We are using the following dataset which contains UTF-8 characters and is
stored in a MySQL database. When we use
RODBC and read the data, the characters are read correctly. But when we read
using RJDBC ,the characters are read like ???????????????????????????1
Can you please let me know how we can read the UTF-8 characters as it is
done by RODBC.

Null values in R
Hi R-helpers , can you please let me know the methods in which NULL values
can be handled in R? Are there any generic commands/functions that can be
given in a workspace,so that the NULL values occuring in that workspace (for
any datasets that are loaded , any output that is calculated) , are
considered in the same way?
Thanks in advance.

RJDBC cant find driver class in JDBC jar file
I would like to set up a Windows XP environment with R and MySQL.
This set-up was recommended by a friend who uses this set up, but I
have been unable to get RJDBC to work. I have installed all of the
software today (June 2 2008), first deleting and then replacing old
versions of software.
The error is as follows:
Error in .jfindClass(as.character(driverClass)[1]) : class not found

dot - comma problem
Dear all
I am trying to use the ODB package to connect to an libreoffice-odb database.
The libreoffice package is german, thus, decimal separator is a comma. However,
I can open the database and upload a it without error,
library(ODB)
db <- odb.open("Test.odb")
but a soon as the "odb.open" command is executed, the decimal separator in R
is changed to comma.

Microsoft SQL Server and R
I have a client running Microsoft SQL Server. I am interested in ways of
accessing data from this server using R.
I would welcome any information about how this can be done. I have a
reasonable grasp of SQL and have experience with MySQL and RODBC but
don't know anything much about Microsoft SQL Server.

RJDBC in Ubuntu
Hi,
I'm working with R on Cassandra and need to install RJDBC on my Ubuntu
virtual machine. The traditional commands (install.packages(RJDBC, dep=TRUE)
and library(RJDBC)) don't work: they throw an error that they can't find the
package. I tried installing it using the Rkward GUI, but can't write to any
of the pre-set directories because of permissions issues. When I try running

Help in kmeans
Hi All,
I was using the following command for performing kmeans for Iris dataset.
Kmeans_model<-kmeans(dataFrame[,c(1,2,3,4)],centers=3)
This was giving proper results for me. But, in my application we generate
the R commands dynamically and there was a requirement that the column names
will be sent instead of column indices to the R commands.Hence, to
incorporate this, i tried using the R
