(PR#7045) Re: homals: Error in y[g[i, j], ] : incorrect number
Function homals() is not part of R. It appears to be in a contributed package `homals', but you did not say so. To quote the FAQ Bug reports on contributed packages should be sent first to the package maintainer, and only submitted to the R-bugs repository by package maintainers, mentioning the package in the subject line. I have closed this bug report on R-bugs. On Fri, 2 Jul

homals package and core loop
The homals package http://www.jstatsoft.org/v31/i04 will get a major programming overhaul. This will take some time, but what's a few years on a 40-year project. Suggestions from the audience are welcome. homals() has a core loop over the m variables in which 1. tapply is used to compute category quantification (centroids) 2. category quantifications are then adjusted to satisfy the

Strange behaviour with the Homals Package
Dear R users and experts, I am using Homals to perform categorical PCA on some survey data. The documentation is a bit obscure, however, I followed the examples. X is a matrix with ordinal 1-5 Likert scale entries on 24 questions from about 2500 respondents. So I run X.nlpc = homals(X, rank = 1, level = "ordinal", ndim = 10) to get the first 10 pc's (the number of dimensions is

homals-0.9.0
homals-0.9.0 is on CRAN -- by Jan de Leeuw and Patrick Mair This package implements the methods discussed in Gifi, Nonlinear Multivariate Analysis, Wiley, 1990. In the Gifi terminology it covers homals, princals, canals, morals, criminals, and overals. The R implementation fills several gaps in Gifi, adding multiple ordinal, numerical, and polynomial data transformations. Differences with

Problems with Samba 4.5.16 - configuring a second failover AD DC and joining this to an existing domain SAMDOM
Hello I wonder if anyone here could possibly help me? I am using Samba version 4.5.16-Debian (version information taken from sudo smbstatus) on Raspbian and attempting to prototype some future network infrastructure with a couple of Raspberry Pis. So far I have sucessfully created a Samba 4 AD DC ad1.samdom.example.com. I have successfully joined my Windows 10 dekstop client to the SAMDOM

RSvgDevice & sapply(plotmeans)
Hi, anybody know why this not works for several plots ? When i set onefile=T the plots are stacked one about another , onefile=F only the first plot is shown in AllbusMeansPlots.svg. [h2 is a data.frame] ......hist and sapply works for several plots nice with RSvgDevice ! Maybe setting the title after apply is a problem, but until yet i didn't found a better solution ? library(RSvgDevice)

reading data
Hi all, I am using R to extract data on a regular basis. However, sometimes using the same script and the same data I am getting different observation. The library I am using and how I am reading it is as follows. library(stringr) namelist <- file("Adress1.txt",encoding="ISO-8859-1") Name <- read.fwf(namelist, colClasses="character",

reading data
You need to provide reproducible data. What does the file contain? Why are you using 'sep=' when reading fixed format. You might be able to attach the '.txt' to your email to help with the problem. Also you did not state what the differences that you are seeing. So help us out here. Jim Holtman Data Munger Guru What is the problem that you are trying to solve? Tell me what

how to modify a function in a R package calling other (invisible?) functions
Hey hey kids! I'm facing this rough problem: I have to modify a function in a R package (namely, homals) but I'm not able to do it from the R interface, since this function recalls other functions which looks like invisible... I downloaded the source package from CRAN, http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/homals_0.9-10.tar.gz http://cran.r-project.org/src/contrib/homals_0.9-10.tar.gz how

Item Response Analysis
Hello, Would someone have ever heard or developed any Item Response Models library for R ? Of course, a Rasch model can be estimated through glm() but it is not the case for more complex (polytomous) response models. Similarly I would be interested in any R implementation of nonlinear multivariate analyses a la GIFI (HOMALS, PRINCALS, OVERALS). Thanks a lot in advance, Yvonnick Noel, PhD.

R for Psychometrics
Over the last couple of years I have written quite a few R programs for various "psychometric" techniques, and I am regularly updating and expanding what is there. I now have (wholly or partially), or have planned -- gifi package (update to homals on CRAN). Code for multiple correspondence analysis, nonlinear principal component analysis, nonlinear multiset canonical

SAS, SPSS Product Comparison Table
Hi All, My paper "R for SAS and SPSS Users" received a bit more of a reaction than I expected. I posted the link (http://oit.utk.edu/scc/RforSAS&SPSSusers.pdf) about 12 days ago on R-help and the equivalent SAS and SPSS lists. Since then people have downloaded it 5,503 times and I've gotten lots of questions along the lines of, "Surely R can't do for free what [fill in

substitute, eval, quote and functions
Hi, i am working with large data frames with many dependend variables. I want to write some functions that will allow me to quickly select variables from the frame and plot them in various colors depending on factor columns, possibly selecting rows according to factor conditions. In order to do this in a nice function, i need to understand how to work with a column name in the body of a
