Rails 0.10.1and WEBrick
Doesn''t appear to work with WEBrick. Works find with Apache/FastCGI.
Something wrong in the way Rails is trying to process paths from the
WEBrick server. If I try to send in http://localhost:3000/recipes/new,
WEBrick is interpreting /new as my controller, instead of my action.

Routing - newbie question about shorting the url
Hi
Right now I have my url showing as the following:
http://localhost/categories/italian/recipes/special-pasta-sauce
I would like it to be:
http://localhost/categories/italian/special-pasta-sauce
(or even http://localhost/italian/special-pasta-sauce)
my category model has_many :recipes and my recipes model
belongs_to :category (for the purposes of my test project a recipe

Rails Recipes Book: Routing Error
Hi,
I''m working on the first rails recipe, InPlaceEditing, and following the
instructions very carefully. After generating the scaffold for Contact,
I then go to the page, thus:
http://localhost:3000/contacts/
I get this error:
Routing Error
Recognition failed for "/contacts/"
What should I be checking for to resolve this problem?
Thanks.

Routing problems - Apache proxy vs. Webrick direct
I dropped the use of fastcgi because I could not get popen working (see
''[Rails] Apache2 and popen''). It works under WebBrick. Since CGI is too
slow, I thought I''d proxy to WebBrick via Apache.
I am having routing problems now with escaped slashes in the URL.
Here''s my routes.rb:
map.connect '''', :controller => "wiki"

validates_presence_of *_id attributes
Hi all,
I am a newbie to Rails. Please enlighten me on how to do this
appropriately, the Rails and the Ruby way:
Suppose I have a Recipe model. Let''s simplify things and pretend that
it has only 2 attributes, a :name and the other is a ''category_id''. In
the recipes table, category_id is a foreign key to field id of table
categories.
We also assume that I have generate

(OT?) Rails App in Subfolder = Routing Error Recognition Failed
All,
I realize this was probably off-topic (not really mongrel-centric) -- my
apologies.
I "solved" the problem by appending to my Environment.rb:
ActionController::AbstractRequest.relative_url_root = "/RailsAppSample"
How come that doesn''t serve up the default "public/index.html" ? It caused a

Rails routing issue
Within a rails app I''ve got a special url (/profile) that I''m mapping
to the user controller to allow a user to view and edit their profile.
I made the following entries into my route file so that the "get" for
profile will route me to the profile action in the user controller and
the "post" for profile will route to the update_profile action in the

Routing/File Upload/Put vs. Post puzzle
I think I am doing something simply boneheaded but I don''t see it. I
hope you are willing to take a look:
I am simply wanting to upload a file and hand the file in my controller
to some code that will process it. It is not getting stored.
The UI is a "maintain" page with a file entry field in a form, and a
button to import the file and some other maintenance tasks which are

Ruby on Rails w/Dreamhost - routes problem...I think.
I am trying to deploy my first app on Dreamhost using Ruby on Rails. I
followed the wiki, but I think I am missing something. I think it may
be in my RoR code, but I am not sure.
My app runs fine when run as
http://localhost:3000/AddPatientVisit/addvisits
AddPatientVisit is the controller and addvisits is the form that posts
back to the controller.
I got rid of the index.html in public

routing problem 1.8.2/0.10.1/webrick?
I seem to have come to a strange problem getting started on rails. I
had everything working in a virtual machine and then set up a seperate
machine just for rails developement. It now seems something is broken a
little.
ruby 1.8.2, rails 0.10.1, postgres, using webrick:
i created a table "users", then "generate scaffold User"

I have one controller in the /app/controllers/animals_controller.rb

one Animal has many Services, and i''d like to access to them using
something like:
http://localhost:3000/animals/1/production/services/1
or at least with:
