RJava question(class not found with rJava's vm, though found with alternate vm)
Not sure if this the right place, but I can't seem to subscribe to the rJava
mailing list. Sorry for the noise.
I have a jar file in the CLASSPATH variable. On running .jinit and checking
.jclassPath, i can see the jar file containing the class. Yet when trying to
instantaite the class, i get a class not found error.
Now If if, create my own vm (see below), and then run .jinit (which will

AR - Migrations - how to use a varchar as primary key instead of int ?
Hi
I''d like to have a varchar primary key named id instead of the default int
id. Does anyone knows how to specify this from migrations ?
Should I also specify something in the model class ?
thanks!

Is there a function that runs AR model with Schwarz Bayesian Information Criteria (BIC)?
Hello,
Is there a function in R by which one can run AR model with Bayesian
Information Criteria (BIC)? To my knowledge, functions ar and ar.ols could
select the order only by AIC.
Thanks,
Miao

IPv6 support?
Hello!
I hope this is the right mailinglist ;)
At the moment, I use IPv6 for IRC only, because of too less software
wich provides IPv6. It would be very nice if OpenSSH would support IPv6.
AFAIK isn't it yet implemented, so it would be nice if someone could
implement this.
Please send a copy of your answers to openssh-dev at oscarminus.de too,

Forking FCGI dispatcher
I hacked a forking FCGI dispatcher for Rails. I have no idea if this is
the correct way to do it, but it seems to work fine. It improves memory
usage a bit; after it is started the processes share almost 10 MB (of 12
MB total), but unfortunately it drops to 2 MB after a few requests.

Hello,
I created a paravirtualized Debian Squeeze guest (using virt-manager), after completing the initial setup I was asked to reboot, in order to finalise the installation. The guest startup breaks down with the error message:

Information criteria for kmeans
Hello,
how is, for example, the Schwarz criterion is defined for kmeans? It should
be something like:
k <- 2
vars <- 4
nobs <- 100
dat <- rbind(matrix(rnorm(nobs, sd = 0.3), ncol = vars),
matrix(rnorm(nobs, mean = 1, sd = 0.3), ncol = vars))
colnames(dat) <- paste("var",1:4)
(cl <- kmeans(dat, k))
schwarz <- sum(cl$withinss)+ vars*k*log(nobs)
Thanks

Should AR set default values obtained from the schema?
First, if my understanding of what is happening is in error then
please forgive me.
I am given to understand that when a new AR model object is
initialized then AR obtains from the database, and I suppose caches
for further use, those columns that have defaults assigned and the
default value for each.
Consequently, when the save method is called on said model instance
then all of these columns

"moving average" method for time series objects
Dear R-Help readers,
I suspect that this question must be a FAQ, but my investigation of the archives has not been very revealing. Is there an R function for calculating moving averages of time series objects?
Thank you for your time and patience.

using hist() with tapply()
Hi,
I've been passing the hist() function to tapply() to quickly generate histograms based on the list of factors supplied to tapply(). However, I have not figured out how to generate titles for each of the histograms, which paste in the unique values of the list factors as part of the histogram title. I'm hoping that someone can tell me how to do this.
Thanks for your time and

Release date for Rails 2.3.6?
Hello guys,
I went into milestones page (https://rails.lighthouseapp.com/projects/8994-ruby-on-rails/milestones) and found out that Rails 2.3.6 was due Jan 15, 2010. Does it mean all tickets in that milestone should be cleared first?
If so, then I would pay attention to clear tickets in that bucket first.
Thank you,

Migration, BigInts, and string lengths
Howdy Y''all,
I was thrilled to recently discover migrations, as that framework
addresses a common problem in an elegant way. I have, however, gotten
tripped up a bit as I''ve worked with them.
The first problem I encountered was that, though I was using a BigInt
data type in a field in my dev database, my unit tests were failing
because when I copied the schema from the dev

Problems with app_realtime
It seems that when setting qualify = 200 or qualify = yes in the database for
a sip friend/peer, RealTime does not update the registration status like it
should.
I also have several peers which have been offline and Asterisk still reports
them as registered, even though the registration seconds are only 200.

usage of each field
Hi all,
From the web, I can find a table scheme of sipusers for ARA using.
However, I can't find any meaning of each field, especially for the
field regserver which is new in the table. Can any tell me more
detail about the usage of each field?
