1 Third

nv50: shader generation patches
Hi ! I've been trying to improve NV50 shader generation a bit the last couple of weeks, so here is
what I've produced. I don't know if it's usable for you or just a pile of horrible hacks, but at
least it makes some mesa demos render more correcly, p.e. the teapot (aside from mip-mapping issues
of the floor texture), arbfplight, and I think the gears also didn't appear as they

[LLVMdev] Linker problems with Visual Studio
I finally managed to compile a working fibonacci example (using the
interpreter, I'm still working on porting the x86 backend). The final
problem was that I couldn't find a way to force the linker to include
the Dominators.obj file since there were no references to it. There is
an option to the linker to stop it from stripping unreferenced code, but
it still doesn't pull the object
