greek letters in rgl plot3d
Dear RGL experts,
I haven't been able to add greek letters to my rgl plot3d.
I have tried "expression" with no success.
Here is the interested bit:
> library(rgl)
> cb <- cube3d()
> plot3d(cb,xlab=expression(alpha),ylab="",zlab="",box=FALSE,alpha=0.5)
The expression(alpha) appears as "alpha", rather than as a greek symbol.
I suspect greek

Can a dynamic graphic produced by rgl be saved?
Dear r-helpers,
Can one save a dynamic graphic produced by rgl, e.g.:
open3d(); x <- sort(rnorm(1000)); y <- rnorm(1000); z <-
rnorm(1000) + atan2(x,y); plot3d(x, y, z, col=rainbow(1000), size=2)
as a dynamic figure that can be embedded in a pdf?

ImageMagick not seen by movie3d function from rgl package
Hello R-users,
I have downloaded and installed a binary version for Windows OS of ImageMagick (ImageMagick6.5.6-10-q16-windows-dll.exe), I have installed the rgl package and i've tried running the following example from ?movie3d()
library(rgl)
open3d()
plot3d( cube3d(col="green") )

adding 3D arrows to 3D plots
Greetings,
I would like to add 3D arrows (i.e. arrow-headed vectors linking X1Y1Z1 to X2,Y2,Z2) to a 3D plot; ideally the sort of plot that can be rotated interactively. Is this possible using plot3d, or another 3d plotter in R?
While it is easy to draw segments in plot3d (e.g. below), I haven't figured out how to add arrow heads, or to create 3d arrows from scratch.

3D-plotting a 2D-matrix that contains z-values (3rd dimension)
Hello,
say I have a 2D-matrix (indexed by x and y), which contains
z values, which I want to plot over x-y.
Either dotted, or if possible as a landscape.
I tried around with persp and plot3d (from rgl)
and persp3d (from rgl).
I sometimes get something that looks good and a while later, when
trying some new data I need to worry about that again.
Is there something lika a convenience function

3d Scatterplot using rgl
Hi,
I am trying to plot a 3d scatter plot using the rgl package but am having trouble.
I have a matrix containing x, y and z co-ordinates and a fourth element related to a count variable.
I would like to plot the points using plot3d with the sizes of the points related to the fourth element in the matrix. Is this possible with plot3d or do I need to use something else?
I include a small example

Correct NAMESPACE approach when writing an S3 method for a generic in another package
Dear List,
In one of my packages I have an S3 method for the plot3d generic
function from package rgl. I am trying to streamline my Depends
entries but don't know how to have
plot3d(foo)
in the examples section for the plot3d method in my package, without
rgl being in Depends.
Note that I importFrom(rgl, plotd3d) and register my S3 method via
S3Method() in the NAMESPACE.
If rgl is not in

rgl.postscript() failure when saving a scene
Dear all,
I write to the community to know if other people
expierenced the same problem. I want to save a rgl

radius is set proportional to a given variable and
coloured by another group variable and with 95%
ellipsoids for distribution of any group.
I had no problem at all for coding but I had two

color scale in rgl plots
Hello,
I'm trying to make a 3d plot using rgl in which the size and color of
each point corresponds to certain attributes of each data point. The color
attribute, let's call it X, is scaled to go from 0 to 1. The
rainbow(64,start=0.7,end=0.1) palette is perfect for what I want but I
don't know how to take that palette and pick a color from it based on
the value of X for a given data

plot3d con library(rgl)
Buenas tardes. ¿Sabe alguno de vosotros cómo indicar la variable con
la que identificar los puntos con plot3d?
library(rgl)
plot3d(Data$RTLML,Data$JD,Data$SB)
Las muestras pertenecen a una de dos categorías, según la variable
"Family", pero no sé cómo hacer que me las represente de diferente
color.
Gracias,

rgl package don't draw points with a color over points with another color
I want to plot points with different colors to show different
selections of points in a 3d plot.
My problem is that if I plot a red point at a location where already a
blue point was plotted, than the point is still blue.
Is there a parameter or so which can be used to draw over a existing point?
Example:
> require(rgl)
> open3d()
> plot3d(a<-c(1,2,3,4,5),a,a,type="l",

I wish to save 3d scatter plots I have generated using the plot3d command in
the rgl package. Any image format such as .tiff would work. Can anyone tell
me how to do this?
Thank you

Interactive stereoscopic 3d rendering with RGL plot3d?

i' wondering, if there is any possibility to render interactive stereoscopic 3d plots in R and use the
functionality of those new 3d displays (e.g. with poarisation technology) like this one:

3D scatter, groups, RdbiPgSQL...
hello,
I wish to create some 3d scatter diagrams visualising different grouped
data set by a given field in the database. I tried the scatterplot3d
package, as well as the plot3d and scatter3d functions (both within the
rgl resp. Rcmdr package). My first question is, whether is it possibe to
group data in the scatterplot3d and plot3d, because I did not succeed to

I have a 2D matrix, with 100 rows and 100 columns,
I want to display it using 3D plot, much like plot3d and mesh/surf functions
in matlab.
Specifically, in matlab, I just need to do the following:

[X, Y]=meshgrid([0:0.01:0.99, 0:0.01:0.99]);
% Z is my 2D matrix,
surf(X, Y, Z);

Writing my 3D plot function
Hi all,I had a question last week on asking for a function that will help me draw three different circles on x,y,z axis based on polar coordinates (Each X,Y,Z circle are coming from three independent measurements of 1-360 polar coordinates). It turned out that there ?is no such function in R and thus I am trying to write my own piece of code that hopefully I will be able to share. I have spent

colored 3d scatter plot
Hi All,
I have data for two groups, group with 100 points and group B with 15
points. i needed plot these two groups in one scatter plot, each group with
a different color. I tried
plot3d(data, col = c("red", "blue")[c(rep(1, 100), rep(2, 15))], pch=20) .
this works but the graph does not look good.
the other option that I tried is
scatterplot3d(data, type="p",
