counting characters starting point
I have three character strings represented below as seq1, seq2, and seq3. Each string has a reference character different from the other. Thus, for seq1, the reference character is U, seq2, S (3rd S from left where A is leftmost character) and for seq3 Y. seq1 = PQRTUWXYseq2 = AQSDSSDHRSseq3 = EEZYJKFFBHO I wish to generate a 3 by 26 matrix where 3 represent seq1, seq2, seq3 and 26 the letters of

Row median of Date class variables in a data frame
I am trying to calculate the median of each row of a data frame where the data frame consist of columns of class Date. Below are my test data and best attempt at using apply. I didn't see a solution via Google or the Baron search site. I'd be grateful for any suggestions or solutions. I'm using R 2.0.0 on Mac OS X. Thank you, Stephen Weigand ### Test data date1 <- c(1000,

find date between two other dates
Hi, I am trying to assign "Season" values to dates depending on when they occur. For example, the following dates would be assigned the following "Season" numbers based on the "season" intervals detailed below in the code: ddate Season 29/12/1998 20:00:33 1 02/01/1999 05:20:44 2 02/01/1999 06:18:36 2 02/02/1999

Joining Dataframes
I am attempting to join several dataframes that summarize sampling effort for different samples into one large data.frame/table. I have looked at the merge command, but have not been clever enough to figure out how to get it to do what I want. A simplified example of what I am trying to do: The dataframes I have look like this (they were generated using the table command) species1.effort

Compare date Oracle with Sys.time
I would like to import only datas of my table where DATE>today-7days. [PATCH 0/5] btrfs: lz4/lz4hc compression
WARNING: This is not compatible with the previous lz4 patchset. If you''re using experimental compression that isn''t in mainline kernels, be prepared to backup and restore or decompress before upgrading, and have backups in case it eats data (which appears not to be a problem any more, but has been during development). These patches add lz4 and lz4hc compression

date columns chooser
i have a data frame with 2 columns of dates. with str(dataframe) i have ensured myself that they were indeed formatted as dates. one column has NA's in it. the aim is now to make a third column that chooses date1 if it is a date, and choose date2 if it is a NA. i am trying df$date3=ifelse(is.na(df$date1), df$date2, df$date1). this leads to unexpected behaviour: the resulting column is

[LLVMdev] [Debug Info PATCH] for support of ref_addr and removal of DIE duplication
The first patch seems fine, though the comment on the modified addDIEEntry function is a bit confusing: -/// addDIEEntry - Add a DIE attribute data and value. +/// addDIEEntry - Add a DIE attribute data and value. The form should be +/// a reference form: ref1, ref2, ref4, ref8, ref_udata, ref_addr, +/// or ref_sig8. A form can be chosen inside addDIEEntry. When the comment says "The form

[PATCH v0 00/18] btfs: Subvolume Quota Groups
This is a first draft of a subvolume quota implementation. It is possible to limit subvolumes and any group of subvolumes and also to track the amount of space that will get freed when deleting snapshots. The current version is functionally incomplete, with the main missing feature being the initial scan and rescan of an existing filesystem. I put some effort into writing an introduction into

Error as.Date on Invalid Dates
Hi All, I have an script in R which accepts user inputs for certain parameters, particularly dates, which the user inputs as character strings. eg: > date1 <- "2009-01-21" The script later parses the input via the as.Date function: > as.Date(date1) However, as.Date encounters an error when the string does not represent an actual date. eg: > date1 <-

patching ?merge to allow the user to keep the order of one of the two data.frame objects merged
Hello dear R-devel list members. Following an old (2002) thread from R-help (and having myself needing to solve the same question): https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2002-October/026249.html I patched the {base} function "merge.data.frame" to have it work with a new parameter called "keep_order", and I hope you might consider including this patch (or some variation of it)

[PATCH] nv50: H.264/MPEG2 decoding support via VP2, available on NV84-NV96, NVA0
Adds H.264 and MPEG2 codec support via VP2, using firmware from the blob. Acceleration is supported at the bitstream level for H.264 and IDCT level for MPEG2. Known issues: - H.264 interlaced doesn't render properly - H.264 shows very occasional artifacts on a small fraction of videos - MPEG2 + VDPAU shows frequent but small artifacts, which aren't there when using XvMC on the same

Eliminating 'Unprintable ASCII' characters
Hi all, I have a csv file containing words with *UNPRINTABLE ASCII* characters (described in the following table). Are there any viable method in eliminating these characters? I realise that *EXTENDED ASCII* characters (i.e , ¡, ¢, £, ¤ etc) can be removed or replaced via *"gsub"* or *"gregexpr"* functions. But am not certain with the *UNPRINTABLE ASCII* characters. Your
