Antialiasing?
Does wxRuby support font antialiasing on Linux or does it depend on the
underlying toolkit? If not, are there plans to include it?
If I use wxGTK, is antialiasing automatically enabled? Do I have to do
something to make my fonts antialiased?

JGR font rendering on Windows
JGR users on Windows may be interested that Sun has released a preview
of its latest Java development kit and runtime engine at
http://www.java.net/download/jdk6/binaries/
This removes the main problem I have had with JGR and other Java
programs on Windows: poor font rendering. On Windows XP with an LCD
display, the improvement is striking, as this uses Windows native font

trouble loading JGR on Debian
Dear developers
I am unable to (properly) load JGR on Debian testing. The JGR window
will pop out and R will start up, but it will not perform any of the
JGR specific library() calls (rJava, JavaGD, etc.) and will stuck at
100% CPU while the prompt will be non-responsive. The hack that helped
previously in such cases, accessing Help > About [1], works no more.

JGR not launch for non-root user
Hi there,
I am a newbie to R and just installed R 2.7.2 and JGR. As root, JGR
launch successfully both in R or by a launcher (a script in shell), but
it not works for non-root user. What's the cause of this issue?
sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun
sudo R CMD javareconf
sudo R
>install.packages("JGR", dep=TRUE)
>library(JGR)
>JGR() # JGR launched successfully

Antialiasing plots and text on different devices
I have a question about antialiasing when R generates bitmaps. (This follows
a thread on the ggplot2 mailing list.)
I mostly use R on Linux, although I sometimes use it in Mac and Windows as
well. On Linux, I've found that plotting shapes 15-18 via cairo results in
bad-looking output. The points are not antialiased, and they are jagged and
misshapen. Plots generated in Windows also aren't

JGR GUI for R-2.10.0 "Help" "Print"
I have updated R 2.9.1 to 2.10.0. and JGR GUI 1.7. I am running Windows XP.
I can't seem to get the JGR "Print" or "Help" functions to work. The system
locks and requires me to "stop the process".
In the past I have preferred the opreation and "feel" of JGR GUI. I realize
that this help forum is for R; but, I am hoping that some other R-user is

How to update JGR
I recently updated R on Linus/SuSE 11.1
I complained because no on-line help was available from JGR after R update. I was told to update JGR as well.
How can I do that ?
I installed JGR on SuSE three times in the past with different R versions.Every time it's been a nightmare.
I am afraid to have to spend a whole day, maybe longer, to update JGR ...
I would greatly appreciate some clear

Fixed: Re: Re: [stats-rosuda-devel] how to install JGR manually?
To follow up:
I believe I had a version mismatch between one of the packages and R. I made sure to install the latest of all, at which
point jgr.exe launched just fine. Thanks to Simon and Liviu for their comments.
Just one note: the Windows launcher does not provide any info if it can't reach the 'net (as opposed to listing missing packages as suggested previously).

iplots/JGR on OS X 10.4.8
iMac Intel Core Duo; OS X 10.4.8; Java 1.5.0_06; R 2.4.1; JGR 1.4-14; rJava

I'm unable to get JGR or iplots to load using "library(JGR)" or
"library(iplots)", respectively. This feels like it might be a classpath or
Mac look-and-feel issue, but I'm not sure where to go with it at this point.
I've searched the fora and web to no avail.

JGR makes help more helpful
Hi All,
A few weeks ago I suggested that it would be nice to be able to submit
lines from the help files for execution. You can cut and paste them into
the console, or enter example(function) to run them all. However, I
often find myself wanting to run just a line or two, or even parts of a
line to see an intermediate result.
It turns out that this is one of the many nice features of the JGR

how to install JGR manually?
Here's the problem: on Windows, the 'jgr.exe' tool starts up by checking
for a connecting to the 'net in order to grab the support packages.
Well, we have machines at work that are not and never will be connected
to the Internet. I tried manually installing all the packages (JGR,
Rjava, etc) but the jgr.exe still tries to find a connection.
Is there any way around this?

JGR install problem
Hi,
I thought I'd like to try out JGR, but after installing the package (and
dependencies) I receive the following when I try to load it:
> library(JGR)
Loading required package: rJava
Loading required package: JavaGD
Loading required package: iplots
Note: On Mac OS X we strongly recommend using iplots from within JGR.
Proceed at your own risk as iplots cannot resolve potential ev.loop
