BUG: emacs orgmode ob-R.el function org-babel-R-evaluate-session over aggressively performs "; ; cleanup extra prompts left in output" and a possible workaround
Hello , I am not sure what the best solution is, but, in my hands using Org-mode version 8.3.2-elpa org-20150929 the reg-expt used to "cleanup extra prompts left in output" is over-aggressive and will trim session :output at lines consisting exclusively of blanks and periods such as produced when printing a BioConductor 'Views' object which wants to appear as #+RESULTS:

there are fontencoding problem in Sweave
I want write article by russian language using Sweave. For cyrillic text LaTeX use T2A encoding \usepackage[T2A]{fontenc} But in Sweave.sty we find: \RequirePackage[T1]{fontenc} It is source of critical problem. For example Rnw file $ cat estimation.Rnw \documentclass[A4paper]{article} \usepackage[T2A]{fontenc} \usepackage[utf8]{inputenc} \usepackage[russian,english]{babel}

Emacs & ESS under Windows
After the discussions about appropriate editors under Windows to use with R, I have managed to install Emacs, XEmacs, and ESS under WinNT 4.0, and these work fine. It's not necessary to compile anything to use R with ESS, just to install Emacs and ESS, and do a few modifications in some files. XEmacs is also easy to install but apparently ESS cannot run with it (confirmed by a message by Tony

Any demand for a useR 2011 tutorial on Emacs Speaks Statistics?
Dear all, I'm thinking of organising a tutorial on Emacs Speaks Statistics (ESS) for next year's useR meeting. http://www.warwick.ac.uk/statsdept/useR-2011/ Tony (Rossini) organised one a few years ago which covered the following topics: \begin{enumerate} \item Introduction (now, 15 minutes) \item Using Emacs (45 minutes) \item Using ESS (60 minutes) \item Exercise 1: ESS

latex warning
Dear all, I am getting an R CMD check warning about the PDF manual. I am having a hard time finding out what is wrong, here is the log of the Rd2pdf call. The full check (and other) log is at https://api.travis-ci.org/jobs/46373922/log.txt?deansi=true if anybody is interested, and the package itself is here: https://github.com/metacran/r-builder/tree/bintex/rbuildertest Thanks, Best, Gabor

CentOS 7 issues with pdf manual / tex conversion
On a CentOS 7 machine, I am at a loss with respect to an inability to run a full R CMD check as anything involving tex files ends in tears. We followed the README at CRAN and installed a large number of tex-live packages on this machine. But when a manual is created, we end up with what follows below. Here, I chopped some of the error messages, the key seems to be 'Insufficient extension

Package keyval Error: noupquote undefined
Hi, Due to a change in Rd.sty a few days ago (https://github.com/wch/r-source/commit/620eb9a#diff-3bf3d821c6faae50cd6ec931f6f63296L272), the default installation of TeXLive 2009 or 2012 no longer works when building Rd to PDF. Sweavelistingutil: Encoding problems
Hello, I am not sure whether this is a bug or lack of R experience. However, I am using your Sweavelistingutil package, which is very nice. Obviously I use it to create LaTeX files. These are encoded in utf8. However, when I use the Sweavelistingutil is uses some funky character for "`" and "'" that is not recognized. Here is an example from my tex-file: ,---- |

Latex and r
Dear R?ers I?m trying to get a summary table using latex and summary in the rms package to no avail. I?m running R 2.10.1, Mac OS X snow leopard and I have the mactex 2009 distribution installed. Any obvious things I?m missing? //M options(digits=3) set.seed(173) sex <- factor(sample(c("m","f"), 500, rep=TRUE)) age <- rnorm(500, 50, 5) treatment <-

I'm trying to build and check a new package. But keep getting the warning: * checking PDF version of manual ... WARNING LaTeX errors when creating PDF version. This typically indicates Rd problems. When I go into the package.Rcheck directory, package-manual.pdf is created. however if I do a pdflatex on package.tex I get the following: This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-2.4-1.40.13

Suppress LaTeX log during R CMD build
Hi, When a package's documentation contains \Sexpr{}, R CMD build will build the manual to PDF. I wonder if the full LaTeX log could be suppressed in this case. Currently it looks like this: $ R CMD build foo * checking for file ?foo/DESCRIPTION? ... OK * preparing ?foo?: * checking DESCRIPTION meta-information ... OK * installing the package to process help pages * building the PDF package

AW: best editor for .R files
Hi The best is definitively (X)Emacs (my opinion). For Windows have a look at (GNU Emacs): http://www.math.auc.dk/~dethlef/Tips/introduction.html And for XEmacs with Cygwin (XEmacs, Latex, ..., for Ess simple save (require 'ess-site) in your init.el): http://home.imf.au.dk/hellmund/indhold.html For native Xemacs for Windows: www.xemacs.org Xemacs is easy to install, use and configure
