tkrplot not working in R 2.13.0
The tkrplot package is not working in version 2.13.0 for windows. I contacted the maintainer who unfortunately does not have easy access to a windows computer and says that it is working on the other platforms. I traced the problem down to the line in the .First.lib function: .Tcl(paste("load", file, "Rplot")) With file being "C:/Program

plots and text to the same output file
Hello, I would like to save different plots and some text (like summaries, AIC, ...) on the same file. I've read the e-mails entitled "Output results to a single postscript document" written some days ago and I've tried to use the function odfInsertPlot() in the package "odfWeave" but it doesn't work on my computer (I've seen that odfWeave package depends on

Test if data uniformly distributed (newbie)
Hello, I have a bunch of files containing 300 data points each with values from 0 to 1 which also sum to 1 (I don't think the last element is relevant though). In addition, each data point is annotated as an "a" or a "b". I would like to know in which files (if any) the data is uniformly distributed. I used Google and found out that a Kolmogorov-Smirnov or a Chi-square

general question on binomial test / sign test
hello, i did several binomial tests and noticed for one sparse dataset that binom.test(1,1,0.5) gives a p-value of 1 for the null, what i can't quite grasp. that would say that the a prob of 1/2 has p-value of 0 ?? - i must be wrong but can't figure out the right interpretation.. best, kay ----- ------------------------ Kay Cichini Postgraduate student Institute of Botany Univ. of

Obtaining the value of x at a given value of y in a smooth.spline object
I have some data fit to a smooth.spline object as follows: (x=vector of data for the predictor variable, y=vector of data for the response variable) fit <- smooth.spline(x,y) Now, given a spline fit point y_new, I want to be able to find out what value of x_new yielded this fit value. How to do so? (This problem is the inverse of the predict.smooth.spline function, which takes x_new as input

questions on some operators in R
Hi all, I have two questions. Can some one give some help? The first question is regarding the pair of operators "&" and "&&". What is the difference between the two? The second question is regarding "<-" and "=". Usually we use "<-" as the assignment operator. I saw some people use "=". Is there any

How to eliminate this for loop ?
Hi, I would like to create a list recursively and eliminate my for loop : a<-c() a[1] <- 1; # initial value for(i in 2:N) { a[i]<-a[i-1]*b - c[i-1] # b is a value, c is another vector } Is it possible ? Concave Hull
Dear Friends, Here is an algorithm for finding concave hulls: http://get.dsi.uminho.pt/local/ Has anyone implemented such an algorithm in R? RSiteSearch('concave hull') didn't reveal one (I think). _____________________________ Professor Michael Kubovy University of Virginia Department of Psychology Postal Address: P.O.Box 400400, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4400 Express Parcels

Sampling from Bivariate Uniform Distribution
Hello all!!! 1) I am wondering is there a way to generate random numbers in R for Bivariate Uniform distribution? 2) Does R haveĀ  built-in function for generating random numbers for any given bivariate distribution. Any help would be greatly appreciated !! Good day! Haneef Anver [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

pairs plot
Hi all, I want to plot trough pairs() plot a matrix with 4 columns. I want to make a trhee plot in a graph. Plotting pairs colum 2,3,4 on y axis and 1 on X axis. You mean (a plot with three graphs) ommitting the first pair with itself. And only the pairs with colum 1 with the other not all pairs. Writing Reports from R in Microsoft Office Open XML format (follow-up)
Dear Duncan and other R users, The department in which I work will soon make some decisions to improve our reporting. Since I hope that our solution will support R and Sweave-like functionality (otherwise it wouldn't be an improvement....), I hope it's ok to repeat my question back from June if there are any news on an odfWeave-like package for weaving Microsoft Word documents? smoothed contour lines
Hi all, I'm trying to draw a contour plot with rounded (smoothed) contour lines instead of sharp angles; when the grid consists of only a few points in x- and y- axis, the resulting contour is in facts rather ugly since very sharp angles may appear. I did not find any way to do it, by using either "contour" or "contourplot" (from the lattice package), I wonder if there
